Gotta say I'm glad I went with the Legendary edition. The Helmet looks amazing!
I noticed you were online earlier; any impressions on the campaign mode?
I hope to pick up my copy tomorrow after work. I've been hearing a lot of reports of scratched discs in the collector's edition, so I may just opt for the plain old standard edition instead.

Campaign is cool. Halfway through the second level on Heroic, but stuck at a part in a narrow room and 20 or so brutes. Legendary is impossible, even on co-op. You won't be disappointed though. It looks and sounds great.

Yeah, but will it be as good as Bioshock? )
Campaign mode is what I'm most interested in so I'm glad to hear it plays well. Funny you mention Legendary being impossible as a lot of fanboys are complaining that the game is too easy even at that level (personally I suspect they're disgruntled PS3 owners trying to plant seeds of dissention).
I've almost beaten Crackdown (just need to kill a few more ShinGen bosses) so I may wait a few more days before diving into Halo 3; I'll probably play it on normal the first time thru until I get my timing back.

I played the first level on 2 player co-op on Legendary, maybe it is too easy with four players. (I found Halo 2 co-op Legendary impossible, though) But your shield drops with one shot, the enemies throw perfect grenades, you get one hit kill sniped out of nowhere, and it is just annoying. On Heroic it is good - not too hard (yet), not too easy.
The multiplayer is really where it is at, though. Although even on the first day of release I find myself muting every other player. The maps are fun, the new weapons are great, the balance is perfect, the vehicles are awesome... just get online already Tony.
I never finished Crackdown. I beat the first part of the city and stopped there.

Yeah, the hyperactive 11 year olds with the Mountain Dew IV are a pain in the you know what; that kind of crowd is why I avoid online modes on games like this. We'll have to do some closed co-op / DM with some of the 360 owners around here eventually as that will probably be more fun.

And you were the one who was trying to get me to buy the game. )
I must admit; I've become addicted to Crackdown. I find myself thinking about how to take out the crimelords or getting at the unreachable orbs even when I'm not playing the game. This is the first and only GTA style game that I've really enjoyed. The lock-on mechanism works really well and for some reason I seem to be able to remember where everything is in the city. The only problem area for me is the driving as the vehiles don't control well and there are too many pedestrians in the way during races. I'll have to put some time into that as I have feeling it'll get easier once I evolve those skills a bit.

Try playing some co-op, the co-op is a lot of fun. I actually beat all the bosses with a buddy to get the achievement.
It isn't only the 11 year olds, either. Just jerks. My gamertag is Batman007, as you know, and EVERYONE always sings the Batman song. It gets so effing annoying.

That would probably take too long for me to sit thru in one session. Getting old sucks.

You mean like "Na na na na na na na na na BATMAN!" )
Unfortunately when a game is played by so many people you're bound to get some bad apples. Even if only one percent of the people playing were jerks there would still be thousands of them online (and we know the number is way higher than that).
RA, are you getting Halo 3?
Rogue needs to get online first, then you can badger him about Halo 3.
NightshooterIn bed with SolitairePosts: 2,917MI6 Agent
Actually there is a mode where you can just beat boss after boss, nothing inbetween. So we (my friend and I over online co-op) beat it in 20 minutes or so.
Son is enjoying Halo 3, I haven't played it yet, but it looks great. Real curious if Halo3 will lead to increased Halo 3 sales. I was surprised to see a large number of folks still play the original Xbox.
Did see one analyst say Halo 3 puts the final knife in Sony's PS3 back.
I finally got to pick up my copy of Halo 3 today and, wouldn't you know it, both discs in the tin were badly scratched. Luckily, the salesperson just gave me a disc from the standard edition of the game so I'll only need to send the extras disc to Microsoft for replacement.
I've gotten thru the first three levels and am enjoying the game quite a bit. The visuals and level of detail are absolutely amazing. About the only thing I don't like is the vehicle control. Using the right stick to turn and the left stick to accelerate is counter-intuitive and goes against every other driving setup I've ever seen. I'll have to see if there's a way to change that although I doubt there will be.
Still, despite the minor hassle I'll have to go thru with the essentials disc, the game is a definite buy. Time to Finish The Fight...

