Currently watching Rocky Horror Picture Show - love it or hate it, it's certainly one of the weirdest films out there - so is its (superior) sequel, Shock Treatment.

    I love Rocky Horror Show -{

    The Collector (2009)
A masked killer/ torture movie, After reading the story idea I was excited to
See this. Sadly it's not as good as it's premise. Not bad, I'd give it a 6 / 10.

    The Transporter, Refueled .
Not a bad action flick, but it's not great and well below the standard of the
Statham movies. The car chases are ok but the fights are really poor.
    Ray Stevenson, who plays Frank's dad, is from Lisburn -{

Cold Mountain...a really great film...and something I find very interesting....Most of the major stars aren't even Americans,,,,they're Aussies, Irish, Canadians..English...

Which begs the question...why do so many folks get upset when an American plays an Englishman? Admittedly, most of them can't impersonate an English or Irish accent...but, what the heck?

    Suicide Squad

Despite negative reviews, SS is incredibly enjoyable. Fast paced, with an excellent cast, it really is worth a watch. If you want a film that is exciting and you don't have to think too much about, turn to this. A thin plot, but at least it's a plot that makes sense. Villain a bit weak, but the rest of the cast overshadow the villain and have enough charisma and personality to save it. And Jared Leto is an awesome Joker in my opinion. Go see it! It's like if you take the final big battle of any modern superhero movie, and just making it 2 hours long.

I saw it today with my brother and we both enjoyed it as well. It's not perfect as several members of the squad are pretty superfluous and the Joker factors into the story in a tangential way at best. But the action is great and I thought the movie struck a good balance of action and humor. There are peeks into the larger DC universe and appearances by a couple of heroes as well.

It's pretty obvious by now that the critics have it in for WB's attempt at building their own superhero universe as they are savaging every film released even as opinions of fans and moviegoers are much more positive. It seems every review for one of these movies begins with a lamentation by the critic of how tired they are of the summer spectacles and superhero movies. I would only offer one piece of advice: if you don't care for the material, don't watch the freaking movie!! Critics be damned, when I go to see a movie I just want to be entertained and Suicide Squad delivered.

We saw it in 3D and there were even a few nice pop-out effects as well so I felt like the extra money was not wasted.

    Criminal.
An enjoyable enough thriller with Kevin Cosner , the idea behind it reminds me of an old
60s espionage movie. Which I've been trying to remember the name of. With no luck so far.

The Carrier. john Cusack, De Niro, Dominic Purcell and a rather delectable Rebecca Da Costa in a Tarantino style thriller - pretty good to be fair.

Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home

I'm still getting into Star Trek, and these were all pretty good. I think it's safe to say I prefer the new films over the old ones, but that's just me.

    Finding Dory

As always, good Pixar film. Great for everyone, both kids and adults. I sat through the whole thing, thinking "This score sounds a lot like Thomas Newman, they should get whoever this is if Newman doesn't return". Turns out it was Thomas Newman. His hidden talent being the scores of animated films.

    Self/Less.
Good "Body swap" thriller, similar to the old Rock Hudson film " Seconds" only more
Action filled. Starring Ryan Reynolds , oddly enough he was also in the last film I
Watched "Criminal" ( also about body swapping )

I finally took in Star Trek Beyond, which I enjoyed. Unlike the first film in the new cycle it's not a reboot (how tired I am of that term), and unlike the second it's not a (quasi-) remake--it's simply a fast-paced adventure, with Edris "The Man Who Would Be Bond" Elba making a good villain with a tragic dimension. Worth watching or Trekkers and non-Trekkers alike.

    I watched 'Spotlight' last night.

Really enjoyed it but had trouble at first understanding Mark Ruffalo. I'm not sure if he was doing a Boston accent or an impression of Marlon Brando.

I keep saying he should be the next villain! He can be incredibly menacing, it would be good if he played a Bane - like villain who physically broke Bond, a contrast to the more mental breakdown by Blofeld.

Enigma is coming around on London Live, an underpromoted TV channel (probably cos it's restricted to the Greater London area, I don't know).

This period thriller set at Bletchley Park and about breaking the German code has worn well and I enjoy it more seeing on telly than I did at the time. You have the nice wartime visuals and of course John Barry's lush score, which at the time I did find a distraction as it puts you in mind of his latter day Bond soundtracks; you half expected to see Roger Moore's furrowed brow loom into view. The film was directed by Michael Apted of TWINE of course it has his intelligent if slightly pedestrian touch to it.

Saffron Burrows now seems more attractive to me than at the time, simply because since then we've had the C4 drama Skins, and she is now evocative of the actress Hannah Murray who played Cassie and on whom I had a bit of a fixation. Upon such whims a film's appeal can rise or fall.

One-time Bond contender Dougray Scott is the code-breaker, he would have been the best Bond of all if you go by Fleming's character imo, but also a predictable choice. He does seem different to his role in Mission Impossible 2, younger, less fleshy.

Another, less likely Bond contender is Jeremy Northam. He is meant to be a posh icy ruthless fellow but I don't know, is he Jewish? It may be drawback in this case, as he doesn't have that persona to suggest the hard-hearted arrogant totally aristo so-and-so,. I suppose I should be PC and say no reason why a Jewish guy shouldn't be an icy upper class type, but you know what I mean. The character is meant to be the grit in the oyster, the pseudo villain in a movie where we never see the Nazis, he is totally on our hero's case though you suspect he may have reason to be. But Northam at heart seems a decent sort just pretending to be nasty; he was in Emma around the same time I think. It spoils the drama a bit, plus he vaguely physically resembles Scott, they should have picked a blond to make for a contrast.

Look at the poster and it's got Scott, Burrows, Northam and Winslet all crowded in on each other.

At the time (and it's a jolt to see this came out in 2001) the film seemed a bit of a dog's breakfast, as if the Bletchley story wasn't enough you had to throw in a romance to make it convoluted but now it is good Sunday afternoon TV fare, which was more a problem when you'd paid to see it at the cinema. It does have a haunting melancholic feel to it.

Saw ANTHROPOID this weekend, the story of two Czech soldiers (played by Jamie Dornan and Cillian Murphy) who are sent from London to Prague to Assassinate Reinhard Heydrich during WWII. Its a very slow burn film in that not much happens until the actual assassination attempt but after that the films pace rapidly picks up and the final thirty minutes of the film is almost non-stop action with a brutal pro-longed gun battle. One of the best shootouts I've seen in a film in a long time.

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier.

All in all I don't think this movie is as bad as the Majority thinks it is. It's not as good as the Genesis Trilogy but it's still packed with good character moments. The jokes aren't that funny but they aren't all terrible. Sybok is an interesting character. I enjoy it.

Don't. They're the two worst Spider Man films. They are worst than watch a dancing elmo Peter Parker. That's something.
