Connery Style Holster

Some of you might be aware of the fact that I had a holster maker make a custom
Connery style shoulder holster. It is royal blue with the leather chamois part that holds the gun. I've gotten a few requests about making them based on my pattern. There are two small corrections that need to be made to my pattern to make it more screen accurate, but they are easily made. Basically, I want to get a sense of how many people are interested in this item before I put my money into it. I should think they would go for between $125.00 and $150.00 depending on the cost of materials. Let me know who wants one, and I'll consider it.

For those of you interested in this item. A new pattern based on my custom made Connery holster is in the works as I write this. I am taking most of the design cues off the pre-credit sequence in Goldfinger. If you are a lurker please continue to email me about your interest.

I now have a sample of this item, less the gun pouch. A few minor changes still need to be made. As for the gun pouch, split pig skin has been ordered in order to replicate the "chamois" that Fleming referred to. Stay tuned.

    Hi DG,

This must be the split leather that we emailed about that's lighter in color than your first holster.

You'll be the best judge to finalize the details of the end results. But since it's the Goldfinger movie version that's being made, Fleming's description doesn't factor in as much, only to the extent of getting to the same place where the original prop maker adapted Fleming's description.

Thanks again for taking on this project!

    Superado,

You are quite right, I said Fleming because the filmakers used what he put on paper and adapted it. The holster will be as screen accurate to the Goldfinger version as I can get it. As an aside, if you look at Thunderball after Bond beds down Fiona Volpe, you get a glimpse of the holster when the baddies take his gun. The holster is similar, but the right arm strap looks brown as though it were leather. In OHMSS the holster becomes all black leather, but of similar construction but wihtout the right shoulder stitching. In Diamonds, it's back to the familiar blue, although different.

A second sample holster is in the works as I write this. The second samlpe will include additional modifications that were not made on the first sample. The pigskin has also arrived, and the color is perfect. All you aspiring 007's stay tuned, soon you will be cool too.

A number of you have e-mailed me about this item. It is not quite ready yet. As I explained to one individual, when the second sample is finished, and if it does not have to be altered, then I will start the prototype. The sample will be made of similar, less costly material, where as the prototype will be made out of the genuine material. Quite frankly, I can't wait to see the finished prototype. Then I'll be able to say I wear it "because I have a slight inferiority complex".

When I get the finished prototype I'll make photographs of it available. The second sample had to be modified, it was not quite right. I won't post photos of the sample, because as I said, the materials are similar but different. For instance, the sample holster is not blue in color, it's white. Likewise on the sample, the split leather or suede is not pigskin and it is also more of a brown as apposed to the sand color it should be.

The second smple is now perfect. Work now begins on the prototype. Those of you who wanted this item need to consider if you want small, medium, large or extra-large based on shirt size. Although this was a bespoke item, this is the best I can do in terms of sizing. The holsters will be made to order. I hope to have the prototype ready in a week or two.

Here are pictures of the prototype. The tie down has not been attached yet, and it still needs some tweeking here and there. The pigskin is too thin and needs to be mated to some heavier buckskin or other split leather. A real gun like this ppks would rip it to shreds over time. Check it out here:

To those of you interested in this item, work on it kind of came to a halt for a while because of work. Good news, the tie down will be attatched this week, and I'll post pictures as soon as I get the finished item back.

For the others that have inquired, the holster is only for the Walther PPK at this time, sorry.

Scaramanga1, I'll send pictures of the holster this evening, when I get home. Sorry for the delay.

Thank you all for your continued interest.

For those of you interested in this item, there are two other changes that will be made to the final product. First, the bottom of the portion that holds the gun will be blunt and not rounded. Second, the leather chsmois will not have the two indentations where you see the blue fabric protruding on the left side of the screen in the under arm shot. The leather will go all the way to the edge.

I just received my Connery Holster from Donald and wow, it is utterly fantastic! I popped in my GF DVD and painstakingly freeze-framed much of the PTS, and it is uncanny how my holster point for point looked like the film version, and dare I say even looked improved upon?

It is very crisply sewn and solidly constructed, and "polished" in quality that would surpass a mass produced specimen, if these existed. Now my reproduction, non-firing metal PPK has a home; I plan on putting up a solitary peg on the wall just for the holster.

I first stumbled onto AJB last year in hopes of finding a Connery holster replica (I even remember doing a "no-no" by posting the same inquiry in both the General and Memorabilia forums). I'm sure that some of you are saying, "Now that you got your holster, get out and don't come back!" :)) :)) :)) :)) :)) :)) Too bad, I'm staying!

Thanks DG for taking on this intrepid project; it was very generous of you!
