Here is something pretty special from 1966. Maj' the Queen and Prince Philip attended Aston Martin Lagonda in Newport Pagnell and were presented with a scaled down Aston Martin DB5 with Goldfinger accruements for Prince Andrew which had been crafted by AML's apprentice technicians. To accompany this little marvel, printed on a very high quality stock, an A5 size 24 page instruction book for the DB007 Special was also created. This example appears to not have been handled since it was printed 56 years ago? and yes the Donkey loves this piece of tat!

I think as collectors we are all aware of the Gilbert tinplate licensed James Bond Aston Martin DB5 of 1965 but perhaps we are not aware of Aoshin or ASC of Japan who made said tinplate for Gilbert and the smaller licensed tinplate DB5 for Gama of Germany? ASC also marketed the tinplate Gilbert DB5 under their own brand although not licensed by Glidrose however in a near identical box to the Gilbert, ASC also produced the DB5 in silver and rocking horse pooh rare electro-gold plated which were licensed and could therefore carry the 007 brand. Of course there are fakes but the real ones feature a Japanese 007 brand label haphazardly placed on the plated coachwork. The base of the car is embossed Gilbert/007 branded. This particular example is in ex-shop stock condition just as the Donkey likes em! ❤️

Apart from being licensed which was unusual for ASC, enabling them to produce a more pleasing to the eye branded box than the Gilbert example, this appears to have been produced for the Japanese market as there are Japanese symbols on one end of the box as well as on the toy itself. There is an identical example in The OO7 All Guide, a small A5 size book published in Japan in 1997 to coincide with the release of Tomorrow Never Dies. I had heard that the plated Gilbert boxed cars were indeed salesman examples.
Must say I really enjoyed the Best bond collection. I have a question for Donk you say that the PPK used for Live and let die was found but it doesn't have made in W Germany under the walther which is what it should have for manufactured between 1971 to 1974. I have seen a lot of PPKS with the year on the barrel ejection port and all 1973 I have seen have the made in w Germany.
