I've sort of been stuck on FNR3 lately in career mode because there's one guy who seems to have my number. I've developed a friggin' callous on my thumb trying to get the better of him. Always a knockout by him.

TonyDP, I want your final grade on CONDEMNED without spoiling it for me. Is it as tense as Silent Hill?
Well Rogue, bear in mind two things: I never played any of the Silent Hill games and I generally don't do survival horror games.
The game is played in the first person ala Doom but your weapons consist mostly of blunt objects (pipes, 2x4's, etc.) as well as the occasional firearm and your taser (yes, a taser). You can also perform bare-handed finishing moves such as a head butt (a first in video games, I think )
The gameplay is very creepy and there were a lot of moments in the game where I was very unsettled and wanted to get the hell out of there ASAP. In particular the department store level really creeped me out (you'll know it when you get to it). Each level is very different (derelict buildings, an abandoned store, railway stations, remote farms, etc.)
The pace of the game is somewhat slow; but I think that's par for the course for this genre. It's also very linear; you always clearly know where to go next and what to do.
The presentation is great; the graphics are very next gen and the monsters and zombies you fight very much get "in your face" (and I mean that literally).
I thought the storyline was very good and I liked the way you could use forensics tools to figure out what to do next and where to go next. However, the ending of the game (and I'm talking about the very last thing you see before it all fades to black) was kind of a letdown, but also sets things up for a sequel.
The replay value is somewhat limited; there are special items (dead birds and propaganda) that can be found to unlock more achievements. But once I finished the game, I really didn't want to go back and play it again.
Having said all that, I'd give Condemned a good solid 7.5 out of 10. Also, as an FYI, once you get your 360, you can download a level of the game from Xbox Live and try it out. That should give you a good taste of the game.
I'm confused about Condemned. Are you fighting zombies or homeless guys??
Yes to both! And sometimes at the same time ) ) Something is happening to the population of the city you're in and it's turning people into monsters. The indigent population seem to be the first affected.
As to a basic plot, you play a cop who's been framed for murder (the real killer has used your gun to kill some people) and you have to find him as well as the source of all the civil unrest. It all ties together and by the end of the game you find out why everybody is going crazy.
I'm just waiting to get my hands on Oblivion and Fight Night Round 3. My uncle is supposed to buy them for me, but he's been having trouble finding them at Costco, which is where he goes.
I finished the main quest in Oblivion over the weekend (although there are still dozens of sidequests I haven't done yet).
In short, it was a phenomenal experience (as far as videogames go). The graphics, sound, and voice acting were all top notch (Sean Bean voices one of the main characters). The story was very engrossing. And the game was very open ended; you could focus entirely on the main quest, do the side quests only and leave the main quest for later, or go back and forth.
When you first start playing the game, the sheer size of the world can be very daunting but after a few hours, you start to become familiar with the various towns and cities, the locations of the shops, and your controls and things get much better.
There is just so much to do. You can become a warrior, mage, thief, or assasin (or mix up your skills). You can complete quests to master each discipline. It goes on and on and on. Be warned though, you'll be plunking a lot of hours into this thing; it can very easily take over all your free time if you really get into it.

Remember, that's coming from a guy who doesn't go for these types of games; still I played it all the way to the end. Also, whenever somebody asks me to rate something, I always tend to go a little conservative.
Based on what I know of your preferences, I think you'll really enjoy it.

I know a survival horror game is worth my money when I get punked out in the midst of playing it and cut off the console. ;%
That's a good game to me.

I wish that I could find the soundtrack to MIDNIGHT CLUB 2. I regret trading that puppy in.
Try PsiOps if you get the chance, 0064. It has a nice blend of what you fancy most. I love it.

Midnight Club 2 was, IMO, much more fun and less repetitive than MC3. The cities were also more fun, I think, and I liked the stylized graphics more in MC2.

I recently picked up MC3: Dub Edition Remix for the Xbox (it's supposed to have more cars, options, and another city). I only played the first couple of levels but it looked nice and controlled quite well. I'll be curious how it plays once I get into some more difficult races and faster cars.

As for MC3, the other reason I got it was because one of the cars in the game is a Chrysler 300 ( which just happens to be my car ). Since I can't pimp it out in real life, I'll have to settle for the game.
I'll let you know how I like the game but it might not be for a little while; I have some new dungeons I have to clear out in Oblivion.

My wife has been nagging me for that model for almost 2 years now. ) Good taste, T.

And why would you? It's pimped up right off of the assembly line.
Spectre and I have bought Chryslers for years. A word of advice if you ever do take the plunge: get the all wheel drive version. We have the rear wheel drive and even with the advanced stability control things can still get a little slippery when it snows. And don't get the base model; the 2.7 liter engine just doesn't have enough kick to really push the car. Go with the Touring or Limited (or better yet the Hemi in the 300c :v)
Just finished downloading the demo to TRL...it is alot of fun. Lara is like a monkey....she can do some cool things.
I played the full game on my 360. It was a ton of fun but a little on the short side. The visuals were top notch and the control is 100% improved over previous Tomb Raider games. This is the first TR game I enjoyed from start to finish.
In case anybody is interested, Sony revealed pricing for their PS3 at E3. The unit will come in two flavors: a "core model" for $500 and a premium model for $600.
The differences between the two are the size of the hard drive (20gb vs. 60gb) and the core model will not support wi-fi connections or HDMI (the all digital standard for connecting components to your TV). Also, you can use flash memory cards on the premium model to save and transfer data but you cannot do any of this on the core model.
Overall, I think the prices are somewhat steep for a game machine. The limitations of the core model are pretty severe for a videophile. The absence of HDMI most likely means you won't be able to watch hi-def movies and the absence of wi-fi means you won't be able to connect it to your home network wirelessly. Since there is no support for flash memory cards there does not appear to be an easy way to transfer games and other info from one console to another. Conversely, paying $600 for the premium is a hard sell given Sony's spotty track record on hardware reliability.
Looks like I'll be passing on the PS3. Sony's cost of entry is simply too high and I remain unconvinced they'll have a lot of quality software at launch.

Yes, I've heard that it is a bit on the short side, but it is my type of game...long levels and a shooter/puzzle game with justthe right amoount of mysticism. Nonetheless, I already own the guide and I have been playing the demo alot...

I just saw this- WHOA! WAY too much! Especially because, if I bought the PS3, it would be BECAUSE of it's HDMI output possiblity.
I MAY however end up buying the Wii. Was the price announced?
Also, did anyone see the Halo 3 trailer? I only saw a second of it, so I'll wait to see the whole thing before I pass judgement.
Midnight Club 2 was, IMO, much more fun and less repetitive than MC3. The cities were also more fun, I think, and I liked the stylized graphics more in MC2.
I don't think the Wii price has been officially announced but I hear rumors that it will be $249. Given that it looks to be about as powerful as the current Xbox, doesn't support hi-def, and has that wonky controller setup (I'm still not convinced) I think even that modest pricepoint is a little too high.
I haven't tried to download the Halo 3 trailer yet because I know all the diehards will be clogging the bandwidth for a while. I'll wait a few days and then try to download it.
As for the PS3, yeah I think Sony has miscalculated. No matter what it can or cannot do, most people will view it as a games machine first and foremost. And I can't see a lot of parents or casual games plunking down 500-600 dollars (plus more for the games) for it when you can get a loaded 360 for 100 less (maybe more if Microsoft drops the price).
Ahhhhh...the Halo 3 trailer looks cool, though I must say I;mnot terribly impressed...but what really caught my eye was the MGS4 trailer...looks really intense...
