Bonds NTTD Tactical Sling Bag - identified

TennysonTennyson A View to a KillPosts: 606MI6 Agent

Morning gents, this has been a hell of a hunt, but I think I have found it. First thing to mention though is that this hasn't been confirmed by the manufacturer, I have been in communication with them, but as the screen grabs we have gotten are so poor, they won't say either way, that said, i'm satisfied its correct for a number of reasons.

So, I believe the bag is the Flyye Industries 'Go bag' (in black obviously), and they seem to be hard to get. I got one sent to NZ from the UK from the same place I found the Mil-Tec Tactical gloves. Ive tried to 'recreate' the best screen grabs as seen below, and its important to say that wardrobe have added some stuff to the SU one - like a bungee type of lanyard, something red (end of a torniquet?), and an extra pouch attached to the Molle/PALS (circled) seen in the 'walking through the tunnel' image.

The key points are that

  1. In the 1st image, to my eye, there are 3 pouches hanging from the bottom, and some Molle/PALS straps are visible at the right side.
  2. In the second image you can see a large 50mm Side Release buckle fairly low on the sling strap, this is a key indicator that I didn't find anywhere else. Some like 5.11 have the buckle sewn right against the body of the pack, this is the only pack I found that had the 4 inches of webbing attaching the buckle to the pack. There is a zip on the SU one that makes it look more like a courier bag, but when weighted, the zip on the Flyye go bag does sit like this.
  3. In the third image, that 25mm Side Release at the 'thicker' end of the shoulder sling is very hard to come by, and coupled with the grab handle that is evident on both on the right of the image (clearer in my image)

The comparison shots are not great, the SU one is more pliable and used, and I would guess has some real weight for it to hang the way it does.

I found 2 companies that made this bag, Flyye and an Aliexpress version, (although a company called Paragon seemed to make it years ago, but I think they no longer exist), and I going to assume JB would buy from Flyye for his mission critical tactical gear!

Its a very well made piece of kit (using mil-spec fabric and clips etc), and where you might think 'nah' by looking at any one image or feature, when you take them as a whole, to my eye and experience, nothing comes close!

Cheers

T

The manufacturer won’t know. Vega doesn’t know their holster was used in the film, and they bought in loads of those. These things are available all over the place in the U.K. and production use Survival AIDS and Silvermans to get get loads of tactical gear going back to Brosnan.

I’d say you found the correct one. Brilliant.

Finally! :D Great to see this get identified, as I had been waiting with anticipation for this one to turn up.

That said, this is another case of the actual SA product being a a bit of a 'turn off' when viewed in the flesh and no where near as practical for daily use as it seemed on screen. Kind of disappointed it didn't turn out to be a proper sexed-up messenger bag, given DC favours those in real life.

Still, bit like the NPeal commando jumper, its good inspiration to seek something more user friendly and I have already found a more practical sling bag from a more established tactical kit manufacturer that will make a better EDC IMO.

Survival Aids and Battles Orders.... Wow! Loved getting those catalogues back in the day! And the SA shop at Euston station was must visit when you were in London. Good times :P

That was one I thought about, due to the way the MOLLE is fitted, and the direction of the pouch, if it’s a detachable pouch (rather than wardrobe customisation) its corresponding MOLLE attachments would have to be in the ‘vertical’ format like this one. There are only a few possibilities and it makes sense if it was purchased with the bag.

Yep, it’s a unique shape bag, certainly not suitable for an everyday messenger or work bag. It will fit a laptop, but on an angle, so all rather awkward- the best use I have for it is for my bee-keeping tools when I walk into my hives, perfect size and shape and dead comfortable. Don’t quite think that’s what the designers had in mind though!!!

Great catch and write-up, Tennyson. We get a closer look at his belt’s handcuff case too.

I think so. I have one from my police days, used it for carrying Fast-Straps (leg restraints) made by Protec - I’ll dig it out and take a phot.

Great find! And isn't it typical that the SA item is a normally easy to buy piece that's now hard to get? I hope Flyye isn't hobbled by covid and is manufacturing more of the black bags.

Black nylon cuff cases with a snap are pretty ubiquitous, but my money's on Vega for obvious reasons. Asp9mm might be able to shed some light on it.

