Bond clothing showing up in a non-Bond context
So there I was reading about the state of the tech industry that I work in - when I came across this picture of Mr. Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Alphabet/Google.
I immediately found myself unable to concentrate on the article I was reading. Was Mr. Pichai a Bond fan? And it dawned on me, that we are truly fanatics with this strange but fun passion. To be able to pick out such minutiae and figure out what someone is wearing just from a zipper or a few key details takes some serious observational ability. Detective skill is truly honed sharp in this hobby. I suppose it could be coincidence that Sundar has this jacket, but I (won't) give him the benefit of the doubt.
Here's another familiar face:
I've noticed that I've paid a lot more attention to what others wear, both on screen and in life, to see if I can guess a brand. I make mental notes, of course, and wouldn't dare to tread further than my introversion would allow. But in a way, perhaps it's a form of respect to appreciate what others are wearing - and should they have something you recognize, they become a part of a secret club, a subtle understanding that they are "in the know." And we are all the more closer for it.
What Bond items have you seen in a completely non-Bond context? Anyone else out there who you think is a closeted Bond fan?

Spielberg wore the Solden jacket on the Hollywood Reporter cover back in 2016.
Steven Spielberg has worn the Tom Ford Solden as has actor Joel McHale. Spielberg, Been Affleck, and California governor Gavin Newsome have all worn the Bruno Cuchinelli cashmere jacket Daniel Craig has worn for years.
John Varvatos, Belstaff, and Matchless jackets are rather ubiquitous in film and tv. Tom Cruise wore the John Varvatos Cafe suede racer in MI Fallout and will wear a nappa leather version of the Matchless Craig blouson in MI7.
Good eye!
The biggest tell is the shape of the zipper - TF has a very distinctive zipper. The leather ribbings on the side of the zippers are a tell as well, but isn't unique to the brand.
I think Gavin Newsom wearing it is very cool! I think finding people outside the entertainment industry who wear it is what I was getting at.
This will probably be a double post due to the spam filter which didn't like me linking to another post on this board.
So here are the pics:
First Gavin Newsom wearing the jacket at a press conference about refurbishing ventilators in March 2020.
Ben Affleck wearing the jacket when he dated Ana de Armas in March 2020.
And finally Steven Spielberg in March 2020
A couple of BBC News presenters seem to wear Brosnan Bond ties. I saw Huw Edwards wearing the Tomorrow Never Dies Hamburg tie a few years ago:
Alec Baldwin also wears the same time in one of the Mission Impossible films.
Christian Fraser, another BBC newsreader, has been wearing what looks like the Die Another Day circles tie recently.
A couple of BBC News presenters wear Brosnan Bond ties. I posted about Huw Edwards awhile ago:
More recently, Christian Fraser has been appeared to be wearing the Turnbull and Asser circles tie from Die Another Day.
Nice spot.
I never noticed what tie Baldwin was wearing in the MI films. I will have to rewatch and get some photos.
Found it online! Takes place early in the movie.
Thanks.
Just noticed that Ryan Reynolds has now twice been using a riff\variation of a Bond outfit.
Here he is for a recent Mint Mobile commercial, in what seems to be an alternate take on Bond's Norway colors in No Time To Die: green jacket, oatmeal colored shirt, black pants (seen in the ad, though they're more navy it seems).
And here's a pic from the New York Times interview he did during the Deadpool 2 promos back in summer of 2018, which gives off some very strong Spectre Morocco suede outfit vibes, but a more casual version one could wear to a BBQ or party or summer hangout:
While mentioned above, Ben Affleck still sporting the Brunello Cucinelli jacket.
And Gavin Newsom was again wearing the jacket during a press conference, this one on March 2, 2021 in Palo Alto, California.
I mentioned Christian Fraser, a BBC newsreader, wearing a Bond tie earlier in the thread. I managed to take some pictures of an advert for his programme! Two ties from Tomorrow Never Dies and one from Die Another Day.
This is an absolutely cracking spot! I love the movie, but this completely passed me by.
There’s absolutely no way he isn’t a Bond fan. None.
If I had stupid money I'd so buy this jacket, its so beautiful
@RichardCard82 So would I. Probably in a couple colors.
Had to wear a dress shirt to work this week and picked out one of my Costco sport shirts and it reminded me of this...
This is 2 years old but I remembered this take on the Sloop suit from Ryan Reynolds at the Free Guy premiere.
Come on Royale Filmwear take on the Sloop suit next!
