Im not sure what I thought of Harry Lloyd's performance in The Family of Blood, but I don't think he'd play the Doctor very well.
I am rather aprehensive of Catherine Tate being a companion and of Martha entering Torchwood, but I'm not going to form any definite opinions of those things yet. I much enjoyed the first series of Torchwood and think I still shall, so long as they keep to a similar formula as before. One or two tweaks wouldn't be too bad though.
The second series of Torchwood, of what I've heard, seems to be sounding rather good and there's several guest appearances I'm looking forward too.
I thought Harry Lloyd was absolutely magnetic in Family of Blood; a great performance. But I also think he's pretty rubbish in Robin Hood, so I have n idea how he'd play the Doctor!
Ah; I quite enjoyed it. some funny lines, and good pace. Sarah Jane's still good and the kids who plays Clyde is very talented. The Slitheen were finally looking good too!
And I understand that K9 even manages to pop up later in the series too
Took my little boy to the Manchester Science And Industry Museum today to see the Dr. Who exhibition - it's very good, if a tad small and a shade expensive.
Anybody else catch the Children in Need special last night? I thought it was quite touching. "You were my Doctor" As ever Moffat's writing was great. The jibes about the 5th Doc's choice of celery as a decoration for his jacket were spot on. And a nice excuse for Davison looking 25 years older was given. I just wish it had been a full length episode.
Cracking wasn't it? Davison was excellent, even if his character had changed slightly from how it used to be. Surprisingly touching at the end, too. He was my Doctor as well.
Amazed they can't spell the ex-lead actor's name right!
I thought they closed the book on Rose quite definitively at the end of season 2. Why they have to mess us about with assistants like this I don't know. I thought Freema was doing fine. I think the BBC are pushing RTD to get the highest ratings possible, by including a household name like Tate, and bringing back the popular Ms Piper. Of course the one they should be bringing back is Sally Sparrow. Quite the best female character to appear in the show so far. Is David Tennant some kind of Mormon Timelord, who can have as many assistants as he likes?
I don't get the Sally Sparrow love; yes, she was good, but I wouldn't go overboard for her.
I love Martha, more than Rose; she seemed like such a clever, well put together woman, who mooned after a man she couldn't have and was then grown up enough to realise it and walk away. I liked that. I'm looking forward to her return in Torchwood (with the proviso that FILTHY OWEN DOESN'T TOUCH HER WITH HIS PERVY NO-LIPPED MOUTH) and I'm especially looking forward to her return to Who, preferably in the last few episodes so she can continue through the specials and season 5.
And just in case there's anyone who doesn't know:
I thought Rose was wonderfully tied up in Doomsday with one of the best most affecting scenes on television that year. I wanted to leave her there. If she has been brought back at the expense of Martha I will be annoyed.
Of course now I've said that I'll still watch every single episode and enjoy it anyway!
It's funny; I prefer Martha to Rose (and I have a feeling that Donna is going to work out very well), but I much prefer Billie to Freema. Billie's just such a good actor.
when series three was being announced I had no problems with the fact that Rose was not in it and they were giving the doctor a new companion. Yes she was great when she was in it but why do they have to bring her back again? her character for me seemed finished by the end of doomsday and by the end of series 3 the doctor was finally moving on from Rose. now they are going to bring her back somehow split them up again and we're going to have a few more episodes of the doctor feeling depressed. I don't really know why Billie Piper as Rose was so fantastic. yes she was a first companion for the "new" doctor ad their relationship was a lot closer than any of his past companions by couldn't they have left her in the alternate universe?
However now I've said that I know I'm going to enjoy watching the episodes anyway.
If you've been keeping them peeled you may have noticed that the BBC trails for Christmas have started, including lots of clips from the Dr Who Special (here for example: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=3vHgNAwk5zM )
Plus, I hear on the grapevine that the Beeb bosses like it so much that they haven't asked the production team to cut it down even though it overruns: it's going to be 70 mins long! Hooray! 18.50 to 20.00 Christmas Day is what they're saying at the moment!
Oh, plus it's very much worth going to the Dr Who website at www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho everyday this month as it's their annual advent calendar, and the treats really are very good!
A bit off topic, but I just purchased The Master's Laser Screwdriver toy, and it's great!
One thing though (if anyone else has the same toy), does anyone know how to change the FX Sounds? The box said it has 2 sounds, but I can only get the same Buzz sound.
Thanks for your help.

Don't worry, I worked it out. If you touch the "fire" button briefly, it makes a brief BUZZing sound, and if you hold down the fire button, it makes a different, longer BUZZing sound.
On another topic, apparently Character Options has won the rights to the classic Doctor Who characters, and are planning on releasing action figures of the entire 10 Doctors.
Woo Hoo!!!

Voyage of the Damned turned out quite well. It was a bit ho-hum for a bit, with the plot nicked from The Posiedon Adventure, but the last 25 minutes were outstanding. Shame Kylie couldn't have stayed for longer. "Stop me falling."
Good to see the trailers for both Season 4 and Torchwood afterwards. Especially with James Marsters appearing in the TW preview.
As for Capt Jack and his later development, since Capt Jack cannot die and the later character did die, it makes it a somewhat interesting future story arc.
It took the FoB millions of years to die. Jack mentions that although he seems to be immortal, he's still aging. If that is who he becomes, then presumably he just lives so long that his entire shape transforms.
There's an interesting interview with John Barrowman in the Radio Times to promote Torchwood. Barrowman confirms that Jack is indeed the Face of Bo.
Barrowman confirms that Jack is indeed the Face of Bo.
That is still a piece of continuity I'm going to ignore unless they actually use it in an effective way. I just don't see jack as the Face of Boe. it just feels like something they added in as a Joke at the end of Series 3. it voids all other infomation we have regarding the Face of Boe. but then again maybe I'm wrong and they had known that the face of boe was Jack all along.
Great news, Character Options has announced (albeit not very loudly) their plans to release 5" action figures of classic Doctor Who characters. YIPPEE!!!
After much searching, on a nearly daily basis, I have found out the following information:
These action figures are expected in Spring 2008 (March-May):
The 4th Doctor - Revenge of the Cybermen
The 5th Doctor - Ressurrection of the Daleks
The 6th Doctor - Attack of the Cybermen
Sea-Devil - The Sea Devils
Zygon - Terror of the Zygons
Voc & Super Voc Robot Twin Pack - The Robots of Death
Greel & Mr Sin - The Talons of Weng-Chiang

Anybody catch David Tennant on The Friday Night Project? He's pretty funny. Freema was on it too, which sadly might be the only time we'll see them together this year.
Apart from when they're in Doctor Who together, you mean?

Lol yeah. ) I didn't see it but I saw him when he was on it last year and that was pretty good. I'm afraid this year I was watching Al Murray's Happy Hour (yes I do shout out with the audience too ;% ) and tehn when the repeat was on found ymself watching Terminator 2...

Er, I think I'll just wait for the Xmas special. It's for kids really. Unless Tennant makes an appearance, which I suppose is highly unlikely.

I'm really looking forward to this!
And Steven Moffat's writing it.
He'S written the best episodes so far, IMHO.

All that plus a gag about the Master being gay!
(Davison was my Doctor too!)
