I love the story of the Queen walking in Balmoral, with a couple of dogs and ( at a distance) a plainclothes
Police bodyguard. When she came across an old American couple also out walking. Stopping for a chat
after a while the couple asked. " We hear the Queen lives around here, have you ever seen her ?"
Smiling the Queen answered " I haven't, but he has " pointing to her bodyguard. .
There was a similar story about someone who went up to her once and said "You look just like the Queen!" to which HM replied "How reassuring."

Here is another peculiar Royal moment: During the energy crisis in 1973 King Olav V of Norway (sitting next to the woman) decided to take the tram to go skiing
He even insisted on paying the ticket himself ....
Yesterday I had to drive my daughter to her univerisity for a couse then drive her home again.
To kill the time, I watched Spectre, Goldeneye and most of Diamonds are Forever on my little

Not much chance of getting any of our lot to pay anything out of their own pockets )
Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.
This picture is from a nazi demonstration in the Swedish town of Borlänge last Sunday. The woman who is standing up to them is Tess Asplund (42) :007)
Number24, you are ahead of your time. This has now gone viral. Front page of CNN.com this morning, and apparently JK Rowling has weighed in with support on Twitter.
Well done Tess Asplund, I think she speaks for us all.
Is a bald head and beard now official Nazi uniform ?
I also notice one of the master race needs glasses ?
So not really superior to the rest of us. ) then again I
guess his defective eyes go with his defective political
viewpoint.

Don't forget that SS chief Heinrich Himmler had glasses too.

I'm going to have a very quiet 3 days starting from now . The election for the new President is on Monday and the city will be full of rallies so it's staying at home watching some movies, reading and having a few drinks. A daily walk on the beach will be on the menu also. Ah! breakfast is ready - yogurt, green figs and coffee of course!
Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.

In Sylvi's defence she didn't jump off the ship to see what it was like to be a refugee, but because the crew of the rescue ship she was visiting asked her to help demonstrate their equipment. At least that's what they said ... :v
It's Mother's Day here in The Philippines and have just returned home after taking Mrs CHB to lunch at Tides which is just down the road from us at the Shangri-La Resort. The other half had Chicken Adobo while I had Bistek Tagalog which is a beef dish. We both had Mango & Coconut Tart to finish, washed down with a bottle of Les Barrones Sancerre. A nice stroll down the beach has completed a lovely day and -{ to all AJB mums.

Mother's Day and had to post this pic of my amazing Mom...an adventurer, philanthropist, and matriarch...you remain the anchor of our family and we love you for it.
I am usually pretty casual when it comes to hygene. I was my hands after the loo, but besides that, I don't do much.
That changes when I board a ship.
The cruise lines constantly remind people to take precautions and it's shocking to see how people behave - particularly people, who may have not the health stamina like I do. I could easily cope with some days of diarrhea.
You can see people touching fresh plates at the buffet and put them back where somebody else picks them up, people not washing their hands at the loo and then touching door handles - and even when someone at the buffet entrance offers them some sterile handcream, they refuse.
My personal favourites are people who are filling up water bottles where big signs tell them not to do it, because that's the best thing to contaminate the water dispenser and then everybody else's drinks and when you tell them they treat you like an alien.

Well the day finally came ,the day we buried dad. Glorious Norfolk sunshine awaited our 3 hour drive from Kent .It could have been worse ,it could have been pouring down .The funeral directors were marvellous ,very professional and on a different day ,dad would have been pleased. So on the day that we all dread ,a day that we all fear ,it wasn't too bad .Now the next chapter of the life of A.S is to be written ,turn the page and begin. R.I.P dad I will see you again one day .

Yes, Dr Goebbels had a club foot. All very Aryan, like Hitler with his black hair. )
