I'm hoping the Wii is even less than that. It supposedly is more powerful than the Xbox 1.0, but really, I want it because it looks like it can offer some pretty exciting experiences. And if I want awesome graphics and sound, I'll play my 360.
After just viewing the HALO 3 trailer, it makes me feel proud that I'm an Xbox owner...
...and after reading an earlier post here about the astronomical price of the PS3, Christmas may not be so merry for Sony...
My thoughts exactly about the Sony topic...makes me angry that they can sell a product just on the name....
I actually wasn't impressed by the Halo 3 trailer...just looked middle of the road to me.

The graphics look amazing, man. Of course, there was nothing going on, like combat, so it wasn't that exciting, but I'm just glad to see the assault rifle back.

Sony thinks they can sell it; it remains to be seen if people will bite at that price. The PSP was supposed to be a "can't miss" piece of hardware too. It sold well, but nowhere near what Sony was hoping for and their UMD movie format was a pathetic failure. The jury is still very much out on PS3.
As for the Halo 3 trailer, I haven't seen it yet but from what I've read it's more about the story and what has happened since Halo 2. It's not really representative of any gameplay (although it does allegedly use the game engine). Besides, I think it will be a long while before we see the game; all signs point to it being a simultaneous release with the Halo movie; that puts it into mid 2007 at the earliest.
I think that the PS3 will be the biggest flop in history of video games...as for the Halo 3 trailer, TonyDP makes a good point when he says that there wasn't much to go on.

There doesn't have to be much to go on...it's Halo. Its rep should go without saying... The anticipation of a sequel leaves me excited that in the slimmest of chances, Microsoft might actually outdo themselves once again on this franchise and make us all happy...maybe even pull a few more Xbox disciples into the fold... since it looks like Sony is too pompous to keep them...

If Halo 3 isn't much different from Halo 2 apart from being able to fly the Pelican, I will be a happy camper. PLEASE, BUNGIE!!!!

Your tryin real hard to make me think the XBox is best... I don't really buy games based on there names. And quite frankly, I don't see what is so great about Halo. If osmeone could explain that to me it would be great.

What do you buy games absed on? Their score? Well, my friend, let me remind you of how higly both Halo games have scored in every single publication.
You want to know what is great about Halo? The multiplayer. It is something that you can play FOREVER. It is that fun.

The same could be said of that...new guy in the tux. What's the big deal about him? At least I've experienced Halo...I don't know what that other guy is going to do in the..uh, tux.
You haven't experienced videogames until you indulge in Halo, 0064.

In my opinion, Halo 1 is MUCH better than Halo 2. That includes single and multiplayer. That may just be because I'm so much better at multiplayer in Halo 1 then I am in Halo 2, but oh well.

If what holds true about the PS3, I just can't see many well-to-do families, at the least, throwing that much money at a game console. It's a house payment for most...and it's criminal.

OK kids, settle down or you all get sent to bed; and no video games for a week.
I finally got to download the Halo3 trailer and watched it in hi-def on the 360. While nothing much happens in the trailer, I was still very impressed because Bungie is saying that the trailer was created with the same tools being used to create the game. In other words the Halo3 engine is powering the trailer. As such, the level of detail was amazing and the view distance phenomenal. The reflections on all the reflective surfaces (like Master Chief's visor) and various visual effects were all a sight to behold. So, if the trailer was indeed rendered using the Halo3 engine, we haven't even begun to see what the 360 is capable of and we're all in for a treat.
As to which game is better, from a single player experience Halo2 was more visually and technically impressive, but I always thought the first Halo was a more well rounded and fun game. The storyline was more well constructed with a definite beginning, middle and end, and the levels had a better flow to them. I thought the second game was a little disjointed as you kept switching between Master Chief and the Arbiter. The first game also had a much longer single player campaign.
0064, the original Halo was innovative in a number of ways. It had levels that seamlessly went from indoors to outdoors. You could switch between fighting on foot and in vehicles on the fly. Your teammates actually showed intelligence as they fought with you. The gameplay was really open ended in that you could reach the end of each level in a number of ways, be it on foot or stealing a vehicle and flying part of the way. The physics of the vehicles was very realistic. So, in terms of gameplay, graphics, AI and physics, Halo had a number of notable firsts.
One of the coolest videogame experiences I ever had was in Halo. In order to escape from an enemy ship near the end of the game, I jumped off a balcony onto a damaged dropship, picked off a few Covenant forces, hopped into a one man ship, and took off as the remaining aliens uselessly fired at my backside. James Bond could not have hoped to do better and no other game every gave me a visceral rush like that before or since.
The tagline "Combat Evolved" was much more than just a gimmick.

