There's a review of Test Drive Unlimited up at IGN. They give it an 8/10. Overall a good game hampered by a lack of polish and some ugly character models and effects. Pretty much what I expected for a $40 game. Have a look...

I bought Test Drive yesterday, and I've been having a blast. I haven't even gotten knee deep into the multiplayer aspect, either. Either way the graphics are pretty nice, the physics are better than they were in the demos, the car selection is pretty awesome, and it is just fun. Although a word of warning, you have to drive to all of the car dealerships before they allow you to visit the bike dealerships. This means at least an hour of cross country driving. It is worth it though, the bikes are awesome. And as long as you have some good music to listen to, it is quite relaxing.

Hey Night, why is it I feel a 15 year old guy has more money than me. )
Everytime I turn around your buying something. Want to share your wealth secrets with an old guy humping his butt to get by.

Actually, I think he hustles his money from gullible people who are foolish enough to play against him online. Not that I've ever fallen for his scam or anything ... 8-)

It has nothing to do with me, it's my folks that make the money. I'm quite thankful for it, it allows me to be the greedy ******* that I am. I've no idea what I'm going to do when I move out... ?:)
That having been said, I'm so getting Lego Star Wars II... I loved the first.
Barry, when're you getting your 360? After all, you're the one who started the thread.
Tony, I wish you were right, but there are people a lot better at things than I am, unfortunately.
And Test Drive Unlimited, while new, is only $40! Which is still a lot, but not as much when you realize that most games are $60.
Hey Night, I just picked up TDU today; I haven't tried it yet but there's something in there about referring the game to a friend and getting a couple of free cars. If you want to get the cars, feel free to refer me; I'll be trying it later today or tonight.

Thanks, I didn't know about that! I'll go and look it up, thanks man!
The Godfather for the Xbox360 is coming out next week. Here's a preview courtesy of IGN. Sounds like a lot of fun and the visuals and gameplay appear to have been spruced up significantly. I can tell my wallet is going to take a big hit this fall.
I signed up for XBOX Live yesterday. I'm doing silver membership right now. I was given a free one month gold membership, but I'm going to let that expire in a month and stick with the silver. I'm not big into multiplayer. I'm just going to use Live to download demos and trailers. I downloaded a demo of Dead Rising. It's an intersting game. It's kind of funny how many different weapons the player can use: bowling balls, coat hangers, trash cans, jewelry, kids' toys, chairs, cash registars, benches, etc. I might get the game one day. I have read that the game has been giving some people problems, freezes and system crashes. I'm also looking forward to The Godfather for the 360 next week. I havn't played it on the older consoles. It's more than a graphical upgrade. EA added more gameplay. More missions, more things to do. Splinter Cell: Double Agent comes out in October. I havn't seen a lot about the game. I'll still get it because I really like the other games in the series.
I'm looking forward to Splinter Cell: Double Agent and The Godfather as well. Like you, I avoided playing the latter on the other consoles to maximize my enjoyment of the game. Just remember: always keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. (that movie has a million great lines).
I think you'll enjoy your Silver XBL Account. If nothing else, you'll be able to try most games before having to buy and that'll save you from getting burned with bad games. And best of all, it's free.

YOu should see my list....it keeps growing...all of the following on PC...
BF: 2142
Crysis
Battlestations: Midway
Just Cause
Faces of War
Prey
Quake 4
Half Life 2: Platinum as well as Episode 2
Splinter Cell: Double Agent
Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion
Yeah...well, they're all my kind of games....and they all are fun to me so, I think that I will buy most, if not all, of the games.
School....too much work in the Junior Year...I won't be aorund much as videogames take up the rest of my life...workin' on seargant in BF2 and playin' the FarCry campaign. However, I really like talkin games with you guys, so ill try to drop in on occasion...
I've also downloaded a few patches as well as some more maps and mods for BF2 and as soon as I finish the one im downloading now (Hard Justice v1.2) I hope to play them....they all look like alot of fun...too bad you system guys can't unlock these little gifts all of the time...
A review of Just Cause for the 360 is up at IGN; they gave it a 6.8/10, although the UK arm of IGN rated it much more favorably. To summarize: fun but short main quest, numerous but often boring side missions, disappointing vehicle sections, inconsistent graphics (some stuff looks great, some meh) and quite a few bugs. Have a read for the full review.
There's also a review of The Godfather for the 360. It's generally favorable but in the end, it's basically the Xbox version with upgraded graphics and a few new gameplay twists.
Of the two, I'm more inclined to try out The Godfather. I've always been intrigued by the GTA sandbox style games but have been really turned off by the bad taste displayed in a lot of those titles. With Godfather, at least I won't have to worry about dealing with gaudy pimps, vulgar language for the sake of vulgar language, or all that inane rap music crap.

