No director has been picked to make Bond26 yet, so I doubt this is correct. The director has always been part of casting new James Bond actors. Having said that - welcome to AJB! ☺️

His name is now appearing again, now second favourite. The source is genuine

One does not reveal their sources, SeanIsTheOnlyOne.

In my humble opinion the person cast to play the next James Bond should be no older than five. That way he'll be just the right age when filming starts.

And how strong, reliable and likely do YOU think this track is? If you had to bet your house on that, would you?

We have someone here who I trust 100%, the next Bond film is years away…it would seem silly to announce a new actor this early…especially as the producers are busy on other projects at the moment.

How close is your source to BB or MGW?

Idris Elba, who's in his 50s, is still on the betting lists! 🤣

If you dig deep enough, it could be argued that everyone could be put on the list.

I'm not sure what odds the bookies would give me though?!

Your odds are probably slightly better than Paul Mescal 🤭

The OP has gone quiet…perhaps they have no ‘source’ and merely posted here for their own entertainment..? I hope they come back and respond 🙂

I'm too old and out of touch with current trends to know who most of the names mentioned are. I had to google Paul Mescal and you're probably right. IMO, and no offence meant to the actor, a most unlikely choice for the role.

It would be interesting if the thread starter came back with definitive proof of his claims.

I would love to but do worry about getting myself in trouble by revealing too much! Not sure what the rules are on this type of thing. I was told by someone who works closely to the production of the next film. Whilst the film might be a few years away, many brands have already created the products. These brands are told who will be representing their products… that’s all I can say without getting anyone in trouble (I think)

    @fulhambond there's something I don't understand.

What does the knowledge of the identity of the new Bond bring to the brands? It's something typically generic. For example, Brosnan and Craig didn't have many things in common, but they both did commercials for some brands during their tenure. And if another actor had been chosen back then, it would have been exactly the same. The real and only brand is Bond, not the actor. So what does it really change whether Bond is played by Mescal (who's so far from the way I portray Fleming's character that I just can't believe Broccoli would be that much blind), Taylor-Johnson or any other candidate?

Do you see my point ?

There is NO production on the next film though…they are all busy on other projects…Bond has been mothballed…and no one is going to create products for a film that’s years away, with no script and no director- that is more than a little silly…I’m more than confident your ‘source’ is having a laugh at your expense…when is this announcement going to take place, have you been given a month?

Sir Miles. You are unfortunately wrong. You do realise it can take years to create some of the products associated with the bond films? Lawrence Stroll confirmed last month that they are already creating the next car for bond 26 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_t-EjyQGVAw - you might have missed this. Products have already been made for Bond 26. Some of these brands are paying millions to have their products represented. They therefore demand to know who will be publicising their brand. James Bond is a business... and of course Amazon are only going to want to increase revenue. I was told who the new Bond is and I believe that individual - whether you chose to believe me I couldn't care less - i just thought that other bond fans would like to know after months/years of silence and the abysmal ending of NTTD.

I think you fail to understand that Sir Miles and a few others may know more than you. They’ve been in the fandom for a few decades and know quite a few people associated with the franchise and the top people in that franchise. Unfortunately people working for brands involved with the franchise are utterly full of it and speculate based on a few incomplete points they think they know. Brands most certainly wouldn’t know about the casting before directors and EON employees, so take your source news with a large handful of salt.

There is absolutely no point creating a ’Bond product’ for a film that’s years away from actual production…why would you spend millions to feature your product only for the actual screenplay to have no need of it 🤷🏻‍♂️ granted you can always squeeze an Aston Martin in but NTTD hardly used it…in fact the best vehicle in that film was a Toyota 😁 you are almost saying that AM have a say in who gets the Bond gig…🤔 and they are constantly working on their next cars, regardless of Bond.

As Asp9mm says - any brand would want to position themselves alongside Bond, it’s free publicity for them if nothing else…

I’m prepared to bite though…you say “products have already been made for Bond26” …what products are those?

I appreciate you wanting to share what you’ve heard…I hope you stick around…if only to tell me “I told you so.” ☺️

I did ask when this ‘news’ will be made public…your source MUST know a date…but I hope you name them when you find out they’ve made a fool of you 🤗

Thank you Sir Miles. I would love to tell you the brand who the person works for, but they are very senior and I would hate for them to get fired for leaking the news to me! He/she said they have just finished making the product. They also said after gladiator comes out, there will be an announcement. I presume they wouldn’t want to interfere with another film etc

I think Mescal could be in the running if he wants to be, but agree with others above that there won’t be a Bond cast before there’s a director attached.

There actually is a Bond brand product being released in the coming weeks that I heard being referenced as the new Bond item. But although the product was there and the head bods were talking about it, they might have been talking about another model even further into the future. I couldn’t get all the conversation as people next to me were talking too loudly.

It will be interesting to see if the NTTD model will be discontinued at the same time as they said they’d continue that production until the next movie/movie watch is released.

    Thanks for update @Asp9mm

Eagerly awaiting the new Seamaster. It's pretty much perfection.

Guessing it will be priced around the £8K mark?

What I think is interesting is that if you look at NTTD as an example, many brands get the Bond association but I think only Omega and Heineken actually had Craig himself (and even then Omega has a separate deal in place with Craig outside of Bond anyway I think). If you look at the DHL ad for example, the best they got was the DB5! Off the top of my head for the previous films I can only think of him doing Sony ads other than those two, so I guess they're the big spenders and/or Craig's deal stipulated there would be a limit on the amount of ads he did.

So Bond#7 might have a worse deal where he'll have to do more ads, but other than that situation or the brands being those two, I tend to agree with SeanIsTheOnlyOne that it won't actually matter to most brands who the actor is, the hero is 007. But I guess that doesn't necessarily mean that they won't know who it is anyway. I just don't buy that anyone has been chosen at this point though.

Mescal is an ambassador for Cartier, so not sure how that would have to be sorted out.

I just want to say to fulhambond that even though he has been met with a lot of resistance in this thread, we want him to feel welcome. If no-one sticks their necks out and says something controversial from time to time this will be a very boring forum.
