That can be argued. But how much was Eva Green and how much was Martin Campbell in her scenes in CR? In my opinion Nolan rarely does sexual/sexy content and his movies can often seem a bit cold, but he has made sexy scenes. With every director there is give and take. If Edgar Wright (?) gets the job the movie will probably be funnier than it would've been if Nolan makes it, but there are almost certainly things Nolan does better than Wright (big action scenes?).
She looks very nice, but I don't remember anything sexy about Hathaway in Batman, and I'm not even sure which film the second one is from. Looking nice isn't the same as being sexy- if you want a sexy Catwoman then it's Pfeiffer by a mile: Hathaway is incredibly chaste next to her. I could put a picture up of Joanna Cassidy in Blade Runner- she's incredibly attractive and wearing barely anything under her see-through plastic mac, but her getting shot multiple times whilst falling through windows isn't exactly sexy 😄
Whereas if you ask me, the scene in Bond's room with Solange in CR is one of the sexiest in the Bond movies, and not just because Ms Murino is very attractive.
Those are my feelings, as well. I don't think Nolan would have known what to do with a twenty-five year-old Eva Green, but she isn't the only sexy thing in Casino Royale. The scene between Bond and Solange is absolutely smoldering. And even Craig emerging from the sea in his skimpy swimsuit is part of what makes the movie feel like a throwback to the days of Connery.
I have every confidence Nolan could make a good Bond movie. But as a director, he seems uninterested in sex. That puts him as far from Ian Fleming as a man can get.
On the plus side, Nolan does seem interested in clothes—which is very Flemingesque. The outfits in films like Tenet or Inception are interesting if not always my cup to tea.
Thinking back I can't remember a single sex scene in any of Nolan's movies. I'd say Nolan knows how to film attractive actresses, but you may be correct in saying sex doesn't interest him as a filmmaker.

Denis Villeneuve won't do it, but the scene in Blade Runner 2049 where Ana de Armas "transposes" with Mackenzie Davis shows he has the right instincts IMO.
I think Ryan Coogler knows how to bring an erotic charge to his movies (usually with his male leads).
Steve McQueen directed Shame which is game, set, and match. I'm not a fan of the film, but the man is obviously fascinated by sex.

I have seen Black Panther and Creed, both good movies. Personally I'd rather see Steve McQueen direct Bond, both because he's British and because of his work.

Nolan already made his Bond film with inception (with dashes of Bond sprinkled throughout three Batman movies and Tenet);
The Bond franchise already made its Nolan film with Skyfall;
Nolan can't (or won't) do sexy;
Nolan is too much of a control freak for what is, at the end of the day, a producers' franchise.
The only new development is that Nolan's star power as director has cooled a bit, and this would certainly be a noisy hire that now benefits both sides in terms of buzz. I hope they don't do it!
I loved Creed so I had rated Coogler, but I'm starting to wonder if it was an exception for him. Thought Black Panther was extremely average. I saw someone say that it's a film which is more important than it is actually good, which I think is a good way of putting it.

Wakanda Forever might have wrung him out on big-budget stuff for a minute, though. He might need a break on spectacle.

Matthew Vaughn has piss-take'd himself out of the running at this point, and Guy Ritchie is swirling the drain a bit these days. Edgar Wright knows funny, knows action, knows his film history and knows his Bond. I'd take a gamble on him.
It strikes me that we're in the wrong thread, and I guess much of the responsibility for this de-railing is mine. Paul Mescal is having a 'moment'. He's a great actor and it looks as though his next film Carmen will show he has the physicality for Bond. He also wore a white tuxedo to the Oscars, which felt as though he was auditioning for the character somewhat. He just needs to sort his hair out.
I had wondered if AJT being Kraven the Hunter would mean he'd become too high profile in a role to become Bond but there was so much noise about him being the front and center candidate that I thought it was likely him, just as many months before Craig was unveiled as Bond, he'd been named in the UK tabloids.
Their conversation couldn't have been any more tenuous around this. Maybe these guys have remarkable connections and a track record of being right before anyone else, but I'm not wagering a penny either way based on the say so of some YouTube guys.
Mescal is to young, he's 27 and in that picture he looks even younger IMHO. TPTB have already said the actor has to be in their 30s, Bond has to be a man with some life experience.

Very few, if anyone, mentioned Craig until a short time before it was mentioned. That is a little harsh. He's a really fantastic actor, I think that is what distinguishes him from interchangeable handsome men often suggested. He was brilliant in Aftersun and even better in Normal People. He does need a makeover and a bit of tidying up. However, that is easily accomplished. He is also about to play the lead role in the Gladiator sequel opposite Denzel Washington, Eon surely cannot ignore that.
I don't understand this desire to cast minorities as white characters but not the other way around. I wish Hollywood would show some logical consistency.

But one can see it in a different way: Minorities (in the UK and USA) are rarely the stars of major action movies and can be seen as underrepresented. About 20% of the population in the UK are not white, but I can only think of one British action film with a non-white hero (Attack the block)
About 40% of the population in the USA are not white. I don't have any numbers, but I suspect more than 60% of the leads in major action movies are white.
