Most Overrated Actress (Looks)

Yesterday I stumbled across Hardyboy's thread that saluted Izabella Scorupco and turned into 125 pages of admiration for various females and males actors. So I thought I would start a thread that asks the question, what actor or actress do you believe is overrated looks wise. Who do you see on the screen and wonder what everybody sees in them.

I will start the proceedings by naming Uma Thurman. I find her to be absolutely unattractive. She is very tall and gangly with out an exceptional body and her face is not the least bit attractive. She has no outstanding features and yet I hear people refer to her as sexy, I just don't see it. See the link below and look at her face. Is that a beautiful face? I think not.

Britney Spears... without makeup she looks like something straight out of a horror film

Not necessarily an actress but I'd say Jordan (aka Katie Price/Andre); fake, overhyped and without makeup is nothing more than plain.

I will say Paris Hilton. I honestly have no idea why some people think she's good looking. Part of the reason I don't is that I'm not a big fan of blondes (I prefer brunettes) but really I just find her very plastic looking. I look at her and I wonder how much work she has had done, even if she hasn't had any work done. I also don't think she would look that great without makeup, although with makeup she's still not good-looking !!!

Of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Whilst Umu Thurman isn't from the traditional school of starlet she does have that certain "X factor" which makes her sexy. However, she certainly ain't no Dame Diana Rigg, that's fer sure.

However I'm no good at picking faults with any hollywood actress, ;) they're all much too gorgeous.

I have to second Uma Thurman AND Paris Hilton. They are both very ugly.

I know that this thread is about overrated actresses but I have to say this: I do not believe that I will die seeing as beautiful and sexy a TV actress as Diana Rigg, playing Emma Peel, on 'The Avengers'! I have seen cinematic actresses as beautiful and sexy as Rigg, but I have never seen a TV actress as striking as her.

I agree, more then superficial looks is involved. Take Capucine and Rigg, striking scintillant exquisite blood boiling ravishing and any other adjectives I'm missing ;) Because of their personality and grace, along with stunning looks.

OK. Back on topic, Paris Hilton. I've seen far too many pictures of her then I really need to. ;)

I'm compelled to agree with darenhat! I swear for years that I just don't see the hotness factor with her at all. Grossly overrated...

I know a lot of guys are hot over Scarlett Johansen, who isn't ugly, but who strikes me as plain and a bit pudgy. Maybe it's an age thing, since she's only--what?--20? I have to agree about Julia Roberts--she always has that redness around the phlanges of her nose that make her look like she's got a perpetual cold!

Hehe... I know sheás kind of an easy target, but seriously, I've never seen her smile. You know, that kind of REAL whole-hearted smile, not the one from the "facelifts gone wrong" category.

Yeah agreed on Uma Thurman, Jordan, Julia Roberts, and everyone else mentioned so far.

I'll throw in Drew Barrymore who really is not a stunner by any means, and I'll also throw in Christina Aguilera (maybe there will be some debate over her).

I'm going to add Gwyneth Paltrow to this list. I never found her attractive, most likely never will.

There are quite a few overated lookers nowadays, IMO. Almost every woman I've listed is actractive, indeed, but I don't get the public buzz that goes around Sarah Jessica Parker, for example, or Jennifer Aniston, whose facial features have the makings for a traditional Mediterranean grandmother in a black dress in a couple of decades. What also gets me are appauling comparisons between Cate Blanchet's and Gwyneth Paltrow's elegance to that of Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly, which is nothing short of sacrilege! Where are the hotties today, that were the Ava Gardners and Catherine Denueves of a bygone generation? Anyway, here's my list:

    Uma Thurman
    Julia Roberts
Paris Hilton (though I wouldn't kick her out of bed on a cold night)
    Sarah Jessica Parker
    Naomi Campbell
    Claudia Schiffer
    Heidi Klum
    Gweneth Paltrow
    Beyonce Knowles
    Jennifer Aniston
    Jessica Simpson
    Jessica Alba
    Drew Barrymore
    Hillary Duff
    Jennifer Lopez
    Elle Macpherson
    Kate Moss
    Keira Knightley
    Claudia Schiffer
    Kirsten Dunst
    Sienna Miller
    Cindy Crawford

Agree with everyone on your list, Supes. I wonder if the definition of beauty has changed, I go by the newstand and see the magazines like Maxim and FHM, the women on the cover almost never appeal to me. They tend to look sleazy or rough. Because they have almost no clothes on doesn't make them attractive. (geez I sound like an old geezer) :)

Well, she did publicly provide a video resume of the services she can offer, and a dinner date at Carl's Jr. will be $ well spent, if just for the spectacle :D

I'll gladly take the label of geezer if it means preserving and upholding the standards of beauty!

Oh, there are many I can think of:

Britney Spears (though, I don't consider her an actress)
    Cristina Aguilera (dito)
    Katie Price (dito!!)
    Paris Hilton (dito)
    Gwyneth Paltrow
    Sharon Stone
    Demi Moore
    Drew Barrymore
    Kirsten Dunst
    Lindsay Lohan
    Reese Witherspoon
    Madonna

and by far on the top of the list

    Anne Nicole Smith

Since a Katie was mentioned, I forgot to list Katie Holmes. I should have also included Britney Spears! On Lindsey Lohan, I kind of agree with others about her but lament what could have been. When I first saw her on The Parent Trap, playing twins and one of which was British, I thought she would have grown into a delicate looking English Rose, kind of how like Rosamund Pike is like. Instead, Lohan grew up into an obnoxious teen queen, though she does have a bit of an Ann Margaret thing going for her. If only she'd lay off the thick make-up and hydrogen peroxide...

Good to see Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow and Sarah Jessica Parker on this list. I never really got it about any of them. I thought, as a female, I was missing something. Obviously not ;)

Maybe someone can enlighten me were Nicole Kidman Stands in this debate because I have never got it about her either ....

( or Rene Zellweger though I adore her as an actress.)

I agree with Lady Rose that Nicole Kidman should be included onto the "overrated looks" list. I have never found her physically attractive, nor mentally or socially attractive for that matter either.
Someone else I would also like to include onto the list is Helena Bonham Carter. Although I think she is a terrific actress, and from what I've heard, a really nice person too, I've just never found her physically attractive. Luckily for me, I'm not the kind of guy who will judge someone purely based on their looks. :)

But Supes, how can you put Katie Holmes into this category? I love her!

Gotta go with Night on this one. Rene Zellweger, along with Kirsten Dunst have to be the most unattractive top notch actresses in the entertainment industry.

Kidman, IMO, is hot and what's left of her Aussie accent goes a long way with me in my book.

Night, you're on your own with Holmes...8-)Unlike Cruise, she too "teenagery" for me. For you of course, I understand.;)
