Do you know are these only available from the states?? $60 postage plus import I imagine?? Are they available in the UK. Its OK Garin I will still be coming for some originals, it's the smell that lures me to yours!!!
I just received my plaque from Garin. It's gorgeous, even nicer than I had anticipated. Garin is scrupulous with his photos and descriptions of the plaques and chips so that no one is disappointed, but what I received went well beyond his careful details. If anyone is on the fence, be sure to grab one before you are left empty-handed.
Some comparison shots. These are handsome and affordable collectibles, but if you're a stickler for accuracy you're not going to be happy. As an owner of original plaques, I'm actually pretty happy that these are quickly identifiable as non-originals.
They're larger, though you could argue the originals have shrunk somewhat. They're more translucent, which again might be a side effect of the age of the originals. The only detail that's hard to excuse is that the front and back are printed in the same vertical direction, as opposed to inverted as the originals are.
They haven't shrunk that much (not your set anyway) although I have lots left that have.
The translucent effect is probably not possible to replicate as they would have had a different chemical composition I think.
Yes, they could have aligned the front/backs the same but hey, they look okay considering so.............
Hope all is well.

It’s standard FE to make their props quite a bit larger. Apart from the Goldeneye device which was a lot smaller. I did think they’d be a bit more accurate than how they look here though. Yet another FE item I’ll be returning. And I was looking forward to these too.

They must have panicked about that and rushed through the upgraded non accurate version 🤣

What is this nonsense on the booklet. Suggesting they were stolen off set. Utter garbage. And the last bit certainly takes liberties with the truth.
They’re nice enough for the price, but far too big and inaccurate. I can also see a problem with delaminating layers too in the future. My green one is already starting to go straight out of the box.
Disappointing they went that route of storytelling, making things up to get coin. 🤨
Then again, plaques look very cool and in my eyes are worth the money.
Like HalfMonk HalfHitman, I think it's good thing they are easily identified as replicas.
Those who have bought a set of these, does the box/booklet have a serial that match with the plaques?
Also curious to see how these are numbered, 007 XXX ? So limited edition to how many units? (+ artist proofs)

I don’t mind the small lettering on the back making the difference between the originals and these. These replicas are still so different that making them the right size and shape, wouldn’t make them in any way able to be passed off as original. The construction and materials are so different.
The plaques will all have the same numbers.
£50 - 007050
£100 - 007100
£500 - 007500
In the booklet you get a handwritten edition number, it doesn’t match up to the plaques in any way.
Although they call it a limited edition, it’s misleading. They hadn’t called a final edition number at the time of ordering and just took as many orders as possible before capping it. So calling it LE is another con really. Everything you buy can be a called LE based on this as everything is made in finite numbers. Replica Bond props are hard sellers though, and even the lowish editions they release can take years to sell out, so even at this price it’ll probably be less than 2000. I may be being optimistic though.
As I’ve said before they look great, are relatively cheap and will be fine for anyone not that bothered about accuracy. Its just a shame they’ve gone the usual route of being oversized and possibly having the delamination issue. Apart from the latter, if they were the correct size and shape, I’d have kept them and bought another couple of sets to make a nice display stack. As it is, these are going back today.
The packing on these things was horrendous. A layer of bubble wrap around the boxes and then a thin plastic post bag as the outer. Both my boxes had damaged corners and dents to the top of one box and bottom of the other. Standard 007 Store tardiness. They take your money and lose interest after that.
Sorry to hear about the delamination issue, great shame.
Also, sorry to hear they are going back but I can see your point.
I think that there are only a handful of sizes that certain companies will make which is why I assume they were a different size. Still, a shame as if done slightly differently (especially the wording on the box) they could have been great.
At least you have an original set....................
Cheers Asp for the info 🍸️ Would have been cool to have all sets individually numbered, but then again i think it would have reflected to the price point FE were targeting.
They had access to the originals, so what's the thing with cutting corners of the plaques, the shape, eh? Even if the sizing of the plaques is limited to just few companies to get it done properly, why the shape is so off?

Just to show all the "different" ones I know of now.
Original 1961 (300 made).
New FE replica (1530 made?).
1974 official "copy" (smaller, 100 made).
Repro made before the find.
The FE replicas aren't bad, if they'd got the corners right and not as thick they'd be pretty darn close. As the process isn't used anymore, they are a valiant effort, considering.
Seems there may be more made which is fair enough but personally I have issues with a couple of the statements in the piece that I will be taking up with the people concerned. Mainly the wording of certain parts and I've also asked the company (again) that made them if they would be kind enough to confirm the chemical composition of the original plaques so that we know for sure.
Well, no reply to my questions from GPI or Barry, pity, but what can you do?
Anybody know who runs the MI6 website? I ask as I've contacted them about if they wanted to know anything about the real plaques. Mind you, I did contact them in 2019 to see if they wanted to know about them being found but, yep you guessed it, they didn't reply then either.

Don’t bother with FE. They’ve been pulled up many times on their wild claims of accuracy and misleading blurb on almost anything they’ve made. They just double down even when they know we know they’re talking utter poo. You won’t hear anything off them that’ll address your concerns.
Thanks Asp but they've made the plaques sound "worse" than they are (which I am disappointed about) so I may keep trying. I appreciate your comment though as I know you are right.

Hopefully, this will help as they list both prices.
I look forward to letting you have one (or more) to smell for yourself..............
You have a great collection (as you know) and thanks for sharing.
As always Garin, more than helpful !!!!!
Yes once you have smelt one you have to come back for more!!
Oh, you ain't smelt nothing yet!!
Oh when you have more than one the combine smell must be something else!!!

Thanks, I appreciate the good feedback and am so happy you are pleased with it. Take care and maybe speak again soon.

The GE device was the wrong shape not the wrong size.
I wonder if one day they might accidentally make something the correct size and shape.
The first Q pin was 😁

Because they want it cheap cheap - use the existing molds - custom molds would have added more costs

I'll put up the different £100s and £500s soon.
Original 1961 one (200 made).
FE replica (1530 made?).
1974 official copy (smaller, 200 made).
Repro made before the find.
Hope this clarifies the different ones so there is no confusion.
£500s, same order as above but the 1970s one was a coin/token type.
Garin, thanks very much for the comparison shots! 🙂

As it hasn't been mentioned, the box that my set came in said it was a Limited Edition of 1530.

Putting people off buying the originals by slating them, at the same time on the promise they are getting a better product by buying theirs. Shady.
