I see that line the same way as Calvin Dyson does. Silva uses homosexual seduction as an interrogation technique. If Bond had reacted by shouting: "NO, STOP! That's discusting! I'm straight, just stop at once!" Silva would've known this is the button to push, so to speak. Instead Bond was smart and said the line you just quoted and shut down that strategy. It worked.
yes thats how I think that dialog works in-universe too.
metafictionally I also see a reference to the torture scene in Casino Royale, which had a homoerotic look to it (with the villain even complimenting the hero on his muscular bod)
but the meaning can be constructed by the viewer, and there are undoubtedly viewers out there who took it to mean "yes! this Bond swings both ways", and where is the evidence in the films that he doesn't? he chases less women than any Bond except Dalton and theres some huge gaps in the timeline where anything could have happened.
whereas most oldschool BondFans choose to interpret as you have, because their Bond is dead butch. A safely ambiguous line which can grow the audience while not alienating the old fans who're still buying most of the tickets.
@noimpression723 whats your evidence for supposing CraigBond to be bi?
I think they handled it very well in CR. Those who wish to see a gay subtext in that scene are free to do so, but I don't think anybody found the scene upsetting or "wrong".
and of course he's only shagging them "for queen and country". What did ConneryBond say to Fiona Volpe "what? you think I enjoyed that?"
Bond'd be seriously compromising his job if he refused to shag a man if the fate of the world depended on it
that said, I really cant picture ConneryBond speaking the "do you think its my first time?" line, he'd probably break my nose for even trying to imagine it
but check out that spy film with a young Pierce Brosnan and an aging Michael Caine. Brosnan's character was willing to do whatever it takes to complete the mission.
In my opinion one of James Bond's basic characteristics is that he's a womanizing straight man. Everyone who wants a bisexual or gay action hero are free to create an interesting and exciting character, not changing a hero so much that he's in danger of becoming someone else.
I read every 007 book (Fleming and post-Fleming), so I specifically pointed out Craig’s Bond (not James Bond as a character) may be bisexual.. he seems way more in tune with Nomi’s utter manly body and presence rather than Madeleine.
I find her so androgynous and hot I can’t describe.. I’m bisexual myself but she makes me so gay for her (I know it doesn’t make any sense since she’s a woman and I’m a man but still xx)

Twice in the cinema, once at home. For me that's very unusual.
At least 8 times in the cinema, and about 3 times at home…so far 👀
She’s definitely manly looking and beautiful, to me.
Craig’s Bond must be bisexual I guess so I’m sure he could easily be attracted to Nomi’s masculine body and look.
Lol me too!
Must he?
"what makes you think itd be his first time?"

If Bond was bi it would make sense, as it doubles the number of people he's able to shag 😁 He's a horny guy.

I think he’s a total shagger and always has been 😄

I don't think she's manly at all, she's very feminine.
