Hey "Red", nice shoulder rig, although the holster part could be improved in design. You could get about half a second (!) off the draw time by dropping the lip down by the trigger and making it a tighter fit around the gun, canting it less to the rear.
Sorry if this annoys you mate lol, just meant as constructive criticism. I'ts still very good. I am sure the holster part was not that large/loose around the gun in the film.
I play plain clothes airsoft games and I favour the stiff saddle type leather holster which slips inside the waistband on crossdraw (like Major Boothroyd gives Bond in Dr. No). I have looked to find a BM Tripple Draw with tension spring but I don't think you can get them any more
I used to play with a Maruzen Walther PPK, then I got the Maruzen Military P99 to try (the one i'm selling in this forum). A limited edition model and it had the model number as "007007". I loved it and only ever tested it at home, never used it in play, because now I have a Marui Glock 26, and that new holster I told you about! Basically it had better skirmish qualities and i find it faster to draw from my holster.
You haven't seen a place selling Berns Martin holsters have you?
I for one would not use this holster to conceal a real gun or for quick draw excercises. The most significant departure of the early Bond screen rigs from real ones is that they were not practical, as you and others on the Internet concluded. When I first tried looking for a commercial version of Bond's holster, I assumed that they would be around then could not find any (and man, if only I could count the hours I spent on the Internet, going on Firearm sites and forums, etc.) I concluded that the Bond holster was custom made specifically for the films. The most logical reason why they did this was to make it look neat and interesting cinematically and aesthetically, hence the blue fabric, yet they wanted to incorporate Fleming's orginal description of a chamois holster, which again, firearm experts regard as impractical. As I earlier mentioned on this thread, my search for a Connery-style holster is what brought me to this site; being the first recipient of Donald's custom holster, I cannot overemphasize my awe and appreciation for his painstaking reproduction of the Goldfinger holster, point for point, impracticalities and all. It was this holster that first stuck to my mind when I began watching Bond on TV during the early 70's.

I was not aware that I sent you a holster. I don't recall sending one to an Austin. Nonetheless, experts agree that the most tactical way to carry a firearm is on the hip. Not under the arm, on the ankle, or in the small of the back. That is of course if you plan on going into harms way with real bullets.
In any case the Connery style holster was designed to be a replica of the one Bond carries in Goldfinger. It is not supposed to be stiff leather, but the leather Chamois affair that Fleming wrote about. True, Fleming did refer to it as a Berns-Martin Triple Draw, but the real Berns-Martin Triple Draw was designed for a revolver (a .38 caliber if memory serves me correctly), not an automatic. Fleming got it wrong, but he was a fan of so called double barreled words like Berns-Martin, Dom Perignon and Aston Martin. He actually collected such words and names in a little note book.
In any case, it does not bother me that you've made observations about the holster or it's effectiveness for what you've chosen to use it for. I do, however, think you've missed the whole point entirely.

One other thing, I did not respond to the issue of tight fitting. If you look at the early Bond movies closely, you'll see that the part that holds the gun is not tight fitting at all. In Dr. No, the same holster is used for the Beretta and the Walther. If it were as tight fitting as you suggest it could not be used for both guns.

You are mistaken, I'm not angry. I'm just pointing out that you don't know what you are talking about, at least with respect to the Connery holster, or with respect to carrying real weapons.
First off the holster in Dr. No was never replaced. Second, the holster used was not a Berns-Martin of any kind, it was made by the production company in an attempt to get as close to Flemings description as possible. Third, you can ignore me all you want, but you need to watch the movies closely because what you've said is wrong. Other members on this forum can back me up, the movies speak for themselves.

I never said I was making a Holster based on the literary Bond. My point was to make the Connery Style holster based on the early Bond movies. This is the holster that caught my imagination, and like Superado, I have searched high and low for one with no success. So I decided to make one as close to the screen version as possible (in this case the Goldfinger screen version).
As for meathods of carry for firearms, I never said there were not diverse methods of carry. I said the most tactically superior method is on the hip. If you are right handed that means you carry on the right hip, and if you are left handed, you carry on the left hip. I know this to be true throughh my training and because I carry a real concealed firearm in a professional capacity everyday.

My Dear Bladerunner,

This is the holster that caught my imagination, and like Superado, I have searched high and low for one with no success. So I decided to make one as close to the screen version as possible (in this case the Goldfinger screen version).
...and upon careful examination, the holsters used in DN, GF and DAF (Connery films in which the hosters were given adequate screen time), were different, having only the blue fabric in common. Even the cut and composition of the blue fabric differed from film to film. There was a point where I even offered DG some "correction" based on a Connery vidcapture I had, but later discovered with my DVD machine that Donald's replica was indeed point for point an accurate one of the Goldfinger holster. The vidcap I had was of the DN holster, which IMO (and I assume Donald's too) was inferior to the GF one.
If I wanted a holster for practical use, I would ignore the Bond replica route and just go to a firearm store to try out real ones.

The holster is available in samll, medium and large based on shirt size. If you order accordingly, it should fit. The holsters are not available at this time, but should be in the not too distant future.

To those of you interested in this holster, I've begun a new batch. It should be ready in roughly two weeks. If I didn't make it clear the first time, I'll try again. This is supposed to be a replica of the shoulder holster that Connery wears in the movie Goldfinger. It is not based on any of the Bond novels, nor is it meant to be worn for real carry of firearms. This is simply meant to be a prop. If you'd like to comment on it, please make comments on how I can make it closer to the one in the movie Goldfinger.
