We don’t mind a bit of nitpicking, Sir Miles 😂

THE BEATLES IN COMICS Part Four THE MAN WHO REFUSED TO SIGN THE BEATLES and GEORGE MARTIN’S WAGER

    More next weekend…

Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.
  • Sir MilesSir Miles The Wrong Side Of The WardrobePosts: 27,917Chief of Staff

Nice…obviously none of the Beatles would say “asses” - not when John had far more robust language to use 🤣

George Martin didn’t ever ask/tell/instruct anyone to replace Pete Best on drums…it’s true he didn’t rate him, but he always said it wasn’t his place to dictate who was in the band…but he did bring in a session drummer - Andy White - to record Love Me Do. George had no idea Pete had been replaced by Ringo Starr - who was upset that he wasn’t allowed to drum on the single. Two versions of Love Me Do were recorded…one has tambourine on it and one doesn’t. If you hear the tambourine version then that’s Ringo playing tambourine…if you don’t, then Ringo is on drums.

Enjoying this all the same 😁

    VICTOR DRAGO Part 4

I’m away for Christmas/NY so the next Victor Drago instalment will be Monday 6th January.

Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.
  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 38,068Chief of Staff

Thanks, CHB, and have a good time.

  • CoolHandBondCoolHandBond Mactan IslandPosts: 7,372MI6 Agent

    Thank you, Barbel.

The American comics feature on Tuesdays and Wednesdays will return on 7th January with a bunch of Batman material for several weeks.

To fill in this week, as it’s Christmas, is a couple of days of British comic materials featuring Christmas issues. Today some Christmas issue covers…

    Tomorrow some Christmas comic strips…

Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.

I used to get The Christmas Beano & Dandy annuals as a kid…loved them…😀

I don't remember "Boys' World" and only vaguely recall "Look And Learn" but the rest bring back happy memories. Listen to me, typical old man stuff - next I'll be pointing at houses and telling the family "that was just fields when I was a kid".

British comic strips with a Christmas theme today - A new feature, The Batman Family, begins on 7th January with Golden, Silver and Bronze Age strips featuring characters from the Batman universe.

It was unusual for a comic Annual to feature on the covers, but this was the case in the Smash! Annual from 1968…

These strips are taken from Christmas editions of various comics…

THE DEPARTMENT OF TRUTH - Chapter Twelve - The Man With A Movie Camera - Part Two

The Department Of Truth returns on 2nd January, and to answer a PM, yes, the JFK assassination is covered in future instalments, and in great detail I may add.

The Beatles are coming up Saturday and Sunday.

Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.
  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 38,068Chief of Staff

    Wow, just wow. Again.

THE BEATLES IN COMICS Part Five THE QUEEN’S REBELS and THE BEGINNING OF BEATLEMANIA

    Part Six tomorrow…

Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.
  • Sir MilesSir Miles The Wrong Side Of The WardrobePosts: 27,917Chief of Staff

Apart from looking nothing like Brian Epstein…he would have been relieved that John only said that, as John had threatened to add an expletive in that address 👀

Never heard of All I’m Losing 🤷🏻‍♂️ unless they mean All My Loving ? Which went to No.1 in Canada, but not Gold…as Canada didn’t have that rating…🤔

  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 38,068Chief of Staff

Is this a different artist from earlier? And like Sir M I laughed at "All I'm Losing". The cover for "Live At The BBC Vol 2" which was only released about 10 years ago seems to have snuck in to a 60s montage.

We're both just nitpicking, CHB, and happy to read the above.

  • CoolHandBondCoolHandBond Mactan IslandPosts: 7,372MI6 Agent

I love the nitpicking, it’s most welcome, please continue guys 🍸

There’s a different artist for every chapter, I believe.

Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.
  • Sir MilesSir Miles The Wrong Side Of The WardrobePosts: 27,917Chief of Staff

There is a different artist for each chapter, which can be fresh but also confusing…still a fun read though 😁

Only one more thing to say…
