    "The Property of a Lady"

A genuine and as yet unused Fleming title that would look terrific on a movie poster as the following link will show:

    http://007art.free.fr/mygalleries/novels/property1.htm

Also, that title holds a special sentimental value for me since the auctioner mentioned it whilst I was at Sothebys with my alluring assistant-cum-mistress Magda.

The trick to making Bond Titles is that they have to not make sense and must sometime be used in the Novel.
The Usual ways of making a Title:

Its said somewhere in the novel
Its the name of a villain
    The name of a location
    The name of a thing
    Relate to the movie

In most Bond movies you will see that the title is said somewhere in the Movie. I couldn't find it in TSWLM but its in the rest. It must somehow relate to the movie maybe.
    Such as "Tomorrow Never Dies".
It was called that because Elliot Carvers newspaper "Tomorrow" told lies and the lies never died, until Bond came.

    I have some names:

    Red Avistas:

(The villains name, "Andrew Avistas", steals a blueprint of a chemical. He takes the ingridents from that chemical and makes his own which can destroy the race of humans. The chemical is called Red Avistas.

    One Way, Or Another:
No I did not get this off a song if thats what your thinking. A plot of a man "Frank Toransue", captures a lady that is a Doctor in Nuclear Studies. He makes her try to hack in every one of the Armies defences and power down and control their nuclear bombs. He plots on destroying one major city every week if his demands are not met. He wants to own the econamy of Gold Bullion everywhere in the world. But even if the world does pay up, he will still exterminate every capital Army Barracks in the world. The title comes into it when Bond and Frank are on the phone, Bond says "Do you excpect the world to pay?". Frank replies, "Yes, but one way or another, im still going to destroy them."

    Hell and Back:
Mysterious Murders have been happening in Mexico. Nobody can solve the clues, nobody can figure out why they are happening. But Bond comes from England, to uncover the mystery. Instead of an action, talk, action, talk. This novel will be a little change to James Bond history in a horror novel.
At the end everyone relises that it is the Voodoo Baron "Baron Samedi" that will never die, or will he?
The title comes into it when Bond and Baron meet for the finale fight at Samedis underground graveyard. Bond says" This time you will die for the thirtenth and final time." "Thirteen is an unlucky number, Mr.Bond." "It is for you!" "No, you dont understand. I've been to Hell and Back and it will not make no difference if I die again!"

Three of my titles. Dont know if they are any good though.

They should use one of those old unused novels or a Raymond Benson one.

Example- Colonal Sun, The Man with The Red Tattoo

Everything or Nothing - great title and can't wait for them to use it.

    In the line of duty
    What I do for England
    For Queen and Country
    Not time to quit
Living's in the way you die

what do you think. They're not all that bad, are they?

Quantam Of Solace? Some of the chapter titles from the Fleming novels could also be used.

Would it now be possible for EON to remake Casino Royale as a serious Bond film? If so, I recommend that they go that route. They need to take on more of the un-realized original Fleming properties.

Speaking of properties...I also like Property of a Lady.

Will they ever go back to the old Fleming stuff? It'd seem a waste for them to go through all the trouble of getting back the rights to Casino Royale for them not to eventually turn it into a Bond film.

That certainly wouldn't go down well with the rest of the nations in the UK and I for one would be bitterly disappointed to the verge of not going to see it.

Totally agree Moonraker5, Im tired of all the "For England" references, and after all, is it not true that Mr Bond is the son of an Italian mother and Andrew Bond... a Scot??????

Like the idea of Casino Royale done seriously (might be better to leave that to introduce a new Bond into a comfort zone though!) and I dont know why Colonel Moon from DAD couldn't just as easily have been Colonel Sun???????

What about The Spy Whose Eyes Were Only For When Tomorrow Lives Twice???? :-)

Yes, but it would send terrible if it was:-
'What I do for the UK'

Do you always fast forward through the scene with Helga Brandt on board the Ning Po in YOLT when Bond says "The things I do for England" as well?

How about 'What I do for England (not forgetting Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland)'

You have to make a decision between what sounds aesthetically pleasing and what's politically correct. Yes, James Bond does work for the BRITISH Secret Service, but at the end of the day - Bond was raised, educated and lives in England, and that's where his heart and his allegiance lies. What happens if Britain joins the EU, will we have to change it again:-

Trevelyan: For the European Union, James?
Bond: For the European Union, Alec.

What if a future Bond film was set around the "war on terrorism".

How about, "The things I do for a US/Anglo led coalition supported by a number of other countries who's grateful help should not be forgotten".

Political correctness should be left for the real world arena, not the world of Bond.

Well if we're going to play that game, since Bond is Scottish (you'll find it in Fleming's novels where it is spoken from the horses mouth), we could settle for "The Things I Do For Scotland". To be honest, none of the above appeal to me at all.

The British Secret Service represents us all here. The British Union Flag is not the flag of England either, it is just as much Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish. And yes, to be honest the "For England" comments irritate me. With the business I'm in, I know plenty of Scotsman and Ulsterman in the British Armed Forces and none of them would dream of making such a comment that alienates any people in this land whom they serve. He sould be saying "For Britain, Alec" cause like it or not that's who he works for, we're a united country. It is just yet another minor, arrogant, irritation that I grimace at until it passes.

And for your information, Britain is already in the European Union.

I don't think "The Property of a Lady" would be an appropriate title, as it is used in Octopussy as the name of the Faberge Egg.

    Just my thought...

FADE TO BLACK (Could be said in the movie)
JUGGERNAUT (Name of a stolen military weapon)
CRADLES TO GRAVES (Gustav Graves returns! Not likely)
HELL'S PEAK (Location of villain's mountain lair)
BARON VON KREUGER (The villain. Theme would suck.)

Bond's mum was French, not Italian. Also, didn't Bond say, in YOLT "what I do for England" that's where I copied it from. I did not mean for their to any political motivation behind it. Also, the spelling of my last name (Tait) is Scotish, not English (which is Tate)

Also, I copied the "Living's in the way we die" from lyrics to a Bond song. Does anybody have any idea which one? If titles of chapters could be used for names of movies, then why not song lyrics?

I have no problem with it. After all, "The World Is Not Enough" was used in OHMSS.

Bond's mother is neither French or Italian. She's Swiss and her name is Monique De La Croix. See the obit towards the end of the novel You Only Live Twice.

As for Bond, he was born in London. Yes, he is half Scots, half Swiss, but at the end of the day if you're born in London no matter where your parents are from, you're automatically English, British and European!

That lyric is from TLD. It was sung very nicely by The Pretenders, and I really like the song. One of the better themes, though few will agree.

Oh, crap! I can't believe I made such a stupid mistake! It was rather late, and I was functioning on little sleep. Shows what happens when you're low on sleep. TLD is even one of my favourite Bond tunes. Thanks Moonie.

Property of a Lady would be an excellent choice.

Also, I wouldn't be opposed to a remake of Casino Royale
