Now all ya need is Saints Row and you are one...that game looks interesting...
No thanks. I tried the demo and found it to be in really bad taste. The profanity was so prevalent and over the top (literally every other word had four letters) that it became ridiculous. One of the first missions had you recruiting would be prostitutes for a would be pimp. That's when I stopped the demo and deleted it from my 360.
I'm not a prude by any stretch of the imagination and I know it's just a game but I can do without that kind of tasteless garbage. Besides it's all been done before in the GTA games. I didn't see the appeal then and I don't see it now.
You can have a massive, free-roaming world without having to wallow in the gutter. Try Oblivion. Great gameplay, varied missions, and not a hint of bad taste in sight.

Getting back to Saints Row for a second, somebody on another forum put it best (and I'm paraphrasing here): Imagine if a bunch of rich white boys who've never had a girlfriend or punched anyone in their lives try to make a game about urban street gangs. You'll end up with something like this.

HAHA YOu missed my point tony.. ) I was saying you needed to live in the real place like that and then you could be one...as for the game...i watched a vid of the demo and there were some seird parts...as for Just Cause, there's an open ended game with endless possibilities...I just hope my computer can run it. as for Oblivion I might eventually get it when it is cheaper, but first I want to get FarCry...

Sorry to say that I really enjoyed the Saints Row demo. I hate the whole urban lifestyle thing, but I love the open world game. The physics and graphics are so much better than in GTA.

You should have gone to my high school. ) I'm not familiar with Just Cause (I don't do PC gaming anymore so unless it's coming out for the 360 it doesn't get much attention from me) but Oblivion has been a blast. Just a word of warning if you pick it up. The world is so massive and there are so many things to do that you almost certainly will feel overwhelmed at first. Stick with it and see a few sidequests through to the end to build experience and get some money. After a few hours and a few dungeons, you'll be hooked.

I think Rogue and I are going to have to stage an intervention and clean you up. As I said before, the game is technically impressive, but it's just not my thing.
BTW, I tried the Dead Rising demo. It's basically the Dawn of the Dead movie in videogame form (zombies overrun a mall and your character is stuck in the middle of it). Very entertaining as nearly everything can be picked up and used as a weapon and there are literally hundreds of ways to kill the zombies (the sickle is particularly nasty). While the gameplay in the demo was very limited, I've read that the actual game has a more varied selection of missions. On the minus side, I hear the game save system is very poorly implemented and the zombies constantly respawn if you exit and then enter an area.

I actually really would like to get Dead Rising, as I found the demo a hoot and the reviews are very positive.
As for Just Cause, I believe it is also coming out for the 360.

The two things that worry me about Dead Rising are that it's one of those games where you have a set time limit to get certain tasks done. I HATE games that increase the difficulty by imposing an artificial time limit. Also, it has what is to me the bane of videogames: Escort Missions. Invariably in games like this, the people you're trying to escort to safety are nitwits who do everything possible to get themselves killed. I'll have to read up a little more on these two issues as they both seriously bug me.
Either way, I'll look into another game when I finish Prey (hopefully this weekend). I'm abut 3 or 4 levels from the end. It's been a fun game but it is by no means a keeper; I'll definitely be trading it in for credit towards the next purchase.

That is too bad about Prey. When I played the demo, after the stellar intro scene, the gameplay was just repetitive. I could see that there could be fun, but it didn't seem that great of a game.
I can't wait for Test Drive U and Lego Star Wars 2. Both look awesome. I'm into free roam games, and I want to pick up Saints Row as well. Free roam is where it is at, and all these games, and dead rising, have it.
I bought FarCry for $13 the other game and I had to put the game down because I was SCARED....those little monkey men freak me out!!!

Here's something in Just Cause that I don't really like: it appears that you can jump through helicopter blades and not get hurt. Whaa??? I know it isn't a realistic game, but come on!

Sure thing Night...I dunno, I kinda like the unrealisness of this game...Demo on the 24th...can't wait!!!

I like the ridiculous stunts angle, too, but when you can jump through helicopter blades that would slice even 007 in pieces, it just gets too unrealistic for me. Excited for the demo, though!
Ok, if you own an Xbox 360 and you have an Xbox Live account (silver or gold) you'll be able to get a Live-enabled Texas Hold'em Poker game for free during a special 48 hour window next week (afterwards the game will cost 800 MS points or $10). Here's a link for more info; all would be James Bonds (or LeChiffres) should check it out:
Especially for RogueAgent, here's an intriguing looking car from the forthcoming Test Drive Unlimited game that you may find interesting (hint: it's green!)
Not sure if you're referring to the poker game or Test Drive but either way, I'm glad you're excited.
BTW, I finally finished Prey's single player campaign. There were some interesting game twists (spirit mode was fun and being able to jumble gravity made for some unique gameplay). The final boss was tedious but not particularly hard. The ending was well done and, as with all these games, sets things up for a sequel. Good game but I see zero reason to replay or keep it. It'll probably go back to EBGames for some store credit. I'd recommend it as a rental or wait for a significant price drop before buying.

I've dusted off my copy of KOTOR II today. I never finished it the first time, and I've been having a blast the second time around, being a light/neutral Jedi.

I absolutely loved the KOTOR games; I played both thru twice to experience the light and dark side endings. How does it look when played thru the 360?
Don't know if you've reached it yet but there's a section of KOTOR II where you singlehandedly have to take on about 50 aliens with only your lightsaber and force abilities; that was fun. KOTOR II's ending was a little weak compared to part one but still well done.
I'm amazed Lucasarts / Bioware haven't announced a 360 version yet as both of the original Xbox games sold like hotcakes.

I haven't even gotten a lightsaber yet. I just got on Nar Shadaa, my first non-Telos planet.
I'm having a lot of framerate problems, which I had on my original Xbox but I just assumed it was because my Xbox disc reader was damaged, which it was. When I played KOTOR 2 on my first Xbox, it froze all the time as well, also due to the disc reader. That hasn't been a problem on the 360, but the slowdown has. And they didn't even optimize it to widescreen!
KOTOR II did have some stutters but it didn't seem to be as bad as what you're experiencing; probably a lazy port and that's too bad as it's a great game.
As for widescreen support, sadly none of the 4:3 Xbox games have been optimized to widescreen when being made BC. Your only option there is to use your TV's controls to stretch the image if you have that capability.

I do, but I think the distorted image isn't worth it.
Well, here is a treat from Sierra Designs...Rogue might like it....turns out that the F.E.A.R. Combat Multiplayer is free for everyone...I think this is a great way to give back to the fans of this game....YAY!!!
Nightshooter, don't forget to download the Texas Hold'em game from Xbox Live Arcade. It's free on August 23 and 24. I just DL'd and played a few hands online. Quite fun, especially since it's free.

Thanks for the reminder, Tony. I'm gonna go do that right now. I hope it is fun, we can play and reenact our own Casino Royale. :007)
