Me too. That was an interesting finale that left me wanting more. The implication that Jack may end up being who it's suggested he becomes was a bit of a shock. That actually sent a shiver down my spine. The possibilty that Martha may not return was also suggested, although she gave him a means for The Doctor to contact her, so I hope she will be back. And The Doctor onboard the Titanic. I'm so there. Wasn't the Titanic referenced in one of Eccleston's episodes? I'm sure that somehow The Doctor had persuaded somebody not to travel, or had been on board the great liner. How about a Two Doctors episode? Xmas seems so far away. I guess we'll have to make do with Torchwood towards the end of the year.
It was mentioned by the ninth doctor (Eccleston) - "I was once on a ship, they said that was unsinkable. Ended up clinging to the side of an iceberg. Wasn't half cold."
And earlier that series, it was suggested that he had prevented a family from boarding the Titantic.
As for Capt Jack and his later development, since Capt Jack cannot die and the later character did die, it makes it a somewhat interesting future story arc.

It took the FoB millions of years to die. Jack mentions that although he seems to be immortal, he's still aging. If that is who he becomes, then presumably he just lives so long that his entire shape transforms.
...I guess we'll have to make do with Torchwood towards the end of the year.
I'm sorry to disappoint you, but Torchwood isn't returning until early next year. It was on gallifreyone.com a while ago. The producer (Julie Gardner) said that because last year had been so much of a rush filming and they were still filming the last episodes when the first ones were going out on air, that for the second series, it would go out slightly later, to allow them more time. It's a disappointment for the fans, but I'm sure it's a large burden lifted from those working on the show.
On Saturday's last episode of Doctor Who, I thought it was fantastic and felt genuinely sad for the Doctor when the Master died. Though I have my own theories about what has really hapenned. Of course even now he has died, the drumming really hasn't stopped I'm araid. It has entered my mind and now I can't stop drumming. )
Pop star Kylie Minogue is to have "a major lead role" in this year's Christmas special of Doctor Who.
The star will join David Tennant for Voyage of the Damned, an hour-long show following on from the current series, which ended in the UK on Saturday.
"This will be the most ambitious and best Christmas episode yet," promised executive producer Russell T Davies, who has also written the script.
Filming is scheduled to begin in Cardiff later this month.
There had been rumours for several weeks that Minogue, who halted her Showgirl world tour for 18 months when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, would appear in the show.
And Davies said he was "delighted and excited" to confirm the 39-year-old's participation.
Minogue, whose debut single I Should Be So Lucky topped the charts in 1987, is currently working on her 10th studio album.
Last year's Christmas special of Doctor Who - The Runaway Bride - starred comedian Catherine Tate alongside Tennant.
She played a woman who was upset at being transported into space as she walked down the aisle on her wedding day.
The episode, broadcast on BBC One on Christmas Day, attracted an audience of 9.4 million.
Comedian Catherine Tate is to play Doctor Who's new companion, reprising her role from the 2006 Christmas special, the BBC has announced.
She will join David Tennant for the complete 13-week run of the new series of Doctor Who, which is due to begin filming in Cardiff later this month.
Freema Agyeman, who played the Doctor's companion Martha Jones in the third series, will return mid-series.
Kylie Minogue will be starring in this year's Christmas special.
Tate will be returning to her role as Donna, the runaway bride who found herself transported into the Tardis as she prepared for her wedding on Christmas Eve.
The episode, broadcast on BBC One on Christmas Day, attracted an audience of 9.4 million.
Donna was invited by the Doctor to travel with him at the end of the episode, but the invitation was declined at the time.
Tate was asked if she would like to become the Doctor's new companion at the press screening of the Christmas episode to which she replied, "I would love to, but no one has asked!"
Doctor Who's executive producer and head writer, Russell T Davies described Tate as an "absolute star" in The Runaway Bride episode.
"We are delighted that one of Britain's greatest talents has agreed to join us for the fourth series," he said.
"Viewers can expect more ambitious storylines and a whole host of guest stars in 2008."
Catherine Tate said: "I am delighted to be returning to Doctor Who.
"I had a blast last Christmas and look forward to travelling again through time and space with that nice man from Gallifrey."
Agyeman, 28, is to play Martha Jones in three episodes of spin-off show Torchwood, which producers have said will "expand" her character.
She replaced Billie Piper, who left at the end of the second series.
The fourth series of Doctor Who is due to debut on BBC One in Spring 2008.
A Christmas special starring David Tennant and Kylie Minogue will be screened on Christmas Day 2007.
Catherine Tate!!!!! Jesus No. No, No, No, No. She was awful in The Runaway Bride. She spent the entire episode SHOUTING. Given that we already have David Tennant, who every so often gets a bit SHOUTY, we're going to have a lot of SHOUTING next season. Of all the people they could have chosen. 8-) Why not Carey Mulligan, who was everything an assistant should be? She was wonderful in 'Blink.' And what was so wrong with Freema? Why is she getting punted. This is one assistant I hope gets exterminated.
I read yesterday on the net that it was certain to be Tom Ellis, who played Dr Milligan in the last episode. Too many good choices passed up... I just can't see Tate being serious at all.

