I must admit that I haven't seen it in a long time, so can't actually remember much about it. Same with CR '67. Maybe I need to whack them in the DVD player to update my opinions on them...
I've started a new blog series on my movie blog discussing each Bond picture in order. I decided to do this after receiving the Bond 50 Blu Ray set for Christmas. Here's part one on Dr. No:
First post here, and what a better way to rank-order the films of my favourite franchise!
1. A View To A Kill - Roger Moore is actually my least favourite bond, but this film is obviously very strong and I enjoy it thoroughly. It has some outstanding action sequences and is so exciting from start to finish. Zorin is amazing too.

Agree. AVTAK is a 007 masterpiece. I used to bash it just to sound cool, but then one day I actually watched it and was blown away.

4. The living Daylights- Flemings Bond is Back! Dalton is great
5. On her Majesty Secret Service- Bond gets married is awesome and great plot
6. Casino Royale-A much needed revamp delivers and Craig fits into the tux nicely.
7. Goldeneye- Brosnan is awesome, Tank chase kicks-ass, and the first Bond film I remember watching
8. License to kill- Came before its time but Sanchez is a really good villian and Dalton does it again
9. Dr No-Best Connery movie from the best novel. Connery at his best
10. Quantum of Solace- This underrated movie has the best action scenes in it and is a Bond movie without all of the Bond cliches.
11. Live and Let Die- I need to see this again but I love Solitare, Moore looks young and this is a whole lot of fun
12. The spy who loved me-A little corny but Moore has done it again
13. From Russia with love-Second best Connery movie is a superb spy thriller but its a little slow, still awesome though.
14. You Only Live Twice- A little over the top yes, but enjoyable and without this, No Austin Powers.
15. The Man with the golden gun- This is here for one actor-Christopher Lee.
16 A view to a kill- Enoyable and Walkien is Awesome. Only here for Screaming girl and Mayday
17. Thunderball-Slow in places, no sense of urgency and the water fight scenes are awful but the characters are great and Connery is at his finiest.
18. The world is not enough-Poor script, poor characters and the Bond series feels contrived. Though a few of the action scenes are some of the best in the series and Brosnan is great again.
19. Moonraker- Campy as ever, Moore is still Fun to watch though I hate it how Jaws turns good
20. Tommorow Never Dies- Bond as the Terminator?
21. Goldfinger -Overrated garbage, the best thing is the DB5
22. Diamonds are forever-I have trouble watching this
23. Die another Day-Utter rubbish

1. Thunderball Sean Connery inhabits the role so definitively that all he has to do is walk across a room (count how many times) and he IS James Bond. John Barry provides two soon-to-be-classic melodies (the title song plus "Mr. Kiss-Kiss Bang-Bang") as well as re-using both "007" and the Bond Theme in varied forms. The very tasty Luciana Paluzzi, supported by the sexy Molly Peters. Inspired editing by Peter Hunt.
2. The World Is Not Enough Brosnan's best Bond. He doesn't have to try too hard, and is relaxed in the part. Colourful support from Coltrane, Carlyle, & co. The delectable Sophie Marceau. The most Fleming-like story from Purvis & Wade. David Arnold doesn't top TND but is solid with his slower melodies (check out "Elektra's Theme").
3. Skyfall Finally. After years of waiting. The score could be better, of course, but Craig (and Dench) triumphantly climax their interpretations in a film that actually feels like a James Bond film.
4. Goldfinger You need reasons???
5. You Only Live Twice Throw caution to the winds, blitz the viewer with spectacle and steamroller the wannabes in the dust. Hit them with Ken Adam and John Barry, throw in a few Fleming titbits, and ignore the star's increasing boredom. Let the parodists revel.
6. Octopussy So someone else is making a Bond movie at the same time? Let's show them how it's done.
7. Casino Royale Let's film Fleming's story with suitable updates- it's been done twice before but never the right way. We'll graft on a first half with action scenes as the audience has come to expect and we'll do them superbly. We'll stick faithfully to the original plotline as far as is reasonable and David Arnold will write wonderful music. We'll get a good cast to play Le Chiffre, Vesper, Mathis, Leiter, and M. Then we'll fire Pierce Brosnan, who would have strangled his grandmother to play 007 in this, and bring on a totally unsuitable actor to play Bond... and count the millions as we're proved right.
8.The Spy Who Loved Me So audiences didn't flock to TMWTGG? Throw everything at the screen and hope it sticks. Spend as much as you want. They'll love it. Bits they've seen before? Do them better!

10. OHMSS As with 7 above- film the Fleming story faithfully, get a good supporting cast and the right music, and if the actor playing Bond isn't right it will still work.

I'm currently re-watching all of the Bond films and rating each of them w/ 5 out of 5 being the highest possible. The main points I am rating are 1. PTS (Dr. No does not get discounted for not having one) 2. The Plot (Too Fantastical and it will get dinged) 3. The Action Sequences 4. Bond Girls and Bond Villians. Again this is my personal breakdown of what I find important that is why other things like gadgets, scenery, M, Moneypenny, Q or Leiter are not a part of my weighted system. So far I have only gone through eight of the films in no particular order. As I go through the rest I will update my list. -{

2. The World Is Not Enough Brosnan's best Bond. He doesn't have to try too hard, and is relaxed in the part. Colourful support from Coltrane, Carlyle, & co. The delectable Sophie Marceau. The most Fleming-like story from Purvis & Wade. David Arnold doesn't top TND but is solid with his slower melodies (check out "Elektra's Theme").
3. Skyfall Finally. After years of waiting. The score could be better, of course, but Craig (and Dench) triumphantly climax their interpretations in a film that actually feels like a James Bond film.
4. Goldfinger You need reasons???
5. You Only Live Twice Throw caution to the winds, blitz the viewer with spectacle and steamroller the wannabes in the dust. Hit them with Ken Adam and John Barry, throw in a few Fleming titbits, and ignore the star's increasing boredom. Let the parodists revel.
6. Octopussy So someone else is making a Bond movie at the same time? Let's show them how it's done.
7. Casino Royale Let's film Fleming's story with suitable updates- it's been done twice before but never the right way. We'll graft on a first half with action scenes as the audience has come to expect and we'll do them superbly. We'll stick faithfully to the original plotline as far as is reasonable and David Arnold will write wonderful music. We'll get a good cast to play Le Chiffre, Vesper, Mathis, Leiter, and M. Then we'll fire Pierce Brosnan, who would have strangled his grandmother to play 007 in this, and bring on a totally unsuitable actor to play Bond... and count the millions as we're proved right.
8.The Spy Who Loved Me So audiences didn't flock to TMWTGG? Throw everything at the screen and hope it sticks. Spend as much as you want. They'll love it. Bits they've seen before? Do them better!
9. Dr. No It all began here.
10. OHMSS As with 7 above- film the Fleming story faithfully, get a good supporting cast and the right music, and if the actor playing Bond isn't right it will still work.

When I see the Craig-era film lacking the gun barrel sequence, 007 theme music, gadgets, and other trademarks it does feel like a spin-off.
