How is your original Xbox hooked up now? If it's directly connected to a router, you can just unplug the wire from the back of the Xbox and plug it into the 360. You can probably also get an inexpensive splitter from Radio Shack. If you are using a wireless adapter, again, you should be able to unplug it from the Xbox and plug it into the 360 thru either the ethernet port or one of the USB ports. Either way, just go thru the configuration on the setup blade and you should be good to go.
Also, can I get Marvel Alliance that can play on both consoles? I'm thinking of buying it this weekend.

Unfortunately, you can't mix 'n match between original Xbox and 360 versions of this game. If you want to play with the beautiful people (Night and me) then you HAVE to get the 360 version.

Haha, the beautiful people. If I'm beautiful it is only because the 360 makes me that way. lol :D

I dunno, RA, it is like your dad owning a beautiful Porsche that he drives all the time but never lets you sit in. I'd end up stealing the keys.

Wrong dad here, pal. Trust me when I say this.

Thanks, Tony. Currently my 360 is hooked up in my bedroom where I need a router while my old console is still hooked up in my den. I was wondering if I could hook up both and have my cake and eat it too... :)

I need a little more info about your setup:

1.) I assume your cable/DSL modem in is your den close to your original Xbox and PC.

2.) Since you go online with both your PC and your original Xbox, do you have a router in your den that allows both devices to go online or do you physically swap the cable from the PC to the Xbox and back again?

3.) If you're using a router, do you know if it supports wireless connections?

Once you get me this info, Tony's Tech Support will get back to you within 24 hours with a possible solution.

This is pretty much correct, Tony. I have my pc/Xbox running off of the same box and in the same room; my cable line is separate. I'm on DSL.

The new 360 is in my bedroom hooked up to that television and home sound system. Is there a way to hook this up without tripping over cables all day going down the hallway?

OK, so if the PC and Xbox are both connected at the same time, then you've got a router (or a combo all in one DSL modem/router - either way, it's the same) in your den. The question now becomes if that router supports wireless connections. You can either call your DSL provider or get me a model number and I can do some research.

If the router does support a wireless connection, the easiest thing to do is get a USB Wireless Internet Adapter for your 360. You can get Microsoft's own model; it's a little pricey ($100) but setup is pretty automatic. Or, you can go to a Circuit City/Best Buy/Radio Shack and look for another brand. Depending on what sales drone is on duty, he might be able to give you a good suggestion; Linksys makes tons of these things.

Either way, you connect it to your 360 thru one of the USB ports on the console, go to the setup blade on the 360's dashboard, and select the menu item for setting up an online connection. For most hardware, the 360 is smart enough to find the network and configure itself to get online.

At that point, you either bring over your old Xbox Live account or set up a new one and you should be good to go.

Let me know if you have any more Q's.

Wireless. You need a wireless router to hook up to the internet source, and then you need a wireless adapter for the 360.
  • s96024s96024 Posts: 1,519MI6 Agent
If it's a wireless router, you can connect the xbox wirelessly to it. If it isn't you would have to use a ethernet cable, which depending on locations could be easy or hard to hide.

Personally I have the main PC downstairs connected to a wireless router which provides a PC upstairs. Also I have a cable run up the stairs and under the floorboards to my room which is connected to a hub and then supplys my PC and my 360. Personally I like a wired connection instead of a wireless connection for my PC. Thats why I don't utilise the wireless ability for my PC.

Thank you, sir. I will look into that. :)

My wife is already getting on to me for taking up the space of a tv while she wants to watch soap operas in bed. :))

I may have to just have to hook it all up in one room but it just sounds so good back there.

Wireless. You need a wireless router to hook up to the internet source, and then you need a wireless adapter for the 360.

He might already have a wireless router and not know it. A lot of DSL providers (like Verizon for example) give their customers an all in one DSL modem / wireless router. That's what I have (model Westell 3270) and it's neat because it's a single point of setup for all the online stuff in my house.

Generally speaking, hard-wired connections yield a stronger and more reliable signal than the wireless variety. Unfortunately, there are times when it's just not practical to run cables thru the walls ( especially if your spouse is threatening you with a frying pan when you mention it ;) ). Still, if the conditions allow it, wireless can be really convenient.

Indeed I am rarely allowed to go hook me 360 upto the system downstairs, where it sounds looks so much better. X-(

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not very tech-savvy. I want to be able to play online with both consoles because believe it or not, there are alot of players still on the old system Live to my surprise at least...

I thought that I was the last in line for that.

Call and ask my wife that. :))

I know she's getting tired of me being up at 2 in the morning to those weird sounds on Condemned.

"What the **** are you doing? Turn that game off! It's scared the **** outta me!" she asks me Monday morning. :)) Classic.

Agreed totally. Our wireless network is very useful, especially for our laptop. Running cables threw the house can be very difficult if there not already run at the time of building. I decided to do it because I used to be a bit (a massive) Counter strike player. Now I don't play that I suppose it's not as much an issue for me. But I managed to hide the cables so well (Mum went mental when they just ran along the carpet) , that I have never bothered removing it.

Haha, that's understandable at 2 in the morning. Stick it on the surround sound cranked up that would be funny.

Yeah, I admit I did that to her for shock value. The sound seems to bounce off of our bedroom walls perfectly.

