Thanks for posting, HB...Perhaps now we'll see The Rhino in the next installment?
*crosses fingers*
Whether Raimi still feels the love for doing this or not, if the revenue is good for 3, another will get off of the ground regardless if he signs or not.

For those looking for a bargain but LOVE Spidey, I went to Barnes & Noble during my lunch break and racked up on the Spiderman graphic novels of the 60s reprints for $4.98 each- regular price $12.95. Each volume contains nine issues drawn by either Ditko or Romita Sr. They're leaving off of shelves rather quickly. This may not be a big deal price-wise for some but if I can cut legally corners I will... ;%
All B&Ns are doing it I'm told.

I already have 'em, and they're a good deal at any price.
I'm not fortunate enough to have all of the originals; my oldest Amazing Spiderman comic is #55. Not being his biggest fan although I do love the character, I just couldn't pass up the bargain.
Now Batman is a horse of a different color and a good deal at ANY price. :v

Has anyone read the Ultimate Spider-man: Deadpool comic book? A little too long for my taste, but it is indeed enjoyable. As for the movie, I'm looking forward to it.

Well...just as I've done for the beloved Dark Knight, I will do the same for Marvel's most treasured commodity: Spider-Man.
Here are a few of the comic artists that I admire for doing the web-slinger justice:
STEVE DITKO
Where would Spidey be without the flawless design courtesy of Mr. Ditko? From talking in circles with many fans at conventions, I've found that there are alot of the younger crowds just not giving the man his due...That's a real shame...
JOHN ROMITA, Sr.
In my opinion, he took Spidey to the next level with a unique style that stands the test of time. He's still one of the very few artists that I'd personally love to meet and yes- he's still a big deal. His son is doing the mag now but he just doesn't hold a candle to dad.
KEITH POLLARD
Old school artist with a heavy Romita influence that made the character a fun read in the late 70s. This particular mag happens to be my absolute favorite Spider-Man story ever. If you've ever read it, you'll know what I mean.
ROSS ANDRU
70s artist who carried the mantle very well on the title. His run left a lasting impression.
MARK BAGLEY
Sort of a next generation artist but his style on Ultimate Spiderman is riveting. He breathed life into the character for me at least. I never cared for Marvel re-booting the formula but his art makes it all worthwhile. Good stories, too. B-)
MIKE DEODATO
His near-realistic approach makes him king of the hill on Spidey thus far. Simply staggering pencils.
As you've noticed, I left out Todd McFarlane because I never really bought into his style when he did Spiderman in the 80s respectfully; I really don't know why but it never suited my tastes. When he let go on his own title SPAWN, in the 90s, I was hooked. Funny how that works...

Well, Raimi for one isn't firmly against doing another Spidey film. Here's a recent article from Starpulse:
Director Sam Raimi Seriously Considers Making 'Spider-Man 4'
"Spider-Man" director Sam Raimi has hinted he and his cast might be back for a fourth and final movie because he still loves the web-slinging character. Unlike his actors, the moviemaker signed on for each of the three "Spider-Man" movies individually, and he's seriously considering a fourth film.
And Raimi feels sure that if he returns, Tobey Maguire and new leading lady Bryce Dallas Howard will too. He tells movie magazine Premiere, "I love Spider-Man and I love working with Kirsten (Dunst), Tobey, James (Franco)...I have to make sure that when I'm done with this picture (Spider-Man 3) I'm really still fascinated with the character (before signing on for another). At this moment I'm fascinated with him."
But Raimi insists he couldn't imagine making a fourth installment if Maguire didn't sign on for it. He adds, "I'd rather not... I couldn't imagine it."
I guess what it comes down to is if Raimi feels like doing it, and Maguire is willing to put on the tights again, they'll do Spidey 4. I hope so--I'd hate to think we'd be saddled with a film directed by someone with a different vision (and who maybe thinks it's time to camp it up a bit) and with an actor who's clearly embarassed to be dressed like a spider. Hmmm. Where have I encountered a movie like that before?
Ooh- very interesting stuff- I'd sort of resigned myself to there only being three. I hope Maguire does stick around, though- he's perfect as Spidey.
As for another director maybe wanting to camp it up- you did notice all of the women screaming directly at camera didn't you?
oh that was a trip down memory lane, I think I actually had that ditko issue when i was a nipper.
Indeed, Agent M. Alot of those old Spiderman comics were classics although I was never fortunate to own an original Ditko Spidey and even if I had one in my childhood, it probably fell victim to one of my mother's cleaning spells if it was happlessly left lying around the house. )
I have a few old Romita Sr. books though.

