In many ways what the old TG team did ( and will continue to do on Amazon) was
make it look easy, So many think they can just take over. I don't mind Chris
Evans but with this he has a massively successful programme and team to be compare to.
Odd with the new TG they haven't bothered to go for Car, Presenters or journalists but
for some personalities and one big problem they'll have is, Jeremy Clarkson wrote most
of the scripts. We're always told Bond needs better scripts, and TG has lost it's best script
writer, and several of the new dream team have already left Chris Evan's TG.

I don't have very high hopes for the new TG at all. The thing that made the original TG so good was its spontaneity. They weren't copying anything else, they were totally original. They did what they wanted to do, and it worked. As it became more and more successful and their budgets increased exponentially, they simply continued to do the same thing they'd always done just with better cars (and fighter planes and ships and tanks etc) and in more and more exotic locations.
TG was Jezza, May and the Hamster. Like them or not, there was no disputing that they made the show. I just don't think it's possible to replicate what they did using anyone else at all, and especially not Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc.

This is pretty much the only Swedish/Danish cooperation that works nowadays, much because of one of the leads named Saga Noreen (Sofia Helin). Saga is a briliant detective, but she also has Asbergers. This makes her very difficult, but also entertaining and facinating. Here are some highlights from her straight forward and wacky ways:

Right now there is an exhibition of the works of painter Nikolai Astrup (1880-1928) at Dulwich Picture Gallery, London. Both the Guardian and the Telegraph write very nice things about his works. Astrup grew up a bit south of where I live and some of his paintings show the landscape quite well. How about some thick dark material and some adjustable props? Then you can ratchet the props tight to the window reveal or ceiling in front of the windows? The props I'm talking about are used by tradesmen to hold plasterboard etc and extend from about 4' to around 10' you simply trap the material and keep it tight.
I like to complain of how few foreign movies are made in my native Norway. Here is a twist: a shot of Norway that shouldn't have been in a movie! "The Danish Girl" has gotten rave reviews, but some have wondered about one scene near the end. Look:

Against the advice of all the Danes in the crew the director used a greeen screen shot taken from the coast of Norway, not far from where I live.
Stag, one of the most effective ways to block light from coming through a window is tin foil. Of course, it's fiddly and has all of the other negatives that you're trying to avoid, but it's better than cardboard, black paper etc. Likely not a solution for what you need and want, but thought I'd throw it in there.

That's a good idea. The whole setting up & removal of things to the windows is rather impracticable because of their size & height. Thinking further on the subject I may approach the owners of the hall to put forward the following idea: If I had some bi folding window shutters made would they be willing to have them left in place. As well as providing a darkened environment for the film club they could aid security if they were made lockable.
Hopefully when the initiative is launched it will prove successful enough to encourage more people who live in isolation to get out for the afternoon where they can enjoy a free film show, free hot drinks & light snacks, meet new friends & generally socialise for the afternoon. Our 'pop in' club for senior citizens has proved so popular that it is sadly now oversubscribed so I see this as a way of reaching out to those who are unable to attend for that reason.
Of course cheaper than shutters would be to ask permission to fit some black out roller blinds, fitted in minutes and when rolled up very unobtrusive.
