PM me price for belt please?

  • I will try to answer messages in the order that they were received

    PM 'd for belt

  • I sent one pretty quick after I saw this post last night so hopefully I was first πŸ˜‚

  • Honestly, these items are very rare, and I don't know what to ask as far as price is concerned...

I'm getting more messages than I can answer in a day.

Is it frowned upon to be open to offers?

  • MikeG77MikeG77 Posts: 1,777MI6 Agent

Yeah the site guidelines want you to give a price. I'm not sure how to price the scarf or the belt as they are rare items!

I know where you keep your gun!
  • As amazing as that belt is it’s hard to justify dropping a few grand on just a belt so I am likely out on it but I can’t wait to hear from the person who gets it! Amazing piece. I’d be more willing if I already had the rest of the outfit but I just have the blazer/shirt, need the pants, tie and shoes πŸ˜‚

What was the original price of the belt and the scarf?

I know where you keep your gun!
  • I know the belt was on sale at one point for like $250 at Saks so I’d bet the original price was prob $400-$500, scarf was around that too

Do we get pictures of actual items and prices as per forum selling rules?

  • Honestly, I could use some help with pricing them. Try going to a sports auction and telling the auction that a Mickey Mantle rookie card

shouldn't be priced over $1 million dollars because you used to be able to get it in a package of gum for 5 cents. A little different yes,

but I don't think that exceptionally rare pieces should be expected to be sold for retail and not a penny over. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I really am looking for some tips. And to the Mods, if you prefer that I close this thread until more light is shone on the issue, I'm okay

    with that.

The thing for me is that these items are "rare" in the Bond community only. If any of these popped up on any consignment or reseller sites like RealReal, Vestiaire Collection or Grailed, they are priced for what they are as a fashion item, not a Bond item.

I think looking at prices on those sites for similar items will help. The Patterson jacket is a great example; very rare in the Bond/DC community but throw it up anywhere else and its priced accordingly for a Belstaff jacket from that previous season. One sold on RealReal for $600 which is really what its worth and another sold on Vinted for around the same amount. Even the WoW Belstaff isn't fetching what it used to.

More pertinent is what someone is willing, wanting and can pay..

The belt is a fine example, to me it's hardly seen on screen, easily copied (I have a near perfect one) and let's be honest, bleeds brown. So is it worth even retail to me, no. But I know to some it's a big piece.

The scarf is the same. Rare yes. Featured not really. Having recently acquired the coat I would like it. Would I pay more than its retail price, yes. But $000's no, it's a scarf.

MrE, I would suggest you put up the pictures rather than stock ones. Then state what you are looking for. You may get a surprise or you may be disappointed. But at least we can all move on then.

    Just my thoughts 🍸

Good luck with your sales ...

I believe scarf is on a potential project list by some ajbers

Agree. Get some pics up as condition is key.

Only you can decide price - you must surely know what you are happy to get or are you worried you are leaving money on the table?

You can and must sell them for whatever you like. I would decide what you want to do though. If you just want the top price you might just be better going down the Ebay route and tell everyone here they're there.

If you want a good price but want to sell them into the community that's a different thing and you could either name a price and see if anyone meets it or go down the list of messages and invite offers - maybe compare the top 5 - or just see what the first party offers and if you're happy go with it.

In transactions such as these the seller and buyer should always feel like they could have got slightly better terms but they actually got better than expected. Never sell or buy anything at a price you're uncomfortable with, it will ruin the item or transaction and that is not what anyone wants.

As others say condition is key. Especially with belts (who would ever have guessed that Prada would make something indestructible and Timberland something that wilts when you look at it?!).

As you asked for help on pricing, my two cents.

The cufflinks are very nice. They're also still readily available from physical S T Dupont stores and dealers in France based on my trip at the end of last year where I picked some up on the third time of seeing (was holding out for replacing the palladium finish of which I now only have one!😭 But the gold lured me in.) Anyway, new, boxed with warranty cards etc, they varied from €95-120. Of course - that's if you're in France! (I defer to others for other locations)

The scarf came in a couple of variations. They are gorgeous regardless of the Bond connection. All things considered - previous sales, time since last sale, original price, second hand market for the brand, current retail for similar product from the brand etc, it's in the £650-750+ band

    The belt probably £600+

They may fetch much higher but that's when you get into contingencies for what would someone pay and condition - are they with packaging - boxes, Brunello belt bag? Tags? Are they as new or are they well loved? And so on... but if you want guide pricing to start conversations I think that's where you are.

Apologies for mixing currencies but just reflecting what I saw cufflinks in.

I'm sure others will correct/debate on the price.
