Not quite. I posted a link to an article about Ukraine assassinating colaborators, but then realized it fits better in the tread about special operations and espionage.

The Russian navy's salvage ship "Kommuna" has been reported as being damaged in an attack on Crimea. The ship was built in 1912, served in the czar's Navy, then served the Soviet Union from start to finish and now in the Russian navy. "Kommuna" is (was?) the oldest naval ship in active service in the world.

The war is a strange mix of the modern and a hundred years ago. I understand the British are considering giving the Ukranians lasers for shooting down drones.
By accounts, Putin really was surprised the US aid package got passed. This should...should...completely bankrupt Russia and/or completely erase their modern military.

I do rather fear what the future holds as regards a potential change of US administration. We got a flavour of that from the speeches in Congress of some Republican representatives. American isolationism at a time of crisis in Europe is nothing new of course but it is still something for those on the European continent to really fear. European states need to increase their defence spending and military training as a matter of some urgency. We never know when we'll be expected to have to go it alone as regards Russia and Ukraine and I don't think we're strong enough yet to be able to do that without American assistance. Sadly I'm not sure if we ever will be strong enough, either.

I'm not going to comment other than to say that talking about US party politics should be avoided in the forum because it easily leads to the closing of threads.

Don't listen to him! I'm the real N24 and I've been kept in the cellar for months, more than a year I think! My posts are closely watched by Barbel, but I think he's in the bathroom right now. You all know how I feel about US politics and how I like to post about it, but he won't let me! I'll tell you how I really feel about Ukraine and that basta ..
Hey. I don't know what happened there, but ignore the above post from N24 ..... I mean an unknown person who got access to my computer. I'm N24 and I'm definately not being kept in the cellar being fed twice a day and no Coke Zero at all. Everything is fine. 🙂

That's a relief. Not sure what happened there. Must've been some kind of forum glitch? 🤷

I'm sure it was. Nothing to worry about. Barbel is great at that stuff, he'll fix it.

Although it may appear at times that I'm a dozen different people depending on the time of day I can confirm than I am merely one person sitting at a typewriter waiting for inspiration to post. My doctor tells me it's nothing to worry about.

I'm guessing that you were hacked by Putin's minions as you were getting too close to the truth, @Number24?
Not quite. I posted a link to an article about Ukraine assassinating colaborators, but then realized it fits better in the tread about special operations and espionage.
You've been told to say that. I understand. 😉
Not at all. The special military operation is going great, so there's no need for hiding anything ...
Exactly. Everything will be fine.

Thanks for the excellent video. I'm a great fdan of Antony Beevor.

It's an amazing that a naval ship that age is still in active service. 😲

It is incredible. The ship was buildt in 1912, but not comissioned until 1915.
The US aid package is incredibly important.
It dates from the era of The Titanic. Crazy. Things were really built to last back in those days.

Except the Titanic.

That's far too optimistic, I think. But it's no doubt a big boost to Ukraine's fight for freedom.

That's fair enough. I will refrain from that in future.

So you're Koskov to Barbel's Whitaker?
Did Putin say that?
