Hmmmm...rated E i hope. They might have trouble making that game rated M. I bought the guide to the new tomb raider game. I usually buy the guid without the game. Anybody got any suggestions about which guide to get???
Generally speaking, I avoid guides unless I'm really stumped. When I have a guide, I'm always too tempted to sneak a peek at what comes next in the game and it usually reduces the game to a walkthru for me. Besides, you can usually find the same information for free on the internet.

Why on earth would you buy the guide but not the game? I never buy guides, since you can find perfectly good walkthroughs online if you are stumped.

Well, I usually only buy the guides that are made by piggyback because they are really good quality. However, I rarely buy the guides to any of the games that I own. Nonetheless, I own quite a few guides to games that I don't own.

The power of the internet has taken the value out of purchasing guides. I don't think that there's any real value collecting them; not sure but you never know.
Do you happen to have one for the game Fatal Frame? I'm stumped on something...

Sorry, but I don't.
thats an intereting way of looking at it though. they will be the things I collect. a-ha...a new excuse to go out and buy them yayyyy... but anyways, I really like my guides...alot..
Today, I sold my Xbox. It marked the passing of an era - and now I am lost. £66 I got for it (with 12 games). A feeble amount of money considering what all that would have cost originally, but I just didn't play it anymore. Like many others, I see the price tag of the Xbox 360 as a massive turn-off. Are there any in here who weren't sure about buying the machine who could tell me whether its worth parting with over £300? Argh! The sight of that figure leaves me shaking in fear

I always wanted it, but let me tell you I've been pleasantly surprised by just how awesome it is. But listen to me and listen well: if you buy a 360, you MUST have Xbox Live. It makes it worthwhile. Xbox Live Arcade is addictive, and you can download demos for almost every game to see if you like it before buying!

Xbox live is something I never experienced, and with my brother at university (although he's not been into games anyway), I can never really enjoy multiplayer. I like the 'try before you buy' sound of those demo's, if I ever do get an XB360, I will be sure to invest (even further ) in XBOX LIVE.

It is worth it. You can actually have a chat with someone across the globe while watching a movie. I haven't actually done this yet, but if I do I'll be sure to tell you all about it.

I've had an Xbox360 since last December and could not be happier with it (I also own the original Xbox). There are a lot of games for the console that are a lot of fun to play and clearly superior to other consoles in terms of graphics power. That said, there are a few things you should be aware of:
1. In order to really see what a 360 can do, you really need to have a hi-def TV. While 360 games look great on a standard definition TV, the jump to hi def (widescreen, higher resolutions, more colors) really makes the games stand out.
2. Most 360 games will be more expensive than Xbox games; generally $10 more here in the states, I'm not sure how that translates into pounds.
3. Some of the first batch of 360 games are ports of existing games and as such, the only real added feature is the bump in resolution (which you can only really see if you have a hi-def TV).
4. The system has been a runaway success in the US and Europe so you shouldn't worry about being able to find games for it.
5. Xbox Live comes in two flavors: Silver, which is free and still allows you to download demos and other content, and Gold which lets you play online.
As to standout games:
Project Gotham Racing 3 is a standout driving game; tons of cars, meticulous physics, gorgeous photo realistic graphics, smooth online play.
Elder Scrolls: Oblivion is an incredibly deep roleplaying adventure which will easily take around 200 hours to find everything.
Kameo is a beautiful Zelda like action adventure game that really shows the power of the 360 (there are some levels with literally hundreds of characters on screen all fighting at the same time).
Call of Duty 2 is a very immersive first WWII person shooter with amazing graphics, well scripted levels, and very intelligent soldiers that fight alongside you. A very cinematic experience.
So to sum up, the 360 is a great system but it will be somewhat more expensive to own than your old Xbox and at some point you'll want a hi-def TV if you really want to see what it can do. There are some real standouts in the initial batch of games but also a lot of ports playing in a higher resolution.
Hope that helps.

Rogue, you have to PM me and remind me of your gamertag, I'm sure I have it, but I don't know which one you are!

Do it Rogue...Condemned is waiting for you.
Not to mention that Silent Hill 5 is currently being designed for this particular console for my playing enjoyment as well.

Is it? I know that Resident Evil 5 is, but I hadn't heard anything about SH5.

Oh yes. There's no way that the next installment won't debut on this next-gen console. I read on certain sites that it's a given.
I'm already excited and I don't even own one yet.

They're really easy to find now. They had about twn at Circuit city, and at Toys R Us I noticed a HUGE pile of both Platinums and Cores.

A bit more rare down here, Night. If you're lucky, there might be one here and there. I saw a guy in Walmart being escorted with his to the cash register by 2 employees...it was the only model shipped to that store I was told...
They had bookoos of regular Xboxes.

Bought PGR3 today. I love it! I can't wait until I have enough for an Aston DBR9...

Great game isn't it. Once you get a few races under your belt we'll have to duel online ( unranked and with Lotus Esprits of course )
Just as an FYI you can download the Aston Martin Vantage off the marketplace for free (or get a bunch of cars for 400 points).

You know, I didn't even buy the Lotus. If it was the original I would've, but it wasn't. I opted for the cheaper and better Ariel Atom. Then when I got the cash I bought the Carbon Fiber Dodge Viper.

I also found the Ultima GTR was a good, fast drivable car; just the thing for racking up wins and money on the easy levels.
I played the game to death and finally bought all the cars available (of course, Microsoft now is releasing new car packs online). It's also a lot of fun just walking around the virtual garages and staring inside the windows at the cars' ultradetailed cockpits.

I assume with time you get more garages- what is the coolest one like?
I won't spoil it for you, but the garages get very expansive and the later ones allow you to store up to 10 cars each. Also, the environments are very different (desert, courtyards, etc.). Some even have elevated sections for you to walk up to so you can better admire your collection.

You're kidding right? Isn't it much easier and plausible to just collect comics...or insects?
