This is what AI says Jacob Elordi looks like as James Bond

  • SeanIsTheOnlyOneSeanIsTheOnlyOne Posts: 503MI6 Agent

I'd Iike an actor who has physical similarities with the literary version, like Dalton (or even Craig), a guy who makes me feel I'm watching a modern version of the character created by Fleming.

I don't have that feeling with Elordi.

Here is Jacob Elordi in scenes from GoldenEye and Tomorrow Never Dies

I've suggested him previously and the more I see of Callum Turner the more I like him as Bond. Plus, I still say he has something of Hoagy Carmichael about him.

    "Any of the opposition around..?"

I am coming around to Callum Turner, though do need to check out Masters of the Air first, I recently saw photos of Nicholas Galitzine at the Mary & George premiere. He has the look of a young Timothy Dalton

    Sorry. I don't see it.

  • HarryCanyonHarryCanyon Posts: 355MI6 Agent

Me neither. He'd make a good Stamper though.

    Here is Nicholas Galitzine...

Also Austin Butler has commented that he wants the role of James Bond

Cosmo Jarvis from the new series, Shōgun.

I was just going to mention Jarvis as a possible Bond candidate. Might just be a little on the short side at 5'10" but I have been watching Shogun and the guy has tons of screen presence, charisma and can act. I also get the sense that he could bring some dark humor to Bond. Not that this is a Bond trait, but Jarvis is one of the best on screen deliverer of curse words and profanity I have seen and heard in a long time. The new Shogun mini series has been excellent so far. If they ever decided to do a faithful to the novel version of YOLT, Hiroyuki Sanada would make the prefect Tiger Tanaka.

Some more media speculation with comments by the actor, this time Jack O'Connell. I used to think he was a potential candidate but I think he's too short after the comments by BB and MGW.

  • SomeoneSomeone Posts: 1,586MI6 Agent

He's too young. I see what MGW means now, Bond needs to have some life experience. Elordi looks like a baby in those pics. Is that AI creating those pics? Great job.

  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,330MI6 Agent

I think Elordi looks like a grown man in those AI images.

O'Connell says something very relevant about the artistic way they want to take with the next iteration. It fortunately proves there are still some actors who consider a good script and a good director are more important than just the satisfaction of having themselves saying THE line. And I appreciate this state of mind.

Craig was not obsessed with the part and wasn't even sure about it at first. I'd like the new "candidates" to behave the proper way. There's nothing more irritating than having famous actors talking about Bond again and again while there's nothing suggesting they should be more considered than any other eligible and unknown actor who doesn't think it would be a pity not to get the part.

I wish the next actor will be someone who currently doesn't expect anything from BB and MGW and who only focuses on the present when he wakes up in the morning.

After what I saw in Dune 2, Austin Butler would smash the Bond role.

Austin Butler as James Bond would print money. Nobody is hotter right now than him.

    Hello all!

I think the stories make the Bond. With some exceptions - Connery comes to mind - but - he was also the first. Daniel Craig - after many Bonds - pulled it off. He made some lesser stories feel great.

I thought Brosnan was the artificial Bond but, he had some great stories. The Carver/CNN-like plot was just good enough to be real!

Casino Royale is so high that I worry that everything else will look pale. Lee Pace - but he's 44 and he's American. I find him to have the eyes and the smile - which gives him charisma.

A nice Sunday to you guys!

I think Brosnan backing Cillian Murphy as the next 007 is a good reminder that former Bond actors are not necessarily better judges than the rest of us when it comes to casting. Obviously Murphy is a brilliant actor with lots of screen presence. He's also British and male. But that's all and that's not enough. He's in his mid 50's, 172 cm tall and doesn't have the Bond look.

  • LuciusNightmareLuciusNightmare Posts: 264MI6 Agent

In Brosnan's defence, he was asked the question and he's hardly going to be rude since he is attending the event with Cillian also in attendance. What else is he going to say? I was just thinking that back in 2005 wasn't Heath Ledger at one point a leading contender to be Bond? He would have been kinda fantastic. What a great tragedy that we lost that brilliant talent.

Dark hair, blue eyes, thin face, some kind of cruel mouth...for those like me who love the literary version of the character, it would not be the worst choice 😉

Having said that, I completely agree with you. His age makes his odds very unlikely. I don't believe one second BB will hire someone who will not be in position to play Bond for at least 15 years (she already said that about other actors).

  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,330MI6 Agent

I think Brosnan could've mentioned someone else in that situation without being rude. It would be different if Murphy was often mentioned as a potential Bond, but he wasn't. If someone like Henry Cavill was sitting next to him it would be rude even though Murphy is a much better actor.

Again, it’s not the first time Cillian’s name has come up as a potential Bond candidate…he’s been mentioned for a few years - certainly by the bookies 🙄

In all fairness to Brosnan, Cillian probably would make an excellent Bond…and he’s only passing comment on a question he was asked…Brosnan knows he doesn’t pick the next Bond ☺️

I don't know if Murphy has been mentioned that often as a future Bond. The bookies seem to mention every male British actor aged 20 to sixty. Can't remember seeing him on any top ten lists, but I could be wrong. What I do feel certain about is that Murphy is too old, smart and professional to be offended if Brosnan mentioned anyone else.

I think Cillian Murphy would've acted perfectly if he ever played Bond, but in my opinion he would still be wrong in the role. A bit like if Meryl Streep would've acted much better than Denise Richards in TWINE, but she would still be wrong for the role. (just to be clear, whoever gets cast as Bond should be a good actor).

  • ichaiceichaice LondonPosts: 602MI6 Agent

Cillian Murphy is Irish, not British.

    Yes. Considerably!
  • Sir MilesSir Miles The Wrong Side Of The WardrobePosts: 27,746Chief of Staff

I suppose it depends upon your definition of “quite often”….Cillian has been mentioned over the last 5 years at least…but the press, and bookies, always like to throw up new names for the role.

He himself has stated that he thinks he’s too old to play Bond…and Cillian, quite clearly, is a “good actor” 🙂

There is no doubt about Murphy's great acting skills, but there's no doubt he's too old either.

  • LuciusNightmareLuciusNightmare Posts: 264MI6 Agent

Anyone seen Mary & George? I like the look of Nicholas Galitzine.

  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,330MI6 Agent

Cillian Murphy at the Oscars. Brilliant actor? Absloutely. Future James Bond? I don't see it.

Daniel Craig in a tux for comparison.