Here is a sneak peek clip with Toby & Sam summerizing the upcoming film. Some of it is rehash if I recall. If you've seen this already, my apologies...
You need Quicktime installed to see it though:
It's a cool movie poster seriously even if it isn't a very plausible one.
Maybe I'm nitpicking as an artist but not only is the sun setting behind him but it's clearly seen in his lenses as well. Shouldn't the reflection of his hand be in the lens instead?
And since the Empire State Building is now once again the tallest building in the city, what on earth is he hanging onto? The Chrysler Building?
I had these same issues with placing on the CR movie poster but as long as they bring in the big bucks for this, what I think won't matter.

For the briefest of times, you can watch an extended preview of Spider-Man 3 on the NBC website. It's 7 1/2 minutes long and seems to be compiled from a segment of the film, showing Peter and M-J, a very nice and well-acted scene between Peter and Aunt May, and a terrific aerial battle between an non-costumed Pete and Harry Osborn's New Goblin. At the end, if you look fast, you'll also see Venom roaring at the camera. Unfortunately, the preview will be taken down on March 6 at 9:00 P.M. Pacific time (10:00 Mountain, 11:00 Central, 12:00 midnight Eastern, and 6:00 A.M. on March 7 for the Brits), so watch it while you can. BTW, the preview took ages to download for me--far longer than the advertised 5 to 6 minutes--but it's worth the wait. Here it is:

Osborn really looks stupid in his get-up; he should be the Goblin! Oh, what's the use...
Is he going to sweat alot like the Osborn in the comics did? Anyone remember that? )

Got this today from IMDB.com:
Maguire Says Goodbye to Spider-Man?
Tobey Maguire has confirmed the upcoming Spider-man 3 will be the last time he plays the superhero on the big screen. Co-star Kirsten Dunst has also said she feels the third film will be the last in the popular franchise. Maguire says, "To me it seems like this is a natural point for the team to break up because we have a lot of story conclusions that were going along for the main characters for the first two movies and we kind of tie almost everything up for the third movie. "It feels like a trilogy to me and it feels like the end." But moviemaker Sam Raimi isn't so sure that it's all over for the web-slinging movie hero. In a recent interview, the director stated he's seriously considering a fourth film. He explains, "I love Spider-Man and I love working with Kirsten, Tobey, James Franco)... I just have to make sure that when I'm done with Spider-Man 3, I'm really still fascinated with the character. At this moment I'm fascinated with him." I just watched this and had many problems. One, it took forever to download. Two, it didn't flow smoothly. It was almost like a slide show. I thought my system meet all the requirments. I guess I fell short on some of the VRam. Maybe someone will post it up on youtube, and it will flow smoother.
Some people would complain even if you hang them with a new rope
I loved the preview footage myself. And this movie is just looking better and better. Here are some behind-the-scenes and conceptual images of Venom and Sandman, which I hope won't be taken down too soon:

Thanks for the link, HB. I must say that Venom is looking very "Silent Hill" cosmetically.
The actual trailer though leaves me numb as opposed to the previous two. Of course I can say that about X-3's trailer but I ended up pretty much enjoying it anyway.

Somehow I missed that. I guess I was too distracted by the lack of nipples on Spidey's outfit.
Mmm, okay. I'm not sure Raimi can push the camp much further than he does! I think he does a great balancing that and the drama.