I thought Freema and Ellis worked well together. I don't see how RTD can think Tate is an actress. She can do the broad comedic style, but she was hopeless at the dramatic scenes in 'Runaway Bride.' I don't know anybody who thought she gave a great performance in that. Or in fact, a performance at all. Maybe it's a joke. In which case it's really not funny. Worst assistant since Bonnie Langford.
i know this is changing the catherine tate thing u got going
but anyone got an idea who the women with red nail varnish was near the end of the last episode ?:) picking up the masters ring or something

I assumed it was The Masters wife. But, then again, with RTD, you can never be sure.
{[] She looks great. I guess this picture was taken just as they heard Catherine Tate was joining the production. Naturally, they both look terrified. )
This has got a really impressive cast- most British movies would like this sort of lineup: Kylie Minogue, David Tennant, Geoffrey Palmer, Clive Swift, plus (according to the press release): ‘Voyage of the Damned’ will also feature Gray O'Brien who recently appeared in the Oscar winning film ‘The Queen’, Debbie Chazen; star of the BBC comedy series ‘The Smoking Room, Olivier Award winner Clive Rowe, Russell Tovey from the smash hit film ‘The History Boys’, Jimmy Vee who has previously been in Doctor Who as the Moxx of Balhoon and George Costigan who starred in ‘The Long Firm’ and the acclaimed film ‘Rita Sue and Bob Too’.

I feel sorry for Paul McGann. I thought he was rather good in his one-off appearance and would have been an excellent Doctor if allowed to continue. I do prefer Eccleston to Tennant. However, if Tennant had been allowed to talk in his own accent, I think I would like him better. That's RTD's decision though. RTD is so frustrating. On one hand we have a new improved Doctor Who, on the other we've got some ridiculous stuff to put up with. Tennant forced to talk like Guy Ritchie, Torchwood, Catherine Tate, and the shameless cribbing of material from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
the Jurt is currently out on cathrine tate. I thought she was alright on bits of Runaway Bride but absolute rubbish on other bits. I was a little sick of the shouting by the end of it. in fact I didn't think it was that good a christmas special compared to Christmas invasion, however I did love the fact that we got to hear the Doctor Say Galiphrey for the first time in the new series.
but how is the doctor going to meet Donna again seeing as she has already refused to accompany the doctor?

I wasn't impressed with the Christmas Special last year, but I suppose Catherine Tate was alright in it. However, I'm not looking forward to her being in it regularly. She was definitely much better as a one off thing. It's just everytime I see her a little voice inside my head screams "Am I bovad?!". )

After months of media speculation, the BBC can confirm that the BAFTA award-winning Doctor Who will return for a fifth series in Spring 2010.
Viewers are in for a treat this Christmas, as a special episode starring David Tennant and Kylie Minogue will be broadcast on BBC One in December 2007.
Series Four, which went into production in July 2007, will hit UK screens in Spring 2008, followed by a special episode for Christmas 2008.
In 2009 Doctor Who will return with three specials starring David Tennant, with Head Writer, Russell T Davies.
The full-length fifth series will transmit in 2010.
Jane Tranter, Controller, BBC Fiction, says: "Doctor Who is one of the BBC's best loved and most successful dramas. Its journey over the past three series has been one of the most ambitious and exciting that we have had, and I'm delighted to be able to confirm not only three exciting specials for 2009, but a fifth series in 2010. "
Menna Richards, Controller, BBC Wales, says: "The success of Doctor Who is a fantastic tribute to the dedication and expertise of the production team at BBC Wales who have worked on the project from the outset. This announcement is marvellous news for all involved, and more importantly for the programme's amazing fan base and audience. BBC Wales is looking forward to producing the fifth series."
Following the critically acclaimed season three finale, the BBC has announced that Catherine Tate is set to return to the TARDIS for the complete 13-week run of series four, reprising her role as Donna from the 2006 Christmas special.
Freema Agyeman, who won praise for her portrayal of Martha Jones in series three, is also set to return mid series four.
I'm left wondering why there isn't just a full series in 2009? ?:)

Isn't it to give David Tennant time to do 'other projects' ? I'm sure that's what the media were saying - it's either that or lose him, which is very probable anyway.
Hard not to be a little disappointed by this. It was obvious that something odd would be happening because it was known that he'd signed up to play Hamlet for the RSC when they'd usually be filming Dr Who next year, but I'd didn't expect that; him simply leaving seemed the more natural choice. Perhaps they all need a little rest.
Still, nice to know that series 5 will be on its way.
These last few months have been pretty perplexing. First Martha getting sent to Torchwood, then Catherine Tate replacing her, and now a delay in production. The worst possible news I read was RTD saying that Harry Lloyd (who played Baines in the double-bill 'Human Nature,' and 'Family of Blood') might make a good Doctor.
I thought this guy was awful. The only worse performer in the series has been Tate and we're already going to be stuck with her for at least a year. If we had the both of them in the Tardis I think I'd give up.
Still, I notice James Marsters (Spike from Buffy) is filming an episode of Torchwood. That should be worth seeing.

... perhaps as a flashback scene, but nevertheless ...
Quasireligious themes, whatever next!
Good episode despite the Flash Gordon film Ming-esque exit of the Master. I'm certainly looking forward to Christmas Day's special!
Yep, it was all there for you
Some really nice touches too, especially whom Capt. Jack turns out to be
A great series - full marks all round, I still prefer Eccleston but Tennant is growing on me.
One more series for both Russell and David - both will be hard acts to follow.
I feel somewhat lost now.

She will be appearing in a few episodes of Torchwood though.
I wonder if they're going to bring back Sally Sparrow from the outstanding 'Blink' and have her as a companion?
