Bond's 50th Anniversary

I amongst every other Bond fan enjoyed all the Bond hype in 2002 that accompanied DAD for the series' 40th Anniversary.

It does beg the question however of what will be done in 2012 when Bond celebrates its 50th anniversary? DAD did quite rightly perhaps exploit the fact that its release date feel on the 40th anniversary in every way possible and turned it into a selling point by including references to so many of the other films in it. As 50 is a bigger event than 40, I wonder how Eon will either:
(A) Avoid repeating the same celebrations as in 2002.
(B) Make sure that the celebrations are on a larger scale.

Logically, Eon will no doubt ensure that a new film's release date coincides with the anniversary (as was with DAD).

Any thoughts as to what could be done?

Book a fortnight at Empire Leicester Square, showing the top Bond films remastered etc as they were meant to be seen.

A theme park with Ken Adam's designs eg the volcano and Liparus - a bit pricey, that though!

Release Operation Kid Brother on DVD!

Well, if they make a bond film every two years from the release of DAD, by 2012 they could have bond 25 coincide with year 50. just a thought.

25 and 50 would be very nice but it will probably end up being...

    24 and 50

    21, 2004
    22, 2007
    23, 2009
    24, 2012

That seems so far off doesn't it?

They should make tons of movies, just like the 70`s and 80`s
as soon as they finish one, get a new scrip and start over.Bond 50th sould be 30.

When I first saw this topic, I immediately thought that EON should incorporate a "gold" theme into the 50th film; but since Bond has already dealt with gold fingers, guns, and eyes, it might be interesting if the number 50 could figure into the plot and/or if the dialogue and art direction could contain 50s. (For instance, Bond could drive a vintage 1950 car, 50 could be part of several addresses, L--the Roman form of 50--could pop up a lot, etc.) Too cheesy?

Some good ideas there Hardyboy. Perhaps Bond can be seen celebrating his birthday in the movie too? (but don't let on that he is really a 50 year old!!!)

I had ths awful feeling that Hardyboy was going to start listing golden body parts. Mind you, we've already got Goldenballs in this country; should we add a few more to the list? :))

If it's Craig, he'd be the right age for Devil May Care.

There will be no doubt that copious books, magazines and memorabillia will be available for Bond's 50th and ITV will have a 2 hour special hosted by whoevers in vogue next year and will include interviews with anyone associated with 007.
I hope they have some sort of ceremony/celebration gala night-type thing perhaps with Royal patronage!? Let's wait and see...

Would be real nice if they could have some live event and somehow get all the Bond actors on stage together for a curtain call. Wouldn't mind if they could get all the lovely ladies together also. I know some of the actors/actresses have aged quite a bit, but it would be great to see. I would also provide a salute to the late John Barry. EON or the studio might have to spend some money, but it would be worth it, I am sure plenty of publicity would be garnered.

As for the film, I would avoid any mention of the anniversary.

You can be absolutely certain that eom plan something big for the 50th and it's more good (bad?) fortune that the b23 will also be(latedly) released in 2012.

As to the 2002 celebration it would help them to know what precisely needs to be avoided .

    How about some details?

    Cheers
