Ah, yes. Today Russia spends 4.5% of their GDP on the military.
The number for the US is 3.5% and China (at least officially?) 2.1%.

I just saw "mad" Jack Churchill's bow. I'm not sure, but it's likely it's the one that was used when he kllled a German soldier. That was the last time a British soldier killed with a bow. (1944).

Nice to see Jonathan Pryce have a great visit to Ireland.
Although why he wore the white suit, and drove around
    In the back of an ice-cream van, I don't know ! :D

Actually some of it is pretty good. But during the cold war the USSR spent about 20% of GDP on the military. I think the US spent about 7% and Norway about 3.5% on the military. I haven't checked the numbers Russia spend on the military today, but I bet you it's much more than what an enormous country with consideredable social problems and an GDP camparable to Spain's should spend on a conflict largely created by their own government.
Give me British or USA technology any day .i can't think of any thing from cars to submarines to sink plugs that the Ruskies have made that I wouldn't rather have or be in , I suppose the only thing they might go down in history for is the dreaded AK47 , but even that I'm sure AsP 9mm will have an opinion on , at least the Chinesse can make a half decent copy of a X5 and a decent sweet and sour pork , at least you won't go Hungary in China

Have you heard the one about the High school teacher who died and went to hell?
-The first thousand years he didn't even realize he was dead...

I'll ask this question here, since it's more cultural than political.

Our Minister of Transportation has resigned because his wife got a position as a doctor in the US. Former Minister Ketil Solvik-Olsen says his wife has put her career on hold to help his work in the past, so now the whole family is loving to America with her.

Would this happen in your country? How would people react?

I couldn't see it happening in Britain. Our current government are the most backward-looking lot since the 1960s and would not wish to get their snouts out of the trough.

Gosh, I really scored at our local charity shop today. A shirt from T M Lewin of Jermyn Street for £3.00. The nearest I'll ever come to sharing a tailor with James Bond!

Here are some photos from a typical Norwegian wedding :))
No. But when Elisabeth and Rune married a few days ago they wanted something special. They are both viking enthusiasts and they rescearched viking weddings carefully. The wedding took place in Bjørkedal, a valley with (a) long boat building traditions. Bjørkedal is a short drive from where I live.

Tennis; Not a sport I have much interest in but I do agree
With Serena Williams, that she was treated in a very "sexist "
Way, and hope changes are brought in to update the sport.

I suspect I'll regret asking, but I still have to ask: What's the pun/double entendre/hidden meaning behind the name Bibi Dahl?

    Yes, and I remember reading that in (I think) the Grandreams FYEO film annual which was one of the first Bond items I bought back in October 1995. -{
"The tough man of the world. The Secret Agent. The man who was only a silhouette." - Ian Fleming, Moonraker (1955).

For the first time ever, I sent an email of complaint to the BBC over an episode of Newsnight.
It was all about Brexit, but was so one sided, I would have thought with an Unbiased broadcaster
they would at least have put up one person taking an opposing opinion.

Whatever gives you the impression the BBC is unbiased? As far as I can tell they are a publicly funded (which is essentially a tax) who in later years have tried to skew public opinion for theit own ends. Last week I had a message from someone whos daughter was attending a BBC run debate on Brexit for under 25s, her daughter was told she would have to be a remainer as there were to many people on the leave side.
I also van not understand why they don't report any positives? At all, very disappointed in the fall of a once great British institution. Good for you TP.
It was either that.....or the priesthood
