They sound attractive, but £100 is too much for my liking.

I ordered Octopussy; I like the LALD score but I thought the existing expanded edition gave me enough of it.

Fingers crossed this means more are coming: they like anniversaries (they just about managed to announce these in their anniversary year!) so hopefully this means they might be able to release the aborted O.H.M.S.S., Moonraker and LTK this year as it’s their 55th, 45th and 35th anniversaries.

In one visit I ordered OP and LALD and bought DAD. Had TND from 2022. Tried to get TWINE several times without success and then saw it being scalped by a few sellers on eBay unfortunately.

Always have an escape plan. Mine is watching James Bond films.

I keep trying to place an order for Octopussy, however link continues to say "Temporarily Out of Stock". Seems like they have not completed any orders are are still waiting to receive the CDs for shipping.

  • emtiememtiem SurreyPosts: 5,999MI6 Agent

They are shipping: quite a few people have received theirs and mine is on its way to me, it's left customs and is in the country. I think they're waiting to fulfil all of the back orders they have before taking fresh orders, but I'm sure they will soon.

My wife is done with "All Time High", and yes I played it a bunch of times on my nice stereo system at high volume.

Good taste in Bond themes there. That one is my personal favourite.

"The tough man of the world. The Secret Agent. The man who was only a silhouette." - Ian Fleming, Moonraker (1955).

All Time High is underrated IMHO. I love it.

Or get them direct from La La Land, probably quicker and definitely cheaper.

Also on the 007 Store but they seem to cost more there; although still £10 cheaper than on Elite.

  • HarryCanyonHarryCanyon Posts: 390MI6 Agent

grabbed those. MOONRAKER is Barry's Bond masterpiece, in my humble opinion.

  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 38,104Chief of Staff

Well, I've ordered both (as if that's any surprise). MR and TMWTGG, after some help from emtiem on the best place to buy.

  • chrisno1chrisno1 LondonPosts: 3,637MI6 Agent

Yes, I saw this today. £39.00 seems a lot. Not sure I like the MR OST that much. Still... Christmas is coming.

I've pre-ordered both newly announced limited editions - TMWTGG and MR - and I look forward with excitement to listening to them; particularly, of course, the added cues.

I've recently decided to collect all these limited editions but, catching up, I've had to buy LALD, TWINE and DAD on ebay. I've bought GF, OP and TND from the OO7 Store.

Delighted with all of them so far. It's been especially great to hear the added cues for LALD and OP. (As for Arnold, I still think that his DAD score presents as an overproduced mess when isolated from the film itself; but his instrumental tracks based on his partially written/ unused theme for DAD remain highlights, as does the Jinx theme. The 'orchestra only' tracks are a boon too. Imho, the TND limited edition is stronger and more sumptious as an expanded Arnold offering.)

    ---

While I've been at it, I've also bought the London Philharmonic Orchestra's 'Bond 25' collection. A plush cover album. Worth it, for the considerably cheaper price. Something of a curiosity, full of hybridity. With the Barry themes, the approach taken seems to have been to merge elements from the title song arrangements with key instrumental arrangements of the same themes as found in the OST albums/films. Think 'Alpine Drive' but dressed up odd(job)ly with the 'wah-wah-wah-WAH' brass which prefaced Bassey's opening vocals for the GF title song; or 'Wine With Stacy' rather than Bucks Fizz with Duran Duran! For more recent themes, the Philharmonic sometimes brings in traces of Barry's style where it doesn't necessarily belong, such as touches of 'rat-a-tat-a-tat' during the swelling passages of NTTD. An interesting take, if not wholly convincing. (Sorry to have gone off topic.)

Critics and material I don't need. I haven't changed my act in 53 years.

yeah, I'm off to eBay for the ones I missed as well.

  • lotuslotus englandPosts: 301MI6 Agent

I've ordered both moonraker and the man with the golden gun expanded soundtracks.

I like moonraker but the unreleased material will vastly improve it.

But I've been waiting for tmwtgg since I was 11 when I first got the soundtrack, I'm now 61.

I'm really looking forwards to both these .

  • emtiememtiem SurreyPosts: 5,999MI6 Agent

I'd forgotten about that Philharmonic album, most of the old ones seem to be Barry's symphonic versions I think he made later, but to be honest I think it's the modern songs which come off best: Die Another Day is surprisingly good! The Craigs all fare pretty well I think, with the exception of You Know My Name, which drains the life out of it.

Is there a track listing for the Moonraker edition?

I believe the Barry arrangements are by Nic Raine, of which many are based on Barry's earlier instrumental arrangements as heard on "The Concert" album. I quite like them, and some are updated from previous recordings done by Barry or Raine.

The Moonraker release is a huge deal. The original soundtrack sounded awful and lacked some of the film's best music. The music doesn't sound particularly good in the film either. This new release not only has all the music as heard in the film in a fresh mix but also with more music that has previously been unreleased. There are six cues that were completely cut from the film that are on the new soundtrack. There are also a number of cues that were trimmed in the film, and the soundtrack presents the full cues as Barry imagined them. There are also two recordings of the Moonraker Theme with early lyrics written and sung by Paul Williams, which haven't before been released. The source music, which is some of the best in the series, can be heard in full. Moonraker is easily one of the best Bond scores, and it's finally getting a release that does it justice in a way its never been heard before.

I'm presuming the Mathis recording hasn't been okayed for release as it didn't work out.

  • Matt SMatt S Oh Cult Voodoo ShopPosts: 6,616MI6 Agent

If they had it, I'm sure they would have tried to get the rights to release it. If someone wants to ask Bulk about it, he may have an answer: https://the-sounding-bored.blogspot.com/2024/12/moonrakerat-last.html?lr=1733245468003

In any case, it will be a treat to hear Paul Williams sing it. The man has a way with words, both with a pen and with his voice.

I don't know if I want to ask him as it might sound ungrateful to be asking about something we haven't got when we've got all of this other lovely stuff he's worked so hard on!

It may be something like Mathis is an artist another label has in their roster.