He he Rogue, sounds like fun!!! Perhaps F.E.A.R should be the next purchase. As for fence-sitting, thats not quite what I would call it as im nearly 100% certian im getting a 360...unless Mercs 2 is PS3 exclusive. Ive already planned out the games im gonna get. And there was some irony in that statement about the fence...my dad calls me Tom Sawyer because I hate physical Labor...and if youve seen the movie or read the book, you know what I mean.

GRAW 2 demo is out on Xbox Live, I'll try to download it tomorrow.
  • NightshooterNightshooter In bed with SolitairePosts: 2,917MI6 Agent
I played the Crackdown demo again and had a ton of fun. I put it on the hardest difficulty, and it made you less of a superman which was cool. I really enjoyed it, I may get it.

I also downloaded the GRAW 2 demo and it is awesome. The new weapons are great, and now you can go SWAT style and carry a SMG as a secondary (M4 and an MP5? All I need is a door ram and I'll be good!)
My one problem? I couldn't beat the damn level because of that stupid mortar fire! STOP BLOWING ME UP YOU INCREDIBLY ACCURATE MORTAR! And one time I got past it, only to be ripped to shreds by a helicopter. I have to get used to the controls again, and then I think I'll be able to beat it.

I bought Rainbow Six: Las Vegas last night used for the 360. First of all, I'm a big fan of the title and despite some wonky control issues with the shooting, it delivers in my opinion.

In this game, you can press L to press up against a wall, turn and fire like the SC games. Night vision and heat vision takes some getting used to because now I have to get used to the L/R little buttons just above the triggers. So far so good...

I also picked up Half-Life 2 for the regular Xbox brand new for 10 bucks. I was always curious about the game; maybe later on tonight when I get back home I'll find out what all the fuss was about on it.

I suppose the latter consoles games will decline in price dramatically over the span of the oncoming months?

Best game ever made. On the pc anyway.

I was also going to try and pick up a copy of rainbow six: Las vegas.

Just got hold of Quake 4. Really liked the old Quake games on the Pc so thought i'd give it a try. Haven't given it much game time yet though, I have been sucked into Dead Rising. Although the saving is annoying and why is the writing in font 1.

Played the GRAW 2 demo, I am not the best shooter and I had a little trouble. I don't like games that have too much info on the screen. Also played some PGR3, at easy I win every race, at medium I usually finish third. I need to earn some more points so I can get a better car. Right now driving a Vette. Last, but not least, work on my Halo2 skills, getting better, but not in Nights class. I see he is a level 6.

It does my heart good to see so many budding Xbox 360 fanboys. ;)

Barry, if you found all the controls in GRAW to be a bit hard to remember, may I suggest trying the Rainbow Six: Vegas demo. That game is more user friendly and dramatically simplifies the process of controlling your squadmates: you point your crosshair to where you want them to go and press "A"; very easy and intuitive. Just be aware that the demo is set to "Hard" and as such is much tougher than the normal setting on the actual game. As for PGR3, just as an FYI you can re-race the same event multiple times to get more money to buy cars. I'd suggest the Ultima GTR; its a very fast car with very forgiving controls.

Rogue, I finished the Rainbow Six: Vegas single player game a couple of weeks ago; awesome game but a mildly disappointing ending. The cover system is imperative to progressing and it becomes your best friend once you get a handle on it (or, if you like, think of it as practice for when you get Gears of War, which uses similar cover tactics). When you get online, maybe we can try some coop. Funny you should mention Half Life 2; I picked that up myself recently after seeing it on sale for $10. When played thru the 360 it bumps up the resolution.

I started to get GOW last night, Tony but there were no new ones available at this particular Gamestop and the used ones that were there either had no cover or no booklet. I really, really hate that. X-(

I will and never have traded in a game without it being intact; it's just a common courtesy with me. Why would I pay for the disc, at the same price mind you, minus the booklet or cover? Why do people even take that out of the jacket in the first place? :s
I don't know if this is common where you guys live but it's pretty frequent in alot of stores here. Gamestop should not give full trade-in value for something so trifle...

I never buy used games; I've way seen too many that are in horrible condition; The EBGames and Gamestops in my area will take back a game in pretty much any condition (probably because they give so little credit for it, relatively speaking). Like you, I try to take proper care of all my possessions (pride of ownership and all that) and I'm always very careful to take care of my games and their packaging and instructions manuals.

These days I get most of my games from Best Buy, Toys 'R Us, Circuit City or Amazon. I used to buy most of my stuff at EBGames but the stores in my area now rarely have sealed copies of the new games on hand (they seem to order a minimal number for each store), only used ones in the condition you describe or display/"open box" games that they insist on selling at the same price as new unopened games.

If I am only moderately interested in a game, I'm patient enough to wait for it to drop by $20-$30 before taking the plunge and I'm always on the lookout for special discounts and promotions at the major electronics stores.

Barry, I haven't played in a LOOONG time. I was a higher level, but then they restarted the ranking and I never got back into it. You're probably better than I am.

I wish we could play Halo 1 online, because I was actually good at that. Much better than I ever was in Halo 2.

Okay, I beat the GRAW 2 demo. And by beat I mean it ends after a period of time when basically you're getting pounded by a heli and tons of guys. I got past the mortars by just running like crazy.

The one problem I have is whenever you hold a pistol it looks really unnatural. Also, when you reload, the magazine doesn't detach. I had hoped these would be rectified in the second installment, but it looks like they haven't been.
