I loved the last episode. Which only had the doctor in it. Superb. Capaldi never ceases to surprise me. I think he would also make a great Bond character. Perhaps a Villain?
For me, series 9 has not been as good as series 8, which blew my mind and is the best series IMHO.
However it outplays any of the Matt Smith seasons for me as far as clever writing, lovely characters and plots go. (Even tho 11th dr was brilliant).
I reckon this is the best the new series had ever been, I personally find David Tennant overrated.
More 12th doctor please!

I agree Capaldi is fantastic, but then again I've always liked him.
I thought Matt Smith would be a very hard act to follow. I find
Capaldi's Dr, ( as other Doctors have shown in the past) to be very
Vengeful, his determination in escaping from his castle prison ( the
Length of time it took, now that's a long time for anger to build up ) )
I'd say there'll be a certain amount of ass kicking next week.

After an emotional ending to Clara. Moffat basically re-wrote it and gave us a pointless re-hash that undid it. The ending was contemptible. No idea what he was smoking when he wrote that episode, but it seems he is again re-writing DW for himself. He hasn't written anything good since Blink. Sonic Sunglasses FFS 8-) When asked why he did that, he relied 'because I can'. And that just sums him up. He aggressively had a go at a seven year old kid because he said the glasses were silly and asked when the proper sonic would be coming back. It was shocking to see. He wants to change everything and he's finally receiving a backlash. You'd think he would learn after the BBC stopped him from calling Series 5, Series 1 again. And let's not forget the daft Daleks he changed, and the U-turn he had to make after people discovered his story ark in Series 5 was originally planned to wipe the entire DW universe that had gone before his tenure and start from scratch as a reboot for Smiths second season. The man is an egotistical loon.
I have to say, despite my optimistic posts. Even I think this hasn't
been a great series, the first half or so were very good, but it just
didn't hit the spot for me.

I thought the episode had some good moments--like the Dalek screaming, "Ex-ter-mi-nate. . .ME!"--but on the whole it was kind of a mess. The Doctor has had many companions die on him in the past, but what's so important about Clara that he'd risk literally everything to save her?
Reports are saying Peter Capaldi will only be doing the next series ?
Then another reboot perhaps ?

SPOILER>>>>>
He will bow out at the Xmas special. But the series has never been rebooted. And won't. The history is what makes the series and the villains what it is. Moffat tried to reboot it, but was slapped down by the BBC execs.

I actually thought that when I read about it yesterday )
I'm pleased that Moffat is leaving, I do like him a lot, but I feel like it was his time to leave. My criticism of his writing is that he could be sometimes 'too clever'.
Capaldi, however, will be missed. I really wanted him to break the third season barrier and be the longest serving New Doctor Who actor.

Moffat is the reason the show will be cancelled. Three more seasons and it will be gone. The damage has been done over the last seven years, so prepare yourselves as we are back in 1987. Capaldi's Doctor will show a different attitude this year as they try to claw back the ratings. Old Cybermen, Ice Warriors... They're desperate. It get's worse though.....

i don't know.
Doctor Who is still very popular, especially for people around 16-25 range. Big thing was that Capaldi didn't have the 'hunky star' quality which Matt Smith and Tennant had. (Which is a good thing in my opinion.)

Love Peter Capaldi. A truly great Doctor but let down thus far in the writing and the BBC scheduling IMO. I enjoyed Saturday's episode.
Can't wait for the Christmas episode. -{

With you 100% on that one ! I mean...why ?:)
Hadn't heard of the intended reboot either...
Well, the DW budget has been cut - fewer episodes next year...hopefully that will help with the writing !
Steven Moffat is leaving Dr Who.
I like Moffat...but I think this is for the best, the show is going stale...
Speculation on whether Peter Capaldi will leave Dr Who along with
Steven Moffat ?
Peter Capaldi teases about a " Different companion "

just a little more on the story
Next back to basics and a dramatic move away from the self indulgence of the Moffat era...
