Newbee Advice Sought Please

Pacman52Pacman52 Posts: 4MI6 Agent

Hi all I've just come across this site and would like some advice please on how and where to sell some of my 007 stuff.

Before I retired I used to work in the Film industry and have worked on all of the James Bond films from Goldeneye up to and including Skyfall. As part of the crew we used to get a Cast and Crew gift at the end of each Film and it is some of those gifts I would like to sell as they are really of no use to me and just taken up space.

Could someone be so kind as to advise me on the best way to sell this stuff, how I would actually value it (or get it valued) and things or places to avoid. I do use Ebay a lot so I know that's an option but I'd only sell stuff on there as a last resort really plus they make it so confusing to actually list things now.

Anyway as said I'd really be grateful if someone would reply.

Many thanks

Paul

p.s. I'm in the UK if that makes a difference !

    Hi Paul

I had a similar dilemma and ended up using EBay. Mainly because the Auction houses fees are just sky high. EBay offer adhoc sellers fees reduction so quite good value. However, if really special like film seen props then the occasional specialist sales will probably suit.

Film crew stuff often comes up on EBay. Obviously if you list, let this forum know and word tends to spread fast. I’ll be bidding on Goldeneye.

Welcome by the way. If you need help listing, happy to help.

    Cheers

    Andy

Hi Andy firstly thank you so much for taken the time to reply. I know what you mean about the fees auction house's charge and whilst I accept they got to make a living I've also got to go on another holiday 😂.

I have looked at Ebay on the Bond stuff so am aware people do use it for this so guess its 'better the devil you know sort of thing'. Its early stages on what I've got and what I will actually sell but the reality is probably all of it.

Sadly I don't think I've got any actual on screen props unless of course that includes me as I had my 15 minutes of fame appearing in the Quantum of Solace opening sequences - I could always try selling some autographed photos of myself lol.

Great tip on posting listings on here and I'll certainly do that once I've sorted the stuff out. Would you have any advice on how or where to get an idea on value of stuff or would it be just to spend some time googling things ?

    Thanks again

    Paul

Just post up what you have on here. There are loads of high end collectors of the props costumes and other items who post here.

Not quite sure why you'd be star struck to be honest but anyway I do remember having some photos of the scenes I was in that included Daniel, Dame Judi and Jesper Christensen (Mr White). I'm pretty sure the photos were taken by Keith Hampshire who did a lot of the Bond films ...now as to where those photos are is anyone's guess sorry !

Thanks for the tip I've only just taken some photos of some of the stuff I have so once I've uploaded them to my computer I'll post them up on the thread.

Paul knows I'm always happy to help, and I have two additional ways to assist other AJB'ers.

First, I run the BONDLIST, a semimonthly eZine featuring insider news from Bond actors, authors, and filmmakers. We also alert thousands of fans about sale and trade items. Items valued at $5,000, even $25,000 U.S., have sold within a day through my email blasts.

Second, I've helped actor and collector friends place their items in nearly a dozen of the most popular auction houses. I can help people bypass queues and connect directly with heads of consignment. Additionally, when friends have public auction items, I inform the thousands of subscribers on BONDLIST to boost sales.

Asp is right—posting items here at AJB often leads to immediate responses from top collectors. However, I'm always happy to help AJB'ers with their items as well. Please count on me.
