Hi Bondians, this is my first post. I like Fun, Camp and the John Glen Movies most.

Here are my wishes for Bond 26:

Title: Risico or maybe Everything or Nothing.

Director: Taika Watiti or Matthew Vaughn

    Bond: Robbie Williams

Titelsong: Lana Del Rey or Adele

    Have a great Day!

Seeing DC in this promotion for Loewe?

    https://www.loewe.com/eur/en/stories-collection/fw24-collection-campaign.html?sender_campaign=dPE1rn&sender_ctype=email&sender_customer=pQDpnjQ&utm_campaign=Meeting+Denise+Richards+at+Showmasters&utm_medium=email&utm_source=newsletter

Have they done anything CG/AI or whatever to make him look younger..? He looks great and could easily do another Bond on this evidence.

Would solve a lot of problems, many Bond fans and average cinema goers would be happy with him coming back and it could be a way out of the corner they've painted themselves into with Bond's demise in NTTD. Personally I would love for him to return for one last romp of a Bond film and go out on a high rather than the low he left us with. Every man has his price... Just pay the man whatever he wants BB and make it happen!

(P.S. I do know this will never happen...)

Did you notice how NTTD ended and why do you think Craig insisted on that ending?

Yep (see my P.S.) I don't think this will happen at all.

But anything can happen in the world of make believe, and every man has his price...

Anyway, it was just a general observation of how good he still looks (in that promo, anyway) and that he could still be Bond.

    Yes, he still looks good.

Some interesting ideas there, but wouldn't it look strange when two of the actors/characters where at James Bond's wake?

@Number 24, it could be different Versions of those Characters played by those same Actors.

Roger Moore had different Ms, okay M did not die. I would not mind though.

  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,439MI6 Agent

Could be, but what would be the point? It would just ad confusion.

  • BondClothingBondClothing Posts: 383MI6 Agent

I agree, they might not have brought back Judi Dench as M if Pierce's James bond died at the end of, err, Die Another Day. I say this because I think a lot of the general audience probably just think she's the same M in Casino Royale and that Craig is apart of the same loose continuity which stretched from Connery to Brosnan.

Absolutely. The Craig Scooby gang did a great job, but bringing them back now would be a big mistake.

It can be solved in many ways, but here are some of my favourites:

    • I'm very much on the fence about M. Maybe Idris Elba or Hugh Laurie?
    • M runs MI6, but Moneypenny runs the 00-section. I'd like to see Rose Leslie (Ygritte in GoT) as Moneypenny. Or they could go a bit older and cast Kate Winslet.

    • I think Toby Jones would be a great Q. If they want to go in a different direction Q can be played by a British-Indian or Arab-British actor.

    • Brosnan had no Felix Leiter and Craig had a black Leiter. Let's go back to Fleming had have Leiter as a blonde ex-marine from Texas!

Kate Winslet and Toby Jones are both good calls, N24 👍🏻

Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.

I had trouble finding a more relevant thread for this post, but here we go. If Bond is to get a new pistol, maybe the Laugo Alien is the answer? It's unusually accurate (and unusually expensive) because of a special operating mechanism. It's an expert's gun. The Laugo Alien is so acvurate only the best shots can exploit its full potential, such ad top competitive shooters. Sending the message that Bond is one of the few who needs this kind of gun shows how elite he is. It's also distinctive looking pistol, and I feel that's important for Bond's gun. I feel pistols like sedan cars look mostly alike these days. I also think the Alien is elegant. The gun is probably too large for concealed carry, so maybe the solution is having 007 use the Alien as a combat gun. You know, like Brosnan usually carried the PKK, but when combat was likely he used the P99.

Only the sides of the slide moves. The barrel doesn't move at all, making the Alien extremely accurate.

When one cocks a normal pistol the whole slide moves back and the barrel also moves.

Ugly looking thing. Quite distinctive though.

In Norwegian we have the word "styggpen" , meaning "uglypretty". I can't think of a better word for it in English.

I'm not interested in guns so forgive me, but when you say the barrel moves when one cocks a gun, how does it move? I thought it stayed still whilst the slide moves back around it.

Let's first make it clear that I'm under no delusion that I'm a gun expert. But as I understand it, most pistols tilt or rotate when a new round is fed into the chamber.

Most automatics with a larger calibre have to absorb heavier recoil, so as the slide moves back against a spring, the barrel also moves slightly back and down to disengage from locking into the slide. As the barrel is then tilted back against the magazine, this aids the next round being fed into the chamber. As the slide returns forward, it engages the barrel and locks it into place again, as well as locking the chambered round into a better seated position ready to be fired. This is an oversimplified explanation, but that’s about it. In smaller calibres, this isn’t needed so the barrel can be fixed, like the PPK. But anything over 9mmP, the floating barrel is the most common method. There are fixed barrelled larger calibre guns, but these usually have to rely on different recoil absorbing methods, like the gas blowback HK P7 series. But this has its drawbacks as porting the gas into a chamber creates retained heat and it’s very dirty as the burned powder is channeled back into the mechanism.

This is certainly a unique firearm, but I’m not sure I see Bond carrying one. It’s a full-sized pistol, which doesn’t really suit Bond’s character. Also, it’s sinfully ugly. Bond should drive beautiful cars, where beautiful clothing, and carry beautiful weapons. That’s why the PPK has endured in Bond’s holster, despite the prevalence of arguably better modern options. For my money, if Bond doesn’t carry a Walther, then he should carry a Beretta.

  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,439MI6 Agent

I don't see the Alien as Bond's carry sidearm. As I mentioned it could have the same role as the P99 in the Brosnan movies.

  • emtiememtiem SurreyPosts: 5,999MI6 Agent

I quite liked it in CR where he used both (didn’t he?). A bit like how they worked out it would be possible for him to own more than one watch 😄

Yeah, he used the PPK in the toilet fight with Fisher. TND being the only other film where he uses both PPK and P99.

Always have an escape plan. Mine is watching James Bond films.

Of the two major decisions EON should make soon are director and scriptwriters. My favourites today are Edgard Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Baby driver) or Gareth Evans (Raid & Raid 2, Rouge One).

Both are screenwriters too. I'd also like to see Anthony Horowitz and Phoebe Waller-Bridge write the script. Horowitz knows Bond very well, and also mystery and structure. PWB knows British humor, action and snappy dialogue. Both do characters well.

Do you agree or disagree? Do you have other names on your notebook?
