I've never been comfortable with using a mouse and keyboard. I've just never been a fan of computer gaming. Not sure why, but the fact that every game runs crappily unless you have a really expensive rig and even then might be why.

    360... I love you. :x

Eh, its a bit more expensive but it is far better. You get mods which are like free games, plus you dont have to pay to play (with WoW being a key exception), FPS' are far better (its where they started) and RTS' is a genre only playabel on the PC (ok, a few exceptions).

A bit more expensive? A GeForce 8800 card alone retails for the same price as a Core 360. Also gotta disagree with you about FPS games; I've played tons of them on the Xbox and 360 and the experience is every bit as satisfying for me - even moreso given that I can play them on a large TV and in surround sound. Can't speak to RTS games because that's a genre I never had patience for.

Same here; just too many gotchas with PC gaming for a smooth, plug 'n play experience, especially if you want to go back and forth between different games. And having to tap keys on a keyboard takes me right out of the experience too.

On the 360 front, the Oblivion Shivering Isles expansion is coming out next week - you'll probably hear very little from me in the days after that.

EA Games has announced a NASCAR game for next-gen consoles:

And here is some early info on Ace Combat 6 for the 360, which will sport, among other things, 16 player online dogfights:

Thing is most games don't need the top end cards. If you buy a top end machine it would obviously not be top end for long, but there is usually a long life before games are noticeably better or don't work, especially due to the fact games are designed to work on the majority of PC's. Consoles update quite regurlarly as well and with teh prices of the new consoles. You can easily link your Pc's up to your home tv. Also you ca do a hell of a lot more with a PC. Also being a real lover of the Command and conquer series. There pretty unplayable on a console. The 360 is the first console I have had since the 64.

I got my latest Game Informer in the mail yesterday with a Spidey 3 mini poster that's glued on front? Anybody else get this? One of my art students subscribe to the same mag yet his did not come with one he told me.

Anyway, as I looking through the pages at the bevy of new games coming out, I just realized that the regular Xbox didn't have one morsel of entertainment debuting in the upcoming months. Playstation 2-yes but none for the Xbox...

It seems to me that Microsoft is making the message clear to conform or be cast out.

I believe that there are NO more XboX games in production. and my two cents: XboX 360 is just a superior machine to the PS3 (as the XboX was superior to the PS2, units sold doesn't mean jack to me, NSYNC sold a boatload of albums, that doesn't make them better than Mastodon).

Sadly, the original Xbox is dead and there are no more games in development for it. Microsoft stopped supporting it the minute the 360 debuted and the last 3rd party games of note were released for the holidays (Justice League Heros probably being the best of the bunch). Since then, I believe an MLB Baseball game was released but that's it. The big black box was around for about 5 years; not a bad run but it definitely had enough power under the hood to keep chugging along.

Hey guys, just ordered GRAW 2 and Hitman Blood Money, both for 360, on eBay. :D Yay.

    I can't wait!

    I can't wait!

I haven't played GRAW2 in a couple of weeks; I bought it too soon after finishing GRAW1 and am a little burned out with squad based tactical shooters right now. But it is a great game and I'll get back to it eventually.

Let us know how Blood Money is; I saw it for $40 at Toys 'R Us and was thinking about getting it.

Tony, there is, or was, a Blood Money demo on Live. It was pretty cool, and I've always been a Hitman fan, although I'm terrible at the games.

I played the demo when it was first released; it was good but I didn't think it was worth the $60 pricetag. I wasn't too good at the previous Hitman games either as your window to do certain actions was pretty small and the games were less forgiving than say the Splinter Cell games. Still, at $40 (or maybe less) I might give it a go although I haven't been playing much of anything lately other than a little MUA here and there - going thru one of my game burnout phases.

I need to finish Rainbow Six Vegas. I'm about halfway through the Nevada Dam mission, and I'm guessing that is the last one. I love this game, but there are some frustrating deaths.

The Nevada dam is close to the end of the game but there are still a couple of surprises ahead. As you get further into these games, the checkpoints keep getting spread further and further apart and that can get frustrating sometimes.