Hey, if I get any system it will be an XBox 360. PS3 is two expensive and the Wii is not my type of gaming system. For now though, I'm relegated to computer games...
BTW, great explanation TonyDP. That had me thinkin...
EDIT:
AHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Mercenaries 2 is coming. YAYAYAYAYAYAYYAYAYAYA!!!!! I am soooo excited. Looks so far like it is only coming for PS3 so far but maybe XBox 360 as well.....looks great....
From working in a gaming store, I can advise to not get a 360, they're the most bug infested pieces of trash ever inflicted upon the community. Most people are waiting for the PS3, which will not only have a wider library than the Xbox, but also better graphics, faster loading times, and tilt sensitive controllers.
NightshooterIn bed with SolitairePosts: 2,917MI6 Agent
I've never had any problems with mine, and my friend who has one hasn't either. I've never heard a real person complain, only stories in magazines about them. Also- how do you know it will have faster loading times? It won't, because it has to read off of 7 cores as opposed to 3. The tilt sensitive controller is a gimmick that won't be fully utilize and will be done much better by Nintendo for a cheaper price. The graphics so far don't seem very impressive, except for MGS4 which look great, but so does Gears of War, Halo 3, Project Gotham Racing 3, etc. Also, how do you know it will have a wider library than the Xbox 360? So far, all of the great developers that were PS2 only have moved onto Xbox 360 as well, like the Final Fantasy guys and Capcom. Xbox 360 will also get GTA 4 on the first day it comes out, and has Halo 3. It also has Too Human. What does PS3 have? Killzone? Halo 3 will be much better. Socom? Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter is already out and is amazing. God of War? Too Human may be even better. Xbox has a head start on an amazing online service. The Xbox 360 is cheaper than the PS3. What more can I say?
Well something based on fact rather than opinion would be a good start. In two short weeks I've had 7 Xbox 360's returned because either the fan cut out, the lasers weren't reading the discs, or some other general fault was found with them. As for loading times, all demos and games shown at the E3 presentation a day or two ago had loading times of one or two seconds. If you'd like an example, check out the Grand Turisimo display.
The controller has been in testing phase for about a year now, so I doubt that you could honsetly call it a 'cheap gimmick. If you're after cheap gimmicks, you could always see the ludicrous amount of money that Microsoft has paid to australian radio stations to promote it's new console, while attempting to take potshots at Sony.
As far as libraries go, you only have to check out the E3 site to see Sony clearly has the most games in development for its consoles (PS2, PS3 and PSP), as well as the entire back catalogue of PS1 and PS2 games.
I'll agree that Microsoft has a good head start on the online service, but Sony has committed to making a free one that will, I believe, rival Microsoft's by early 2007. This is Sony we're talking about - if they want to dominate a section of the market, they can through innovation, as opposed to simply throwing cash at it.
The PS3 will, yes, be around $750 for the premium console, but this is around the same price as the PS2 was when it launched, and look at it's success. There's also the inclusion of the blu-ray reader, which in itself is worth the pricetag when you see what prices standalone blu ray players will be selling for.
In short, yes, PS3 will dominate this generation, just as it has dominated the last two. And if you don't believe that, check out the sales charts, where PS2 games still outsell Xbox and Xbox360 games, and take up the majority of the top ten spaces.

As for MGS4, I don't like Snake being old. The graphics look pretty good, though. But then again, so do the Halo 3 graphics.

I thought the PS2 was around 600, if not a bit higher when it was released.
Nope, did a bit of research and found out that it cost $300 at realease, about half of what we originally thought...
