Stallone is definately doing a Rambo 3. he said so at his 60th birthday party. He wanted to do his last film because he will retire shortly!! But he is not doing a Rocky 4
Well, Sly has indeed made a new Rambo film called, John Rambo. Here's the trailer. And be warned! It is not for the squeamish. It is also hilariously, insanely, sublimely ridiculous. )
I cannot believe they used the Prayer of St Francis in such a way. You've got this beautifully worded plea for peace, placed before a sequence where Sly appears to take somebody head off. ) Then he blows people away and starts ripping out their throats. Pretty sure that's not what St Francis meant when he put that together. I can't work out if this is the most reprehensible trailer ever made or one of the most effective. Because I really want to see this film now. Bizarre. It's almost a parody. )

Rambo should stay buried in the 80s IMO.

It looks awesome. I can't wait. The first film was absolutely brilliant. If they can make it work with Rocky they can make it work with Rambo. This is one film I am really looking forward to.
I like the fact that they've upped the level of gore in the film. War films should be extremely gory, because war is extremely gory. The raw cinematography looks really good.
I've long thought that the Rambo films, after the first one, really lost it, just like the Rocky films did. But just like Rocky Balboa, I think this one might hit a really good note.

'The most reprehensible trailer ever made?' I don't know about that, but I can tell by watching it that the producers are not targeting families.
I stopped watching it halfway through as I didn't want the film to be spoiled, but it looks terrific. Although I haven't seen Rambo 1 and 2, I loved the first one, and I am very much looking forward to this one.
"He’s a man way out there in the blue, riding on a smile and a shoeshine. And when they start not smiling back—that’s an earthquake. and then you get yourself a couple of spots on your hat, and you’re finished. Nobody dast blame this man. A salesman is got to dream, boy. It comes with the territory." Death of a Salesman
Couldn't they have been more clever with the title? Something like 'First Blood: Even Bloodier'? Since prequels are such a big thing, when do we see 'John Rambo: The Blood Begins'?

Here's a new trailer, which is sadly not nearly as insane as the first one. It's dropped the 'Prayer of St Francis' and replaced it with mucho machismo. They also seem to have removed the John from the title, and are now calling it simply Rambo.
It looks like a total 80's throwback. To solve a problem, you need a man with muscles and great big guns. Ronald Reagan would surely approve, if he hadn't joined Bonzo in heaven already.
Well Rambo has been released to quite superlative reviews. Everyone on aintitcool loves it, so does imdb. But what's this? It's beaten at the box office by Meet The Spartens, a spoof on 300.
Now, IMDB is a funny thing. They always fix it so be default you're reviewing the Best Comments of a movie, whereas a more accurate appraisal will be Chronoloigcal. After all, any old rubbish can get great reviews for the first few pages. Here is the link to the Best Of comments on Spartens:

I tend to take AICN and IMDB reviews with a grain of salt - many are just a little too fanboyish and gushing in their praise.
Another source is rottentomatoes.com, which aggregates reviews by more mainstream publications into a final score. Here's the link to RT's Rambo page, where the film has gotten a not so healthy 37% rating.
Some folks I chat with on another site love the movie, calling the finale one of the most hardcore action scenes they've ever seen, incorporating among other things bullets that both liquify and explode human flesh.
Well, finally seen it. It is completely nuts. I felt really sorry for Julie Benz. Can somebody give her a role where her leading man is not a homocidal maniac? In Angel, her lover was the good/bad vampire whose idea of a romantic evening was to punch her through a glass doorway. Then in Dexter, she's dating a serial killer. Now in Rambo, her sole purpose is to be threatened and assaulted by Burmese soldiers, giving Sly the excuse he needs to start punching people's heads off. Literally punching people's heads off. Still, at least her next film is a nice romantic comedy. Actually, I'm being sarcastic. It's Punisher: War Zone, in which her leading man will be a total PSYCHO! )

In Angel's defence, Darla is not the ideal girlfriend. :v
Regarding Rambo 4, I enjoyed it. I don't think it's anywhere nearly as good as the first film, but I had a good time. I went in expecting to see a very violent film, and that's what I got.
