We have seen no signs of a diector being picked or screentests being held or a script being even close to finished. It would be great if a Bond movie started shooting this winter, but I think it's very unlikely.

My initial point was mainly about ATJ being the only one deliberately playing with the rumour while he clearly has the opportunity to debunk it, offering him the opportunity to get rid of this topic once and for all.

Why would he debunk it. It’s free publicity and keeps him in the public eye.
He said in a recent interview: "Aren't you sick of asking the question?"
One cannot have his cake and eat it. If you want to play, just accept being harrassed with such a question. It's part of the game. You can't blame a journalist for doing his job. The only way of getting rid of this issue is saying there's nothing and he'd appreciate the topic not to be mentioned again.

That doesn’t mean anything without context. He may be fed up of hearing it, and that one off quote doesn’t prove that. And if he did mean it that doesn’t mean he’s not loving the extra publicity. It’s an actors dream. His agent will be over the moon. To kill off the rumours now wouldn’t be very smart. Being an actor, they thrive on publicity and relevance. Without it. They fade away. It’s a win win situation for him. A lot of people had no idea who he was until these rumours started.

My initial point was to find a possible link with the schedule. I was playing a little bit with rumours, probably because of my current mood.
The thing is it's been three years since the release of NTTD and I recently realized With A Mind To Kill remains my last genuine enjoyment. The novel was published in 2022 and I deeply thank Anthony Horowitz for such a masterpiece, not forgetting the 60th anniversary.
I think I'm starting to be in need for something, even rumours. I guess I'm making my own storytelling just to keep my mind active, although I'm aware I've no possibility to check things myself. I'd say ATJ's behaviour and the Amazon/Sony deal rumour are enough to have me focused on something. The only thing I hope is an official announcement before December 2025 (title, director and release date).
Haha!! The guy seems to have an established sentence he drops every time a journalist asks him about Bond. Just keep it simple Aaron. Kraven sounds like a B-movie and you won't sell it better with such a move.
It's fine isn't it? I don't see the problem, let them ask, it promotes the movie, and his answer was fine.
But he can't answer it any more than that, or talk about whether he'd like to be Bond or whatever at length because that's kind of disrespectful to the film he's promoting and also to Eon: it's a bit naff to use their product to advertise yours and get column inches out of it, and he probably doesn't want to annoy them because he likely does think he's in with a shot. I don't think there's anything deeper there.
Early word on Kraven is as bad as expected, and the box office expectations have been lowered accordingly.
Why's that better? Here they/he knows it's the one answer to a question which might get clipped out and shown on a 5 second entertainment news show because folks are more interested in Bond than Kraven, so he's mentioning the movie he's promoting to make sure it gets airtime.
And it sounds like it needs all the promoting it can get. They're opening it on 25% fewer screens than the last Venom film.
Well, I'd say it's just the kind of thinking I'm not used to. I'm not interested in anything related to marketing, and Kraven seems to be a forgettable product, like almost every movie of this kind. Honestly, if ATJ really thought it would work while the film doesn't seem to have anything appealing, then we can have doubts about the way he chooses the projects he's involved in. Although I'm not particularly convinced by the idea of having Mescal as Bond, at least I find his work more intriguing.
Sometimes actors just take the big pay day. On the other hand when it comes to Bond, I would have to believe there are those who might worry they don't want to end up being the crappy Bond who killed the series (and also their own career).

With poor ticket sales, Kraven has been compared to Madame Web but that has a 55% audience rating so will Kraven fall when more audience reviews come in? Kraven has also been compared to Morbius and that has a 71% audience rating. I'm surprised it's that high, I saw Mobius and it is a very flawed film.
There is certainly a history of some "critics" doing their best to try to kill a film before it's even released. Films that need reshoots and have any sort of release delays or postponements or gone overbudget tend to be targets. With the great proliferation of the internet and social media there are a great number of self anointed influencers and critics who have no problem passing judgement on a film that they have not actually seen. Personally, I always took issue with film critics who generally just watch theatrical releases via video home screeners rather than see them in a proper theater. There was one critic some years ago in my area who used to brag about having watched a big action epic on thier "13 inch set in the kitchen" for their review. They thought they were being so clever and edgy. I thought they were being lazy and unprofessional and using it as a virtue.
You're saying critics are 'ideological' for not rating it higher, but it's got a lower audience rating than a movie you yourself are saying is not very good. Some audiences, particularly superhero ones, will eat up any old crap: I think that's a more likely explanation than any fundamental problem with reviewers. And this sounds like rubbish.
I don't know why but I really have the feeling there's something with ATJ that could match. He may not be the finest actor (my first choice has been Aidan Turner for years, he reminds me of Dalton, but I'm afraid he's too old), but I think he's the kind of guy who can improve as Bond, getting more and more confidence, especially working with good directors.
Another good point, he looks incredibly elegant in a suit (I really like his coolness in Bullet Train), which is not for everyone to quote Mr White.
I think Brosnan didn't appear particularly charismatic before Bond. And at the end of the day, he was a solid Bond for me. Not the best but definitely the one the audience needed back then. And despite everything one can say about the quality of DAD, I find him absolutely great in this, especially the first half in which he totally nails the part.

Maybe this will be a film with a low critic score but a much higher, tomato fresh, audience score?

I think Brosnan was pretty charismatic in most things: even Remington Steel he's pretty much all charm.
Looking at various comments on the web, it seems the mainstream audience is much more positive about ATJ than the Bond fans community.
