The Art of War

Hoping to draw on the collective knowledge of the group so thanks in advance.

In Die Another Day a copy of 'The Art of War' ends up skewered in the fight between Miranda and Jinx.

Any idea as to whether this is a commercially available copy or a purpose made prop for the film. I am hoping the former and keen to identify given that a commercially available copy of Birds of the West Indies features in the same film.

Thanks again.

I have had a look as I hoped I could post a link and caption it 'Read this...bitch.' Unfortunately I've found nothing. Sorry! Although I did get to watch the fight scene again; I'd forgotten Bond's corny slow motion punch on Graves. Good luck with your search!

I've always thought it was custom made, or at least the cover. Maybe the interior is blank. In fact, others have made the book and shown it here. Seems difficult to find any info, even on AJB. Food for thought:

Personally I would try and get ahold of a random hardcover copy around the same size and have a business create the foil cover for you. Knife is easy enough to acquire, I've bought cheapies as 'diving' knives and cut off the red rubber grip.

Always have an escape plan. Mine is watching James Bond films.

Thanks for the pointers - agree - probably custom made cover on a stock book. Looks like embossed leather with gold foil on the embossed sections

I think this is reproducible - I’m gonna ask around some binding/print companies looks like a burgundy faux leather effect A4 notebook with a gold foil print in Roman font - the symbol will be trickiest bit

One of our very own members made a fantastic replica which is extremely close to the original. Not sure if there any more available. --Ed