From my eye, it looks more like a rectangular box shape with snap flap, rather than a rounder one normally seen with chain link cuffs, more like the Field Dressing pouch of old, but black and worn on the belt rather than suspenders/yoke.

as always, ‘it’s but mere speculation, unless we can get a decent screen grab or inside track

  • So funny story...I stumbled across this thread and said what the heck, why not? You can always use a good tactical bag.

Then I found an online store carrying the item and it was about $100. The material looks durable, so I went for it...

but oh, wait...I forgot to calculate shipping at checkout...price refresh now $550. shipping was $450...I paused for a moment...

and said...yeah, that's gonna be a hard pass. Then I pressed the little X in the corner.

If anyone finds an online store carrying it, do post a link. But I think the actual company flyye industries is going to keep producing it, especially

now since it is spotted in a Bond film. In the item's description it says "As seen in new transformers movie." So yeah.

I had email exchanges with Bob at Flyye, they are a Chinese company, and language was a barrier, I tried to promote the fact they would see an increase of sales etc, but it didn’t seem to register. I’m sure that as the available stock is is sold through the outlets (I see military 1st is now sold out), they will ask for more stock and maybe Flyye might realise what’s happening.

for those who want a real bargain, here’s that AliExpress link - apart from the quality, it’s near identical

Here’s my Protec pouch - Beats headphones for scale

looking at their website they don’t seem to make them like this anymore, press stuff has been replaced by velcro

  • CajunCajun Posts: 493MI6 Agent

Looks like a good match so far. How does the pouch attach?

I think we need a decent screen grab to confirm the shape etc., if as ASP9mm suggested plays out, and it was something purchased back in the the early 2000’s we might struggle.. there were loads of companies making tactical nylon then, many have gone and the demand for FFD type pouches has changed too with the advent of comprehensive IFAKs and trauma kits, assuming that is, this is an FFD type pouch!

going back to the pack, I’ve found this image of Nomi on the interwebs, and she has the same pack - clearest shot of the sling strap, identical to the one on the Flyye pack, firming up the evidence that this is the same

    anyone identify the knife?

The Flyye Industries bag looks like a copy of the S.O Tech Go Bag, which I owned for a long time and used overseas at length as a "wagon go-bag". This was a very tough well made American product. They look similar enough. If you prefer a robust, well made American made product from a reputable dealer then this could be an alternative.

I picked mine up from SKD Tactical who are an awesome dealer.

That never came up in my searching and that’s very close, however, looking at the images on their website, the 50mm side release buckle on the sling strap is in the wrong place.

with this one and the old paragon?pentagon one I found, this style has certainly been around for a while, and no doubt copied by Flyye

  • CheverianCheverian Posts: 1,456MI6 Agent

S.O. Tech's website says the design was updated. I'm not sure when that redesign happened, but it could have moved their bag further from the knockoffs out there. The new S.O. Tech seems a superior bag to the Flyye based on the specs if intended for IRL use.

I agree, the Flyye looks like a copy of something like the SO Tech. The SO etch will last about a hundred years longer though probably, thing was very well made. SO Tech seem to have a good relationship with Hollywood, which makes me think it could have been a contender. You are right as well, I picked mine up in 2009, lots of copies of good kit has come out since.

Maybe worth contacting them to verify?

They won’t know. Production wouldn’t have got something like this direct. They very rarely do.

I’m still convinced it’s the Flyye based on the folllwing

    1. There are no visible zip pull toggles in the movie, which are very distinct on the SOT but not on the Flyye,
    2. The small 25mm side release buckle on the top end of the sling strap is sewn at the opposite end on the Flyye than the SOT, and the FLYYE is SA in that regard.
    3. The most obvious is that 50mm buckle on both Bond’s and Nomi’s bags is in the wrong place on the SOT but the correct place on the Flyye, again the Flyye being SA

I get it that wardrobe change things, but all to alter all 3 things is neither practical or aesthetic in any way, and because.. Occam's Razor

on a different note, from someone who used to work in tactical nylon manufacturing, the Flyye is very well made with the highest quality fabrics, 1000d cordura (branded), US mil spec webbing used, high quality binding and finishing, and bar-tacking throughout. Rest assured, this is not an expensive ‘Ali express’ It will last as long as any other tactical bag.

Has anyone peeked at Hazard4? Their “Takedown” sling bag is pretty close
