@caractacus potts I will look for those old photographs of the shop when I get back to my house full time - the roof is being repaired now after last year’s typhoon - almost one year to the day - I will update how things have been here on the anniversary in a weeks time.
Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.

Congratulations indeed on your 5000 posts, @CoolHandBond. I hope there will be many more from you. As someone who never feels happier than when he is perusing a second hand bookshop, I too loved your thread on owning one. It was nice to see things from the other side of the counter, as it were. Wishing you all the very best with the repair of your roof and I hope that you get back to your house as soon as is practicable.

It must've been one of the first Bond films I saw as a child in he early 1990s on UTV. The beginning of my Bond fandom. Happy 50th Birthday to LALD and the beginning of the Roger Moore era of Bond films.

congrats to @CoolHandBond
of those 5000 posts, my favorites were the paperback book cover thread, and your personal history of the Rise and Fall of a Used BookShop
Thank you for the kind words, gentlemen.

I'm just pondering 5000 thoughts on James Bond. Goodness, I need a drink...
I'll just sit here very quietly....
It's a lot to take in all at once.
I’ve had to do something since I retired 😁
@Silhouette Man Thanks for your response, work is continuing on the house in typical “Philippine Time” 😏
I was going to say "Egyptian builders" but it doesn't quite work in that context. You get the sentiment though, I'm sure. 😀
Everyone is invited to follow this year's James Bond Christmas story that's being daily updated in the Imaginary Conversations thread. 🎄🌨️🎁
You'll find it at Imaginary Conversations - Page 81 — ajb007
I am…and it’s good fun 🍸
I'll have a glass of Shloer please, bartender. I hope it doesn't go to my head. 😉
As you wish!
Apple or Grape, red or white?
White Grape would be great, bartender. Thank you. 🙂
Shloer, that’s a blast from the past, my grandparents used to serve it when we went for Sunday lunch sometimes. Is it still made?
Yes, it certainly is still made though the bottles are thinner nowadays and have clear glass as opposed to the green glass of the old bottles.
The Green, Green Glass Of Home? 😁
Indeed, complete with foil wrapping. Those were the days!
(Serves a large selection of everyones favorite drinks, and puts a large roast turkey in front of Holly. Her eyes light up appreciatively.)
Next two rounds are on the house!!
Happy Christmas Everyone!

Happy Christmas Everyone!!! Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday.
Happy new year to everyone!
Happy New Year 2023 to all on AJB!
70 years since the publication of Casino Royale will be something good to celebrate this year. 🙂

A bit early to celebrate LALD. July, I think, still nothing like a few shandies in preparation
On a side note, the long-running British sitcom Last of the Summer Wine also celebrates its half-centenary this year.

Yes, we like to slip it in early when we can. LALD lives on in our collective minds like Baron Samedi. 😈
