Totally agree with you. There is something very classy about women from that era. Here's a list of beautiful women I'm sure you will appreciate - I know I do when I watch those 'old' but classic films. {[]
Veronica Lake was gorgeous. Tiny in stature, too, which is one reason why she was paired with Alan Ladd in movies so often. Her career declined, I always got the impression because she was too intelligent for a Hollywood that didn't always like smart women. Alcohol also played a part, sadly.
I especially like her in I Married a Witch (1942).
Great photo Thunderpussy . I was surprised at how many of the actors and actresses had surgery to give them that classic look , don't know if it applies to Miss O'Hara suspect she was born classy , apparently she was a gifted athlete back in her youth in Ireland.
Classic film , just remembered my son pinched my DVD of The Quiet Man a couple years ago and never gave it me back he can class it as his heir loom now .
My favorite western is still Mclintock!. Maureen O'Hara and John Wayne are so great together....
She was also great in The Long Gray Line with Tyrone Power.
But, for stunning it's hard to top Ingrid Bergman....

Yes, interesting stuff there, TP.

I think it was Jimmy Stewart who said in an interview that crew members on "Rear Window" came in early or even their day off. They just sat down and looked at Grace Kelly.....
Good idea, but perhaps it should be "Maureen Stuff"?

On this page are my two most favorite blondes ever, Catherine Deneuve and Grace Kelly! Per the thread title, my favorite Maureen O'Hara movie was "The Battle of the Villa Fiorita" in which she co-starred with Rossano Brazzi.

Great thread! I was always partial to the beautiful Simone Simon, from Cat People and Curse of the Cat People, two of Val Lewton's greatest films:
My favourite movie podcast, The Secret History of Hollywood, has been covering the career of Val Lewton in recent episodes. The one on Cat People is just amazing! You can catch it here: https://www.attaboyclarence.com/
At the beginning of World War II, Lamarr and composer George Antheil developed a radio guidance system for Allied torpedoes, which used spread spectrum and frequency hopping technology to defeat the threat of jamming by the Axis powers. Although the US Navy did not adopt the technology until the 1960s, the principles of their work are arguably incorporated into Bluetooth technology, and are similar to methods used in legacy versions of CDMA and Wi-Fi. This work led to their induction into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2014.

Bond: “I must be dreaming.”
How have I not found this thread? Clearly, (see left) I have a deep love of Jean Harlow. She was incredibly smart, funny and talented. She hated being a sex symbol and when invited (forced to go) to an event once was told to really vamp it up. She showed up in camping gear and set up a campsite in the middle of the party. She also had several star sapphire worth more than my life.
I also have a thing for Carole Lombard who hated Harlow due to her (Harlow) dating her former husband. Lombard went on to marry Jean's best friend Clark Gable. The two ladies have fighting star sapphire. They often threw out the weight to show who literally had the/ was the bigger star.