Weird, I thought the graphics were the only weak point....though im a bit smug with my new 8800 GTS

Let me guess, you hate Halo 3 because some annoying classmate of yours likes it, right? Sadly, the way PC hardware ages, your 8800 was already obsolete by the time you posted your message. {:) How much did the 8800 GTS cost? I'll bet you could have probably gotten a 360 and maybe even a game or two for the same price.
There's been some scuttlebut on the net that Halo 3 doesn't run in true hi-def but rather at a slightly lower resolution. No matter, the game is fun and I don't have to worry about any incompatibilities or upgrading my hardware every six months to get the best possible picture. The detail looks amazing to me as you can make out individual blades of grass on the ground and the view distance seems to go on forever.

Ok, HALO 3 update:
Beat the game on Heroic by myself Friday morning. Then decided to go through it with some buds of mine 4 player co-op Legendary and we played all the way through and beat it. This took almost the entire day, haha. Anyway, Legendary is definitely beatable, even easy with 4 players, for the most part anyway. Co-op is very laggy, though. Even so it was a blast.
Tony, word to the wise: The second to last level, called Cortana, is a horrible level. It is difficult, not fun, and too long. Every other level is great though.
Also, I spent the rest of the day (I'm writing at 2 AM) playing multiplayer so I could unlock the Halo 1 helmet. Now my Spartan looks like Chief from Halo 1 almost exactly.

Congrats on beating the game Night; I'm taking it a little slower than you are so it'll probably take me a while. I'd read about that second to last level you mention - it's with the Flood, right? - I heard the best strategy was to just run like hell and try to get from checkpoint to checkpoint. Hopefully it won't be as bad on Normal, which is what I'm playing at my first time thru.
NightshooterIn bed with SolitairePosts: 2,917MI6 Agent
Normal is hideously easy. I can't imagine what Easy is like. So running like mad through the level may be possible in Normal, but wasn't in Heroic and definitely wasn't in Legendary.
Anyway, I've spent today looking for skulls with my online buddy. We've found most of them, nine or ten I think.
I do hope you decide to play some multiplayer, Tony, is really is a lot of fun (if you mute everybody).

Nah, I wouldnt spend a bunch of money on a card...my friend tore apart his "old" (6 months old) computer for some parts and left me to have fun with the rest. I got 1/2 a processor and an 8800 from it!!!
And no, I like Halo 3 just fine....i was just mentioning that the graphics dont look as fine as say....i dont know....Crysis...
Is Crysis even out yet? I thought it was still in development. As for Halo 3, I played some more today (probably about 3/4 of the way thru the game now) and I still say it looks great. The vistas really stretch out as far as the eye can see and the level of detail from far away or up close is really great. Also, once you get the hang of the controls, driving the vehicles is lots of fun (the Mongoose is especially fun as it really has good grip).
Crysis beta is out, while the demo is out Oct. 25th. The game itself ships November 15th or 16th. But I just sold my computer for a cool $1000. Another kid in my school heard about it and offered to take it off my hands...I spent 600 bucks on it...and got 1000....what shall i do???

Nah, it will be worthless to me in 3 months...I decided to put 1/2 of it away for college, and will spend the other half on something undecided, im leaning towards a new comp, but i might just buy games for my laptop...

I knew offering a suggestion would be a pointless waste of energy; but I am curious - why will the 360 be useless to you in 3 months? Are you getting married or something? Regale me with more of your logic defying rationalizations...

Yes, my wife and I are expecting our first child in 4 months and she doesnt want me playing games in the living room where our TV is because she doesnt want the child to have any mental issues growing up from violence in games. She thinks that the kid will suffer greatly from me playing Vegas. And she smokes 8 packs a day. So I only can use my computer to play. So yeah, thats basically why its wortheless to me soon.

We shall see, my friend. I presume that your cavalier query was directed at me but as far as I know, you may have been asking Tony as well.
