Sorry you felt that way, for me, Crackdown was an amazingly fun game. Barry, there is a free Crackdown demo on the Marketplace, try it, you might like it.
The Crackdown demo left me cold. I can't put my finger on it but nothing about the game ever hooked me in. The driving was hard to pull off cleanly, the combat seemed too loose, and the shooting felt imprecise. It seemed to me like the game was trying to do too many things. Maybe it was just the demo.
On another note, I finished the Oblivion: Shivering Isles main quest - although there are tons of sidequests I haven't even started yet. The adventure involved some very interesting activities and by the time it was over, my character had basically ascended to godhood. How many games can claim that. Oblivion continues to be my favorite game for the 360. There are so many things to do, places to explore, loot to find, etc., etc., etc. No other 360 game comes even remotely close in terms of sheer depth.
Trying to decide where to go next with my 360. I still need to finish GRAW2 and I might pick up Hitman for a change of pace.

Oblivion sure is fun. Im still working through it and STALKER. STALKER is a riot, its a great game, but it is the hardest game Ive ever played...its easy mode is like...say...Halo's Hard mode. Its brutal. Nonetheless, I go on. In Oblivion on the other hand, I turn on God Mode if there is a place that Ive died a million times, which makes things less frusterating and alot more fun.
Got a question, last night I downloaded the Crackdown demo, but when I went back to play it the Xbox couldn't find it. When I tried to download it again, the Xbox said you have already downloaded this game do you want to go where it is stored, I said yes. The Xbox went to a screen where a message said it would show all my downloads, but that message never left and I never saw any downloads. I have about 4 games downloaded, but the Xbox would never any of them. Seems to me the Xbox couldn't access the hard drive space where the games are stored. Any other ideas?
I did try turning the game off and on and I was able to pull a couple arcade games, but nothing else.

Try making sure you're logged onto Xbox Live when accessing your demos and other downloaded content. Certain downloads are finicky and only work properly if you're logged onto live.

GRAND THEFT AUTO 4 is coming!!!! I just read it last night in my latest GI.
Also Liberty will loosely resemble NYC this go-round! I love this franchise and still have all of my games. I never tire of running over people of doing drivebys (especially after a rough day at work ). On the 360 this should be very addictive... {[]

Old News, buddy. I announced this a week or two ago. Try to keep up, will you, old man?

Go easy on him Night. He has this thing called "a job" that gets in the way a lot. You'll be saddled with one someday. {:)
As for GTA IV, I was never able to get into those games. I've tried them all - the GTA's, The Godfather, Saints Row, Crackdown and none can hold my attention for any length of time. Maybe its the size of the world, the endless stream of tasks to perform, or something else, but I always lose interest quickly and move onto something else. The one exception has been Oblivion, but that's a very different kettle of fish.

You like the added interaction of Oblivion, I think. It would be nice if they could have more interaction and more stuff to do in GTA, etc.

That might be it. The other thing that always defeats my efforts in these sandlot games are the controls - different layouts for on foot and driving and just too many buttons to remember; The driving never seems tight enough and the combat also seems too loose - they're just not my thing I guess.
Still, I may try this one too. The GTA Collection for Xbox is also $20 now; I may even buy that to see how it plays in BC.
NightshooterIn bed with SolitairePosts: 2,917MI6 Agent
Controls are always a pain to remember, but once you do you should be fine.
You should definitely try Oblivion out; one of the deepest games I've ever played. And how you set up your character initially (warrior, mage, combination, etc.) can totally change how you play the game. But be warned, once you get a few quests under your belt it has a way of hooking you in. One year and 130 hours later I'm still playing it. Proceed at your own peril.
Anybody else been messing with the custom soundtracks on the 360? Microsoft ditched the old Windows Media Connect method (which scanned the hard drive every time the program started up) in favor of a new scheme that uses the Zune software to maintain a library of multimedia on the PC. Once the Zune software is installed getting at music, pictures and even videos stored on your PC from your 360 is transparent and pretty much automatic. The only requirement is that the PC be turned on. Very slick if I may say so. If you have Windows XP with Service Pack 2 and want to try it out, go here and follow the steps:
Haven't been using my 360 very much recently. I need a new game. But I have finally picked up GRAW after only playing it briefly. It's a bloody hard game for me. I'm only at the part where you have to protect VIP2 and i'm finding it impossible. Theres just so many commands and the response isn't very good. You need the patience of a saint.

Actually, MP3's will work just fine with the 360's custom soundtrack setup; that's what my library is as well.
GRAW and GRAW2 definitely require patience. They're more slow paced and reward a more cautious approach. Also, taking cover and using it effectively is critical. Once you get into the gameplay it can be very rewarding but you're right that the learning curve is pretty steep.

