1)Best big scale battles, i.e. an army of good guys vs. an army of bad guys:
Top 3:
All the ones directed by Lewis Gilbert-
The ninja/Volcano battle in You Only Live Twice
The Liparus battle in The Spy Who Loved Me
The battle at Drax's space station in Moonraker
Honorable mention:
The underwater frogmen battle in Thunderball
The attack on Piz Gloria in OHMSS.
Weakest final big scale battle:
The final battle at St. Cyril's atop the Meteora in For Your Eyes Only.
I agree with those choices. My 3 favourite bond films are the ones with big battles at the end (MR, TSWLM, YOLT). I think GF, DAF and TLD should also get honurable mentions as well. OP also had a pretty good big battle at the end. I didn't enjoy TB that much, but did like the final battle. And i was disappointed with For Your Eyes that it had been building up towards a big battle at the end, but ended up with Bond's allies capturing everyone in their sleep. I was hoping for a big shoot out. But then most of my favourite bonds are the ones with the most action in.
The big battle in TSWLM is easily the best and one of the most entertaining scenes in any Bond film. I like the big gunfight and grenade usage. The underwater in TB is a close second.
As for a one-on-one fight, the fight between Bond and the African at the beginning of CR was very exciting, and I also like the bobsled fight on OHMSS.
