I will certainly be getting GRAW 2. After the awesomeness that was GRAW, how could I not?

    Hello lads.

Only bought me 360 last month. Virtually killed all the games I had. GOW, Amped3, TigerWoods07, and COD3. Looking for something new, any recommendations on something to get. Got DOOM3 on PC, is that worth getting on the 360?

    Cheers in advance.

Welcome to the 360 club. What kinds of games do you like? The 360 has a pretty wide assortment across lots of genres and there are literally hundreds of games. As to a few that I've played:

If you like action games, then Call of Duty 2, Splinter Cell Double Agent, Rainbow Six: Vegas, Tomb Raider: Legend and Quake IV are all good safe choices.

For driving games, Project Gotham Racing 3 has lots of real world cars which Burnout Revenge focuses on blisteringly fast, arcade style combat racing. Both are lots of fun.

If you're into roleplaying games you need look no further than Bethesda's Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion; a mammoth game with tons of quests to undertake.

Doom for the original Xbox will work on the 360 (it is backwardly compatible assuming you have the hard drive attachment for the 360). It's a very good port of the game but the single player campaign is pretty much the same as on the PC. There are also tons of other Xbox games that will work on the 360 thru BC. Here is a list on Microsoft's site:

    http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwardcompatibilitygameslist.htm

    Hope that helps.

Thanks. I would usually have said I was into the shoot em up type games. But from years of pc playing with keyboard and mouse, I found it difficult going back to a joypad. Which I have not used since my 64. Suppose it just needs a little getting used to. I have to say out of the games I have at the moment Amped was probably the most enjoyable for me which I was surprised at. So bloody expensive, the games as well.

Well then, we'll have to have a game after I get my console.

I used to do a lot of PC gaming years ago and ran into the same problem; a joypad just isn't as accurate as a mouse/keyboard combo. The better console shooters like Doom3, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and Rainbow 6: Vegas compensate by implementing auto-aim features so that as long as you're close you can still score a hit.

Now that the system has been around for a while we're starting to see a lot more price drops on older 360 games; Microsoft has even come out with a "greatest hits" line, repackaging some of their older games at a lower price. If you're interested in a particular game, there are two sites I often visit that have pretty reliable reviews:

    IGN Xbox360: xbox360.ign.com
    Gamespot: www.gamespot.com/xbox360

I've always preferred a joystick to a keyboard and mouse. Just more comfortable for me.

And in Shadowrun, the cross platform 360 vs PC game, the 360 guys are beating the PC guys.

I have to interject here...does the 360 really not have wireless built in...and does gold not come with the premium package???
  • NightshooterNightshooter In bed with SolitairePosts: 2,917MI6 Agent
No, the 360 does not come with wifi. You have to buy the add-on, or just hook it up yourself. Also, it only comes with a trial for XBL gold, I believe. 2 months? 3 months? Not sure.
  • 00640064 Somewhere out west...Posts: 1,083MI6 Agent
Grrrr....that ticks me off...badly. That makes the PS3 just as expensive as the 360 if I want wireless...
  • NightshooterNightshooter In bed with SolitairePosts: 2,917MI6 Agent
not really. You can by a cheap hub- you don't have to buy the microsoft one for $100
  • 00640064 Somewhere out west...Posts: 1,083MI6 Agent
Ill probably just wont go wireless...Ill just run the ethernet cable 30 ft to the LAN hub and plug it in there. Night, did you see the GRAW 2 developer blog at Gamespot, its really cool. It makes me want that game even more as it looks fantastic.

Actually 0064, only the $600 PS3 has built-in wifi; the $500 version does not. So, even if you spend another $100 for a wireless adapter, the premium 360 still $100 less than the PS3. You can also buy a 3rd party wireless USB adapter and save a few bucks.

Not if you factor the subscription to gold as well as the router...puts it at the same price, but im gonna just use the cables...ill be ok. Mmmmm...I sure hope Mercs 2 is announced for the 360 in the next couple days. But Crackdown appears to be shaping up nicely and i look forward to some co-op with my brother....cant wait to throw a car at him.
  • NightshooterNightshooter In bed with SolitairePosts: 2,917MI6 Agent
I don't understand that math. XBL Gold for one year is $50. A wifi adapter is, at most, $100. That makes it $550, not $600.
  • 00640064 Somewhere out west...Posts: 1,083MI6 Agent
But I also need the other end of the WiFi network that is the transmitter of the signal.
  • NightshooterNightshooter In bed with SolitairePosts: 2,917MI6 Agent
What makes you think the PS3 comes with that? You need a wireless router, how would the PS3 magically come with one?
  • 00640064 Somewhere out west...Posts: 1,083MI6 Agent
No, but I can save some money...anyways, lets quit arguing...im getting a 360 (unless Mercs 2 is PS3 exclusive) so I think we can get along...im also just going to use an ethernet cable and buy Gold....

Congrats on your PS3 acquisition, 0064. No matter how misguided you may be from this, enjoy it. ;)

I think he was pulling our collective chains Rogue; he later retracted his claim that he bought one and has now once again flip-flopped over to the 360 camp. I foresee a very successful career in politics for 0064 somewhere down the road. :D

Not everyone can have our clarity of vision and purpose Rogue. BTW, how Condemned coming along? And did you pick a new GamerTag yet?

I've been so busy that I haven't had a chance to really enjoy my console as I'd like to...

...and to be perfectly honest...the game has me a little punked. ;% :))

Not a really big fan of chasing convicts around dark corners. The last time I played it-late Sunday night- I thought that I was going in circles but I wasn't sure... ?:)

I have yet to hook up the cable to my new console and register; is there someway that I can hook up both and play off of the same feed? I have too many games on the old one to dispose of it completely.

Also, can I get Marvel Alliance that can play on both consoles? I'm thinking of buying it this weekend.

Why does it matter if it can play on both consoles? No, it can't, but I fail to see why it makes a difference. Get the 360 version and join Tony and me in a session.

And you need a hub if you want to connect both. Either that or a cable splitter.

Because my son plays on the old one. I won't let him touch my 360 just yet so yes it matters. I'm particular that way.

If I was your son I would hate you. A shiny new Xbox 360 that I couldn't touch... it is so cruel.

By you are out of luck I meant you can't buy a version that plays on both systems.

No, Night, he just respects other people's things. That's how he's been taught. If you allow everyone to just come in a ransack your stuff, you won't have it long and they won't care.

Besides, he respectfully asks beforehand so he doesn't hate me; maybe when he's a teenager perhaps...

I dunno, RA, it is like your dad owning a beautiful Porsche that he drives all the time but never lets you sit in. I'd end up stealing the keys.
