Bond Anniversary clothing releases

Hey all,

For a while there was a ton of talk about a few Bond clothing brands getting into the mix with potential capsules, releases, etc., maybe around the anniversary or having to do with the anniversary. Things seemed to have slowed down significantly as I haven’t really heard much at all about this anymore. Does anyone have any info on this stuff or are we thinking it was a tad more wishful thinking us Bond fanatics were trying to will into existence?

I know October is the date that seems to be thrown around but with OB being one of the main brands that had kinda been hinted towards, seemed like an odd time of the year for that type of clothing to release. Also highly possible I just completely missed something in that this just isn’t happening?

Whilst out and about in London more than one Bond related brand has recently engaged me in some Monty Python re-enactment over the fact International James Bond Day is in October

But some, including one of the above, especially if associated with the Craig-era have expressed needing to step back slightly as they view the Anniversary look back as primarily about the Connery/Moore eras.

All I'm saying is, never mind how subtle it is, I will not buy anything with the 007 logo in the labels, much less if it's openly visible on the outside. One of the things I've always liked best about this hobby of ours is its ability to remain a "secret" thing, only for conoisseurs.

A fun t-shirt for leisure time? Sure. The funny socks? Also ok. But no, not even the OB or N Peal fine products work for me with the labelling. My limit's at the themed boxes (those stay at home).

I know I'm probably in a minority here, but I HAD to say it.

The sole exception I've made so far, AFAIK, are the Tom Ford QoS sunglasses not available otherwise (unless you went for the Oliver Peoples "inspiration source").

IF OB were to release something, it would be nice if they did it now in time for summer holidays, but either they're not, or they're happy to tie in with October (which maybe EON have stipulated in licencing agreements?)

Thought I might pop back in here and see if anybody has heard anything thus far? I know there’s rumors that technically nothing will happen until after October. But are we sure brands are even still doing stuff?

I thought I’d heard OB was one of the brands, obviously I could be wrong, but them being a more summer time brand really had me wondering what a winter release would look like if they are even doing one.

I'm hoping for some more Adidas Ultraboosts and tracksuits; would love to get that white 007 themed ZNE jacket.

    Yes. Consssssiderably.

I popped into Orlebar Brown opposite The Burlington Arcade and had a great chat with one of the staff. The news is not that good, as far as I could ascertain. She said that, as far as she's been told, all that features in the 60th Anniversary range are new colour variations of the Dr No polo shirt, different colour variations for the Goldfinger onesie, and different colour variations on the Dr No shorts. More than a bit disappointed, if that's all that they are offering. I will know nearer to October 5th what the full list of additions will be.

Haha - I did joke that OB would just rehash colours on the other thread. To be fair I think there is little else they can reimagine - prob should of saved their heritage line for this year.

On another note - wonder if CJ have anything up their sleeve?

Loved the Macallan release yesterday - disliked the piss take price and website launch

Nothing too exciting from the N Peal release in my opinion. Would have loved to see the CR cardigan.

Shame to hear about OB release in different colors if true.

At least my $$ is safe for now.

Imagine if OB released a QoS Harrington similar to the TF one, or QoS inspired Y3, or the CR Venice polo. Maybe not exact copies, but something similar. Something we have wanted for years. I think they would sell out!

It is ironic that Bond himself only buys and wears the very best, and the Bond films themselves are a mark of top quality, but put the 007 logo on anything but a film poster and it instantly becomes cheap tat 😄

Not excited by the N Peal stuff. Waiting on the Crockett and J stuff now.

shots fired by NP - they're definitely out to eat a lot of other lunches with this collection.

So here are the Orlebar Brown offerings in their "new" 007 Capsule collection. I think that my wallet is safe this time 'round......

Likewise. It’ll be interesting to see how much of a demand there will be for a Goldfinger onesie that isn’t screen accurate. Surely the appeal of their first release of this item in blue was that you get to dress like Bond. What would be the point in buying these versions?

  • emtiememtiem SurreyPosts: 5,998MI6 Agent

Yes the romper suit in different colours does seem an odd choice, what situation would you wear those in?

I've never been sure quite how SA that romper is anyway, the shorts don't seem quite obscenely short enough 😁

What's been released by NP for the anniversary?

I don't know if these are new releases but Connolly has some new and frankly tacky t-shirts on their website - not sure why they bothered 🤨

Would love some TF clobber though, although I do have my doubts about that.

Yes but my martini's still dry.

    🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️

for those who didn't find the 007 logo on the BP's subtle enough

126 € each! be quick, I've been told that these are very limited since there wont be enough fabric for a 2nd run of plain white shirts. Oh the Giubbino gets another restock today...nevermind

    Thanks for the heads-up Blair.

I agree, very disappointing and lazy from OB. Get the impression they've lost interest and just doing the bare minimum, token gesture.

Haven't seen any new offerings from N Peal? Can't see them on the website anyway. Unless I'm missing something?

Can’t help but wonder are we just hyping all this up way too much or something because it all seems a bit underwhelming. Really was looking forward to these releases.

Remember that first OB 007 Collection?? It was AMAZING. So many fun pieces and such a nostalgic shot in the arm. It was an exciting collection. This almost seems like its just page 1 of the collection and the rest got left off.

Could this just be a minor tease by chance?

If the Goldfinger suit looks slouchy on their own model, I expect it will look slouchy on most everyone.

I'm interested to try on these tailored clothes to see how they fit, but I fear that many people will be left out as these suits are only sold in one length. I suspect the model is wearing one size too large, probably because his regular size was too short on him. So the fit will work for people of a certain size, but it will look too big/tight or short/long on many others. The Goldfinger suit trousers have the issue of having reverse pleats, so they have a fuller GoldenEye/Tomorrow Never Dies look than the trimmer forward pleats that Connery wore, which is contributing to the slouchiness. My biggest issue with the Goldfinger suit is that they couldn't be bothered to give it double vents like the Golden Gun jacket, and they didn't make it in the correct pattern. These are, of course, just homage pieces and aren't meant to be direct copies of the originals, but I'd like to know why certain decisions have been made.

You would think they'd make the Skyfall swim trunks a permanent staple, or at least a big showcase for the 60th anniversary.

    Yes. Consssssiderably.

I’m looking forward to the video reviews of this suit as the size guide makes no sense. A size 44 chest seems to come with 44 inch waist trousers.

  • SadanoyamaSadanoyama Posts: 35MI6 Agent

The Goldfinger suit looks boxy and odd. If that's the best photo they could get from the shoot then they are in trouble. Not sure how tall the model is, but Connery always shows a 1/4 inch of shirt cuff when he wears his suits but the model ain't doing that so it just looks rough. Plus the trousers have belt loops on and they won't be able to drape like bespoke side-adjusted. They do have buttons for braces but then you'll have to have the belt loops removed otherwise you'll look weird. Are Mason and Sons suits better than this in real life? I'd love to hear opinions and experience of them. You can never tell just by looking at a jacket on a headless mannequin.

Mason and Sons Goldfinger suit is excellent and you get it tailored to you. i get dissappointed with Companies that dont even specialise in producing suits trying to get on the bandwagon, and dont even start me with the Navy Army jumper lol

Cheers for the intel. I see Turnbull & Asser have announced a 60th anniversary collection. I hope there's something decent in there.

this is more exciting - where did you read this?

Here's hoping for some more ties.
