Hi @knoxj3 I own these Tommy Bahama grey Boracay jeans; they are incredible high quality pants. I still however prefer my Goodfellow light grey jeans for the NTTD Jamaica scene ... a closer match to the Tom Ford jeans. The TB pants grey is a bit too dark in my opinion but wonderful jeans nonetheless and my #2 choice and alternative for NTTD Jamaica outfit.
Hi @Gymkata I 100% concur. I own a great deal of Tommy Bahama clothes and they are famous (notorious) for applying fabric treatments to create a sun drenched, beach washed vibe and sea-salt sprayed look. Handwashing is ideal to preserve the color and fabric treatment. These clothes are fragile and fade. The Boracay pants are indeed marvelous and a great option for QoS Talamone and Haiti outfits - I'm delighted people liked my suggestion!
John Lewis have now brought out the previously mentioned Ted Baker Chatley short sleeve shirt in blue, bright blue and white as well as the pink. Blue is a good alternative for the TB Nassau shirt minus the matching trousers to avoid the pyjama look. £75 unless Smudge7 can find this one at a discount as well 😀
Greetings and Happy Sunday! I want to follow up on this post with everyone later (rushing around today). But I just posted the article on my 4 favorite Craig Bond looks.
These are my four looks as well (plus QoS Haiti and NTTD Jamaica). Most of time I wear the NTTD Jamaica outfit. I have gotten such good mileage from my Tommy Bahama Catalina silk shirt, Goodfellow grey jeans and screen accurate Sperry shoes. I have the Barbour Covert (which is just fine!), the Vuarnet sunglasses and for the hat I have a couple but my own personal choice is the Barbour solid navy waxed cotton cap.
@Gymkata The QoS Haiti look came very close to being on the list. I'm working on the spring jackets post and will include the Y-3 in that. But I also thought that the real find was that polo shirt alternative from Grayers. It's the closest I've seen to the TF polo in a long time. But I definitely need to update the post on the Levi's STA-Prest jeans! So much to do! 🤣
The SPECTRE finale look was a tough one. I've never done a dedicated post on alternatives for that jacket, mainly because there aren't enough alternatives in a given season to make it worth while. So I always end up including whatever I find in the Best Budget Style Find posts.
But the real challenge is an alternative for those damn puppy tooth frog mouth trousers! I always keep an eye out for some and I haven't seen anything half way decent in years! It was also came close on the list of Best Looks. But I felt anything I came up with wouldn't have done it justice.
Cheers!
John
Edit: just want to add that the TB Boracay jeans everyone is talking about will make it into the posts and I'll make sure to give appropriate credit.
I can't recall if I posted this last year, but I regret getting lazy on this Michael Kors Airsoft suit from Macy's last summer (July-August) when it went on clearance.
Just posting this here as a reference. It seems to be on sale now as well.
Looks like a good alternative for the Skyfall PTS suit, and also maybe the Goldfinger 3 piece.
Happy Hump Day, gang! Alright, slight change of plans. I've moved the post for the NTTD Jamaica look to Sunday and I've updated the post on the QoS STA-Prest 306 jeans. And I included the TBs some of you recommended (with the care warning from Gymtaka!). So please let me know if I gave everyone the appropriate credit.
Tomorrow I'll publish the post on alternatives for the Y-3 jacket. So that should make those you who thought the Haiti look should have been included in the 4 Best Looks post happy! 😁
Also, I know I just said I couldn't find good alternatives for the SP London finale puppytooth pants. But I was in Nordstrom Rack yesterday and came across some from AG Jeans that could work:
No, it can mean the same thing ...😈 But (in case you didn't know), Hump Day in this context refers to the middle of the week: Monday and Tuesday are tough, Wednesday is the worst and then Thursday and Friday are an easy downhill into the weekend.
Quick question for everyone: I'm working on a couple of small projects with different vendors. One idea we're tossing around is a limited edition series of scarves inspired by Bond. Is this something that would interest anyone? Any scarf in particular you'd like to see? What about material and pricing? Any input would be appreciated!
Hi all! We have a couple of post updates. I wasn't able to post the first one due to AJB's small technical blip. But I found some good options for the QoS Haiti jacket:
@JB1106340 That is a great budget option for the duster! Nice find!
This weekend is a little crazy for me (my wife and son are riding in a 40 mile bicycle rally and I'm playing the role of support crew). So please excuse me if I'm out of contact for the next couple of days.
@Garyorange I haven't looked for one in a while. But it was one I was planning on hunting for it again closer towards the fall (along with the coat from the QoS finale). Sorry I don't have anything off the top of my head!
@armenianmovieman Good timing! I'm working on the post update for the SPECTRE Morocco chinos for tomorrow (the J&Ms are on there). And I was just starting to check out blazer options. I think the problem with that Tombolini is that it has so many thread colors running through the fabric, it gives it a much warmer look. It's like the base color is a rust. But then we have this purple cross check overlay that makes it lean more pinkish. After what happend with Daniel (and knowing how hard he worked to really nail that color for his repro), I've come to the conclusion the safest thing is to go with the "Screen" color (sort of warm mid-brown thanks to the filters washing it out) rather than trying to match the "In Real Life" color, which is almost impossible to confirm just from photos. I think it was you that shared the Tyrwhitt blazer? That, to me, is the better choice for the money
My blazer didn't shrink noticeably when I did the RIT treatment. Normally you're supposed to use near boiling water for the dye. But I just used boiling water to create the dye solution and then added that to cold water in the bin (so the dye bath was basically just lukewarm). And then I hung it dry after rinsing in cold water. So the fabric was never exposed to that much heat.
Morning all! I've updated the post on the SPECTRE Morocco Chinos with new options. As I mentioned, I included the J&M chinos and credited @armenianmovieman (with an assist from @St_John_Smythe ) for the find
Just so everyone has a heads up, I have a LOT planned for May on the website. Definitely some Bond posts (sunglasses, starting the annual series on summer shirts, a (hopefully!) fun post on how to fix bad Bond outfits) but I'm also planning posts on other spy films and style icons. I think if I get 75% of what I want to do done, I'll be happy! 🤣
But I would be very interested to hear other what other actors/films you look to for inspiration.
I tend to think of those the Skyfall Barbour look is the one that really crossed over- it's the one I felt that even non fans saw in the movie and thought looks great and wanted to copy.
To go along with the Morocco chino alternatives, I've had this blazer on my mind a lot lately. 😄
It looks like this is the SS22 version of the Brunello blazer? This is 49% wool, 42% linen, and 9% silk and costs $4,000....... I've seen it mentioned around the forum that it's possible to do a group buy of the exact screen accurate blazer with BC. I've always been curious how low it could go with enough people lol
Also, Old Navy has a decent Talamone Levi's alternative at the moment going for $21 after promo code. This is a boot cut jean, but there also seems to be a straight leg twill version (linked below) as well but a little bit pricier.
Last night my Instagram account was hacked. So first and foremost I want to warn everyone to NOT trust any messages that come from that account! It's not me. I explain more about what happened in this post:
If any of you are willing to help spread the message that the Iconic Alternatives IG was hacked, I would greatly appreciate it. Again, I want to make sure that as many people as know as possible so that no one else is put at risk!