I just got to the part where you have to enter the "secret lab". Am I almost done?
  • RogueAgentRogueAgent Speeding in the Tumbler...Posts: 3,676MI6 Agent
You're doing far better than me, Night. I'm pathetically still trying to rescue a Dr. Smythe guy. You die so easy on this version it's crazy. ;%

I am too busy with other things to really get down and enjoy it like I should. Is that Enya they're playing over the loudspeakers in the casino part? :))

Not really, Night. I'm being too much of a cowboy for one. I'll get it together.

Have you killed that girl who was leading the terrorists yet? If I remember correctly, you have some work to do yet - thru the lab, into some underground complex, and then up some stairs and outside for a final confrontation on top of the dam.

That's a sure-fire recipe for a quick death in this game. Always cover and peek out over the sides or top to take your shot. And always be aware of your surroundings. There was a part of the Dam level Night is having fun with where I was always getting killed even though I had cover; turns out some guys were coming out of a rear entrance to the complex and killing me from there.

BTW1, Rogue - have you gotten online yet?

BTW2, Rogue - how did you make out with Condemned? Or did it punk you out too much to continue. ;)

BTW3, Night - there's going to be an expansion pack coming out for MUA in April. 8 new characters including Hulk, Cyclops, Venom, Dr. Doom and others. Each has their own stats, powers and dialog. And there will be new achievements as well. No word on the cost yet.

To answer your first question, Tony - no. I perhaps could've gotten my moniker by now and gotten online but between work, family and my aspiring comic projects, I wouldn't have time to thoroughly enjoy the online experience like I had in the past. I should know just how addicting that can be; I'd never get any work done at my draft table. :))

I promise you though I should be caught up enough to play more than thirty minutes or so and not have to limit myself.

To your second question...let me just say that you were right; this game is starting to get to me but in a good way. I'm punked and for me at least, that means I've gotten my money's worth. ;%

I'm at the stage where you have to break into a fence and when I do, I get bumrushed by two vagrants almost right away, a guy with a crowbar and I was too slow to realize someone is attacking me from behind as I go up the stairs as soon as I'm lucky enough to find a health kit from the previous beating I took. :s

Then I hear something through my movie speakers that I can't see and quickly shut off the unit. :))

Don't know how you feel about gigantic sandbox rpgs, but the main reason I shelled out the cash to get the 360 was based entirely on Oblivion. I've have nearly 500 playing hours, and am not even close to bored yet. Even better, a nifty expansion is hitting the streets tomorrow (in the US), which will increase explorable lands by 25%, as well as new items, missions, and (for me) sleepless nights.

Oblivion is a FANTASTIC game; I've logged about 200 hours on the 360 version myself and am really looking forward to visiting the Shivering Isles starting tomorrow.

Just be aware that the game is absolutely massive. When you first start it up, you might feel overwhelmed by the sheer size of the world and all the characters and quests that will drop down on you and things. Give it some time to familiarize yourself with everything and you'll have a ball. The game has a very good system for tracking inventory, stats, spells, active and completed quests and so on. Also, there's no need to look at the expansion packs for a while - there are probably close to 100 sidequests and a massive main quest in the game to play thru so you won't be lacking for things to do.

Ive heard that there is a ton to do. But about the map size...Im sure I wont be too suprised as I played this little game called Just Cause with a map 100 times this size!!!!! But I am looking forward to it as installation went ok and I should be able to play later today.

It's not just the size of the world, it's the number of towns, people, dungeons, and other things to interact with and keep straight.

As for installs, all I had to do to "install" it on the 360 was pop the DVD into the tray. :p

I'd heard rumors about this but nothing recently. That should be a fun one to play thru. Is it being developed by Travellers' Tales? They did the first two Lego Star Wars games (as well as some other great games from years past) and are a very solid development house.

Yes indeed, Tony. They did a bang up job on lego Star Wars, I'm expecting the same greatness for Batman.
