Skyfall corduroy trousers alternatives help

WooperthWooperth Posts: 22MI6 Agent

I cannot seem to find a suitably dark alternative for the Allsaints Iggy corduroy trousers from Skyfall. I have the sports jacket version but I think the colour is still the same as the original, and I am wondering if it is just not faded enough or if trousers that I have tried are not dark enough, or some combination of both.

I tried the Espresso colour corduroy trousers from Huckberry and the fit is pretty good, and they are nice and comfortable, but the colour is not quite dark enough against the Barbour jacket.

So then I tried the recently released Tellis corduroy trousers from A.G. Jeans, and they are a little bit darker, though also a more richly saturated brown, and even slimmer, which is nice, but they still do not seem quite dark enough against the Barbour jacket as seen in Skyfall.

I really want to get the look down right, so I am wondering if there are any good options that you all know of that are suitably dark and also get the slim to skinny fit down correctly. Cheers.

    Those Tellis cords look good!

Keep in mind that the Allsaints were supposedly dyed to be even darker, plus Skyfall was filmed with filters that further distorted the colors of the screen worn items.

I wouldn't be afraid to try RIT dye (I'd recommend charcoal with the brown). I've had a lot of success with the stovetop method. The trick is to practice with another cloth first and then make your initial attempt with a more diluted solution so that you can gradually darken the garment with a second attempt rather than overdoing it the first time.

They weren’t dyed, that’s an urban myth created early on because the dark versions were so rare. They were that dark right off the shelf. The only alterations done to the screeen used trousers was the length.

The Huckberry cords look the closest in colour to the actual Allsaints. The Tess are way too dark.

So is Bitter Choc from Allsaints the correct colour for the cords? Or were they that faded black color cord that is almost charcoal?

    Yes. They were bitter chocolate.

I have both of them with me and I think that the stills shown for the Tellis are way darker on screen than they are in reality. The Huckberry pair looks good on screen but I still have the problem that the Skyfall trousers as shown on screen, even if filtered, do appear way darker against the Barbour. The Huckberry ones are less dark than the Barbour and the Tellis ones are perhaps only mildly darker.

If you check the bts stills you can see that the corduroys arent that dark as they apprear on the screen, especially in contrast with the black cords from Sam Mendes and with the confirmation from Asp9mm I have no doubt that the bitter chocs are the correct ones.

as I see a buckle here: has the belt ever been indentified?

I stand corrected, and since I own the Huckberrys myself feel even better.

How do you find the colour to be with the Barbour then, though?

Definitely browner than the trousers look on screen, but they’re a perfect match colorwise for the ones in the still photo above.

By browner do you mean that yours are even darker than the jacket? So maybe yours and the screen used jacket have been faded a bit, because for me they do not even come close to the level of contrast as seen on screen.

I think that I should probably end up returning the Huckberry pair.

Maybe, but they are more charcoal than brown and in any event I will probably end up staying with the Tellis.

On a related note, I just saw this product page on Huckberry.

    https://huckberry.com/store/barbour/category/p/80814-james-bond-wax-blazer-jacket

Is it a Barbour partnered re release of the original, or is it just their labelling style for the Barbour Sports Jacket?

I had been looking for a Skyfall corduroy option and bought these from Grayers last week. They arrived and IMO they are a good alternative. In the Coffee Bean color.

If anyone is UK based - I have a few pairs of Allsaints Iggy Jeans Cords and Cigarette Jeans Cords (identical just rebranded for next season)

    - both skinny fit (32W) in various colour ways from the original run - my daughter’s at LCF but works part time at Allsaints and sourced some old returns.

Kind regards JB (@illustratingbond on Instagram)

I'd be interested in the one up from the beige pair in the first pic; they look charcoal-y?

I like the brown ones with stretch from Ralph lauren. Very comfortable and a good fit.

I dyed a burgandy pair of Iggy's a few years ago and that worked well. But I also recently bought some Hartfords that I like more, particularly for the higher rise: https://www.mrporter.com/en-gb/mens/product/hartford/clothing/casual-trousers/tim-straight-leg-cotton-blend-corduroy-trousers/1647597318981415

Quite nice. Only issue is they do not have jeans pockets like on screen but otherwise a nice colour.