Morning! I've updated the post on Bond's blue Matera jacket with new alternatives:
Cheers!
John
Alternative for the Steve McQueen suede bomber jacket. Reiss Dilan suede bomber jacket. £398 so maybe not so much a budget alternative.
John Lewis have now brought out the previously mentioned Ted Baker Chatley short sleeve shirt in blue, bright blue and white as well as the pink. @Mailfist challenge accepted 😂 £59.95 (20% off) at Country Attire 😉

Greetings and Happy Sunday! I want to follow up on this post with everyone later (rushing around today). But I just posted the article on my 4 favorite Craig Bond looks.
Interested to see if you guys agree with my choices or what you would pick instead.

Great minds think alike Gymkata. These were to two I would have added as well.
These are my four looks as well (plus QoS Haiti and NTTD Jamaica). Most of time I wear the NTTD Jamaica outfit. @St_John_Smythe I'm updating the NTTD Jamaica look post for publishing tomorrow. That's one of the reasons I left it off the initial list.
@Mailfist and @Smudge7 Great work as always! 🍸️

Think I agree John. Difficult to whittle down to just four. I also really like these two from CR;

Looking a big more, it seems the Ralph Lauren option is wool, and is a better alternative for both Skyfall PTS and Goldfinger 3 piece:

Puppy Tooth ($118.97):
An interesting Herringbone in the Black/Grey that would also work in a pinch ($98.97)
Sizes are all over the place. But some of you may find a pair that works.
Cheers!
John
Happy Hump day John. I can only assume where you come from hump means something different than where I come from. 😂
No, it can mean the same thing ...😈 But (in case you didn't know), Hump Day in this context refers to the middle of the week: Monday and Tuesday are tough, Wednesday is the worst and then Thursday and Friday are an easy downhill into the weekend.

Good to know. Not an expression I've ever heard before. Still any day with a hump in it is a happy day 😀
Hard to argue with that in terms of similarities! It's also £15 so pretty damn budget!

Hi John
Any good alternatives to the Skyfall ‘rooftop’ overcoat.
much harder to find than I thought it would be!
$400 for a brown wool silk linen blend blazer by Tombolini!
Is it just me or does this have the same issue as the Royale blazer of looking a bit more pink than intended?
Maybe someone with more experience (@canoe2 ) with the original or Royale linen blazer can shed some light?

Thanks for the response @canoe2 !
I was also curious if the Rit dye shrank your blazer, or does that only happen with the coffee dye?

Great post! Very enjoyable.
I tend to think of those the Skyfall Barbour look is the one that really crossed over- it's the one I felt that even non fans saw in the movie and thought looks great and wanted to copy.
Alternative for the TB shirt. £35
Alternative for the SP Morocco jacket. £90
Both are Jack & Jones. On sale in Thread.
Great post and Tenet!

Sorry to hear that John - hope you get it sorted without too much hassle, fingers crossed
