I'd like to congratulate Narges Muhammedi who today received the Nobel Peace Prize. She is sitting in jail in her homeland Iran for working for the freedom and human rights of Iranians, especially women.
Today the town of Kautokeino has -42 degrees Celsius, about 43 Fahrenheit. Never heard of the place, you say? 😲
It's a Norwegian with a mostly Sami population town just north of Sweden. How did the population and local authorities react? "This is fairly normal. We don't see any reason to start any special measures" said the mayor. I try to imagine how London or even Oslo would've reacted to such temperatures ....

It is colder in Finland, that's true. I believe I could survive there if I ever managed to learn to say sentences like "can I buy some food?" and ""please let me in, I'm freezing to death!" in their language. On second thought, that means I would probably die ...

I think posters were very good at avoiding political discussions about the issue in other countries than Russia and Ukraine, especially who supports who and why. This makes me wonder what happened with the thread. Barbel doesn't know why it's gone.

Yes, I don't remember anything contentious occurring there either. It seems all of Gymkata's posts are gone as is his account itself. I don't know why either but perhaps we'll get to the bottom of it.

I've experienced temperatures down to about -25 celsius, and that was enough for me.

There was indeed. I can't find it now either. Could it possibly have been archived or deleted due to its contentious nature? I'm not sure.
Edit: I'm pretty sure it was a thread created by @Gymkata but his account now seems to be gone and all of his posts with it. Strange.
