As per an interview with director George Miller, Charlize Theron was quite disappointed that she wasn't brought back for Furiosa. According to Miller, the original intent was to bring Theron back however Miller is not a fan of the look of the digital de-aging process and it also would have added weeks to the post production of the film so a younger actor was cast. Hardy was not back as the Mad Max character barely makes an appearance in Furiosa. However, reportedly Hardy will be back as Max in Mad Max: The Waste Land which has a completed script and is just awaiting being greenlighted by Warner Bros. Fury Road by the way, was both a critical success and did very well at the box office.
With regard to the Spiderman films with Tom Holland, they have done well at the box office; the spinoffs, in particular Mobius and Madame Webb have not. The first Venom film with Tom Hardy was a critical and box office success, the 2nd did not fare as well but well enough that a third Venom film with Hardy is still in the works.
How this all relates to Bond casting? Hardy would be too old and is still involved with two other film franchises. On the other hand, the only film that ATJ is in that could lead to star power for him would be the oft delayed Kraven, which has not been released yet so the jury is still out on that one while the Nosferatu remake is still more of an arthouse type film. If Kraven is a not a hit, ATJ will continue just be an excellent in demand working actor who straddles between being a character actor and sometime leading man but not a huge star unless the Bond rumors become a reality.
I just watched HE WENT THAT WAY, terrific performance from Jacob Elordi. Not only doe she look like a movie star, but he was seriously great. Highly recommend and it's only 90 minutes.
It's really a tossup between MAD MAX2/THE ROAD WARRIOR and MAD MAX: FURY ROAD as to which one is 'the best' in my opinion. FURY ROAD is an overall a better film when you factor in direction, acting, narrative, and overall polish, but the real metal crunchiness of THE ROAD WARRIOR (no CGI, just real Aussies doing insane stunts) is just awe inspiring.

Since COVID, box office numbers are down in general and many are now conditioned to wait for VOD
From a marketing prospective, you have a Mad Max movie with no Mad Max
While the casting of Anya Taylor-Joy made sense given the passage of time since Fury Road, and while she is excellent in the film, she does not have the box office cache of Charlize Theron
George Miller et al also might have made another miscalculation doing a prequel to begin with
I don't know what to think about him physically. He looks very young and I don't portray Bond as a pretty face, which is what I feel when I look at him.
Honestly, the more that time passes, the more I really wonder if they're done on the big screen. Big budget tentpole movies are struggling in the current marketplace while long form streaming television is at a critical and commercial high point. Maybe it makes sense to move to Amazon Prime.
ATJ is very much a chameleon as an actor. He has played many character roles and his appearance has been completely different depending on hair and facial hair. I would say he is more "classically" handsome than a Daniel Craig but still more in the ruggedly handsome range than pretty boy (although his fashion adverts could lean one to thinking that way). I have seen ATJ in military roles and he is quite convincing. From a strictly physical standpoint, I think ATJ fits the current Bond aesthetic; he's 33 and appears to be a legit 5'11" and around 175-180 lbs. and has the requisite ripped physique (think Christian Bale as Batman size and physique wise). Actually I see a lot of similarities between ATJ and Bale. Both were child actors, both throw themselves into roles both mentally and physically with more the approach of a character actor than a "movie star". Unlike Bale, ATJ does not have the reputation of being "difficult" or "temperamental". I would be more than ok with them casting ATJ as Bond but it's still the biggest mystery right now.
With regards to the failure of Furiosa in theaters effecting whether Bond continues in the cinema or finds its next life as an Amazon Prime series, I think EON is still very much wed to the idea that Bond is and always will be a theatrical release first and foremost. Whether that continues, who knows? I would think that (insane production costs not withstanding) if Bond 26 were to fail at the box office, they can always recast and reboot and try to get it right the next time. With an Amazon Prime series they better get the casting literally perfect and do everything right (that means no overuse of CGI (well tacky CGI) to save $$$, no posh TV movie looks, etc) or they could be cooked forever with no going back.
I'm sold on ATJ, though it's mildly niggling that it seems impossible to find a pic of him with a typical Bondian hairstyle! Trim the hair, lower the voice and as Tanner would say, "Get cracking, 007!"

The top pic is better, but give it a bit more length and shape. Haven't seen the perfect haircut on him yet, but hey, what doesn't work for me works for others. Maybe ATJ is saving the Bond 'do for *when* he gets the role! 👍

I actually think this length isn't too far off the mark. Not much longer than Pierce's in Goldeneye and looks more sophisticated than a close crop and shaved sides. Depends what look they'll want for him (if!) he gets the nod.

Aaron Taylor Johnson will be too busy playing Archie Reid in a rival franchise for another two films that are somewhat rivals to EON over the next few years. He won’t be Bond. He’ll be Lancelot. And that contract has been signed since 2019.
Funny thing about contracts. They can be cancelled or bought out.
Besides, I kinda question if we're going to get any more KINGSMAN films. The last one, THE KING'S MAN, didn't exactly light up the box office. I'll grant that it was a victim of COVID but still, it wasn't very well received.
Supposedly a third KINGSMEN film and a second KINGS MAN film are in various stages of development but...yeah, I'm guessing that they won't happen, especially after the flopping of ARGYLLE. Vaughn's probably going to spend some time in director's jail and will need to do some lower budget work to get himself out of the hole he's put himself into.
He’ll also be contracted to make Kraven sequels; even though those have a similar likelihood of happening as a King’s Man sequel, I doubt Eon would be risking hiring him until the response to the film is confirmed

The next two Kings Man and the third Kingsman films have been green lit. Vaughn specifically cast and contracted ATJ to carry on for the next two instalments and he has stated that he also contracted Stanley Tucci similarly too. He had made the mistake before of not doing that after setting up characters in previous films only to have those actors become unavailable or move on, which ruined his plans and continuity quite considerably. The Kings Man 2 or Traitor King has been written for a long time now and is further in development than Kingsman 3 as Taron has been constantly unavailable and it won’t start filming until next year. But all three films are going ahead as well as another two and maybe three KM related projects. Argylle hasn’t hurt the interest in the KM franchise from a production point of view anyway as it was always considered a vanity project of Claudia’s. And we may still get an Argylle 2 amazingly, which will concentrate on the real Argylle character we see at the end. But that’s a whole new can of worms we don’t want to get into here
EON still haven’t moved on much with production on 26. Whilst I was told it would be at least 2027 by several people. It may even be longer than that now. There’s no interest there at the moment and they are waiting for ‘calmer waters’. It certainly gives ATJ time to do both if that is the case. But I really can’t see it happening with him.

Depressing is an understatement. But the entire film world is going through a massive drought at the moment with no real light at the end of the tunnel. Theres not a single film I’m looking forward to seeing - except possibly Mission Impossible. And even that underperformed massively last year.

We gave Fury Road a go last night; I haven't seen it since the cinema. It remains absolutely superb, enjoyed it immensely.