I need Just Cause... why, you ask? Just 'cause. HAAHAHAHAHAHA. I know I'm not the first one to make that joke, so don't blame me for it.
I might buy Just Cause as well just because I play the demo as a relaxation game...I can go anywhere and do anythig I want and that really help me unrap after school or after a tough game of BF2. either way, I really look forward to its release (Sep 26???) and I hope to get it for christmas as Im savin' for BF2142....now thats a game that will get a great rating.... {[]

BF 2142 looks really stupid to me. Why on earth do they need to make ANOTHER futuristic run of the mill shooter?
Jealousy.... nah, its not just another run of the line shooter, it is a massive multiplayer shooter that allows for stunts and blunders and alot of fun. I think that the BF games are really great and the fact that they are lacking a campaign is sad, but by no means detrimental...why do these games look boring to you???
NightshooterIn bed with SolitairePosts: 2,917MI6 Agent
I really like BF MC, I own it for 360, but it annoys me that they feel the need to put it into futuristic times when the whole fun was creating realistic battles with large teams and real vehicles. Why put it in space in the future?
Oh well, we have different tastes...however, i like how you agreed with me about the halo thing...
NightshooterIn bed with SolitairePosts: 2,917MI6 Agent
I like the whole futuristic thing as much as te next guy, I mean, I can't wait for Mass Effect, but EA taking its realistic BF series to the future is too much. It screams of "me too! I wanna jump on the bandwagon!"
Im gettin' tired of Gamespot...They gave Just Cause a 7.2 and Foaces of war a 6...even though FoW is almost the same game as company of Heros, which got a 9.0. In addition, all of the other magazines and review sites gave the games the same rating with maybe .1 or .2 more to CoH...

Gamespot always tends to go conservative with their scores, but when the ratings are that consistent across so many review sites then it is often a pretty clear indicator that the games do have some issues.
What is and isn't entertaining is always a matter of personal taste but I must admit to agreeing with Gamespot's assessment of Just Cause, as I had many of the same complaints when I tried the demo.
I can't speak to Faces of War, but if it is a near carbon-copy of some other game than it is understandable that reviewers would take points away for that (lack of originality, been there, done that feeling and all that).
Overall, I must admit to having been disappointed with the overall quality of the games that have been released over the past few months (especially for Xbox360). They've lacked polish, exhibited bugs and often haven't taken advantage of the console's strengths. Many have been simple ports from the PC and other consoles without bringing much that is new to the table. Hopefully, as the holidays approach, the quality of the games will improve and they'll take more advantage of the respective hardware that the run on.
Can you really expect any decent well known games on Xbox?
At least with Nintendo and Sony you know at some point you will definatly get a Mario, Zelda, GT, GTA, and so on..... these are the games I wait for!
The main put off for an Xbox 360 is the lack of well known and quality games. I'm not sure any really take my fancy even a shoddy Perfect Dark 2. Which had too much to live up to i'm afraid!. Microsoft must definatly be losing a bucket load of cash (which they can afford) but how people say they will win the next generation console war is outragous!. The nintendo Ds is literally whopping 360's butt! and that is a hand held console ?:)

There should be an insert in the game's DVD case; check that and you should be set. I also PM'd you the code you'll need from my manual.