We 360 owners get a new franchise as Sony loses yet another exclusive: Katamari Damacy.
I've never understood the appeal of these Katamari games myself but it is great that more and more developers formerly beholden to Sony are supporting the 360. The ever growing installed base has just become too big a soure of potential revenue for them to ignore and I have a feeling that when a little game called Halo 3 hits the shelves the sales of consoles will spike yet again.
NightshooterIn bed with SolitairePosts: 2,917MI6 Agent
I think the Damacy games seemed really weird, but I never played them, and maybe they are really fun. Without a demo first I won't buy it, but if the demo is really fun... who knows?
I'm looking forward to the Spiderman 3 game, which will be awesome, I bet.
An update from the website Tony posted back in December I think. Xbox still selling well but the Nintendo Wii has exploded. PS3 bringing up the rear. )

A lot of people are accusing that site of inflating the Wii's sales - many analysts put it at closer to 5.5 million units sold worldwide. And in America the general consensus is that the 360 is at least keeping pace with the Wii. Everybody does agree that the PS3 is still at the bottom though.
BTW Barry, how did you make out with those demos you were having trouble with? Did you try playing with them while logged on to Xbox Live?
Thanks for asking Tony, but it has been a busy week and I haven't had time to go back and check. Hoping to leave work early today, so maybe I can check it out then.
Still playing Halo, at the level where you first battle the flood. Man I must blasted 10,000 of those little buggers and they just kept coming. Finally ran out of ammo and they got me. Need to figure out a different stategy.

That level was a tough one - and there are a few more with them that will also lead to a little frustration. They are endless, but I guess that's why the call them The Flood. )
As I recall it was pointless to try to kill all of them; at some point, you had to run for it and look for the exit, bagging only those Flood that got in your way.
What's peoples opinions on the Wii. I'm thinking of picking one up for the more lighthearted games were I just want to mess about. Also looking at maybe even picking up a ps3 as well mainly for the Blu-ray. The Wii is the easy option because it's fairly cheap and if I don't like it, I can just give it to my brother. The PS3 is a bit bigger investment, so not sure whether it's worth it. I'm not inclined to buy it just for Blu-ray. Have any of you got both consoles or even all three. Does the ps3 offer enough over the 360 to make it worth it.

I used to own a Wii but sold it a few weeks ago. I found some games to be fun and use the Wiimote smartly (primarily Wii Sports and Excite Truck) but for the rest, the Wiimote controls felt tacked on and often just made the gameplay more tedious - Zelda: Twilight Princess in particular never felt right to me and I gave up on it after about 10 hours or so of gameplay. Graphically, the system was nowhere near the 360 and many games don't even support progressive scan or widescreen. Also, most of the titles on Wii are either microgames like Warioware (which I've never liked) or ports of games already available on other consoles with inferior graphics and bolted on Wiimote support (like Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Splinter Cell and Far Cry). The Wii is fast starting to look like the Gamecube to me in that it has lots of generic games and ports broken up by the occasional inspired title. If you love Nintendo's first party offerings like Metroid, Mario and Zelda, and don't mind waiting long periods of time between original games, then you will get mileage out of it. Otherwise, look elsewhere.
As for the PS3, there continues to be a precious lack of good original software for it. According to the reviews I've read, most titles that have been released on the PS3 and 360 look and play better on Microsoft's console since they were designed for that hardware and then ported to the PS3. Sony has also been having trouble with its first party games. F1 got average reviews at best. Warhawk, which was highly touted at last year's E3 has been dumbed down into a multiplayer only game. And early reports are that Killzone looks quite disappointing, graphically at least. It's never a good sign when Sony's own first party developers are unable to make good games for their consoles and a lot of Sony's loyal 3rd party developers like Capcom, Konami and Namco have started releasing more and more software on the 360. So, unless you really want a relatively affordable BluRay player, I for one feel there is no real compelling reason to pick up a PS3 today.
Personally, I'm sticking with the 360 exclusively for the forseeable future. If the PS3 drops in price and releases some compelling software I'll pick one up. As for the Wii, the uninspired ports, cutesy games, my lack of interest in Nintendo's IP's and the overall weak technology have pretty much killed my enthusiasm for that console.
As an FYI to all 360 owners, Microsoft just posted another backward compatibility update to its website. Several notable additions including Nascar 2006, Star Wars: Republic Commando and Mercenaries ( 0064, where are you? ). Sadly, no Justice League Heros or any other James Bond games. Here's a link to the full list:

Couple comments, first of all I noticed (correct me if I am wrong Tony) that the PS2 outsold the PS3. Pretty sad if you ask me.
My little problem with the 360 not showing my demos was resolved with the help of a very nice lady on the Xbox hotline. She was very nice, patient and spoke great English. Can't ask for anything more than that. 100 times better than the help I got when I had to call the Sony helpline for the PS 2. Can you tell I don't care for the folks at Sony. )

Glad to hear your problems have been resolved. BTW, NASCAR Total Team Control 2006 for the Xbox is now backwardly compatible with the 360. I'm pretty sure it's selling for $15-$20 at Target. I'm sure you'd enjoy it, if only to play as that loser Matt Kenseth. :v
My son played the Crackdown demo and really like it. He said it would be one of his top games ever, along with the Halo series, Gears of War, Call of Duty series.
I played some more Halo today, got by The Flood. You were right Tony, shoot and run is what I did.

Barry, what difficulty are you playing Halo on? Just curious.
And why haven't we had our Halo 2 AJB fragfest? Come on, there must be ONE day in the next few weeks when we're all free.
