We went out for dinner the other night ,nothing special ,it was on board the R.S Hispaniola, its an old boat mored up on the river Thames by Charing cross railway bridge . Its been there for years ive never ever used it , but in for a penny ,we booked up and went . Food was excellent, my mojito (£9-00) was not very good ,the mint looked as if had died 8-) but hey . Now the views were fab ,we was dead opposite the London eye ,all lit up in purple .in the back ground Westminster bridge spanned the cold Thames ,carrying iconic red double decker London buses ,taking weary Londoners home .After our meal my wife and I staggered onto the outside deck to take the obligatory selfies with St Stephens tower (big Ben ) to all you non Londoners in the back ground .Now 9pm Big Ben (the bell) belted out its classic Westminster chime .Now ive am a born and bred Londoner ,and I can honestly say ,I have never ever heard this in my life ,yes I seen it on old B&W films ,the new years eve fire work display, but ive never ever stopped and waited to hear its boom,(well you don't do you) .My wife commented that ,there are people all around the world ,that would give their back teeth to be where was was at this time ,ive spoken to many a awe inspired foreigner on holiday,
who always say the same thing "oh your from London " cant wait to go ,I wish I could go ect ect ,but we just take old London town for granted ,sometimes you forget how lucky we are,Weve now booked a river boat cruise of the Thames (never done that either

You will love the river cruise - start early and get off at every stop - I particularly enjoy Greenwich.
Thank you CHB, we are looking forward to sailing up old father Thames ,he is the life blood of the greatest city on earth ,I will lap up all the spiel from the cruise narrator, along with all the other Japanese and American tourist alike I wonder if they will mention that Bond was filmed here /there ect, I hope so , ps I live 15 mins (by car) from Greenwich ,but rarely go there
The spiel on the cruise is highly entertaining, fact mixed with a dose of fiction here and there. I'm a Sarf Londoner - born, raised and worked all my life in the same area but now enjoying retirement on the other side of the world, close to the sea but only a short drive away from the city so I can feel at "home".
Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.

I did see last week that a Norwegian speed boat pilot tried to kill a load of british tourists..... Poor show I say.
I would never imply that the president makes up things. He probably knows about a terrorist attack in Sweden , but hasn't told anyone - including the Swedes.
The speedboat accident was very unfortunate. The art installasjon in Harstad harbour was marked on the maps and any other sensible way, so I suspect the driver didn't do his job properly.
The Swedish Department of Foreign Affairs has contacted Washington for an explanation. I don't remember any country having to contact the US government to explain the President's speeches before

Trump has now explained what he meant by his comment about Sweden. He simply saw a report about Sweden on Fox the night before. It seems he doesn't realize that a president must use language accurately. He said: "Look at what's happening last night in Sweden." What he probably meant was: "You saw last night what's happening in Sweden."
Big difference.
I don't think objects of substatial hisctorical importance should be burned, even if it's from the darkest parts of history. One wouldn't burn the whip of a slave owner or the slave barracks from a plantation now, would we?It speaks about the past, no matter how horrible it was.
